Your a Mod Polix, edit timer doesn't apply to you, and you can edit things whenever you want. Right? So you deny people a luxury you have? Someone else in this thread already said it for the very same reason. Rosters, Lists, Technical things, Updates, all these things need ongoing edits, especially if your a topic starter, and usually that stuff is in the first post, as well as being stickied topics.

Is it possible to make it so normal posts edits are within 15 minutes, but the first post of a thread you start can be edited indefinitely? This pretty much would solve everything. Because some people make lists, rosters that need editing again, or technical things, project lists that need updates.. 10 posts was an exaggeration, but I have done 2 posts before because the edit ran out. Then the BBCode is fine if it's used for technical reasons.

I noticed the lame time limit on editing, then thought to myself that whoever thought editing should be limited to 5 minutes, must be really lame. But I never thought that person would be you Polix. My opinion of you falls more and more drastically everyday. But keep trying, and you might win my approval. Anyway despite disliking the edit time, I never said anything. Just because no one complained until Cheese did, it does not mean no one noticed it, or that everyone approves of it. I also think editing should be infinity. More freedom no need to have 1 minute edits. Or I will just end up making 10 posts on a page because I couldn't edit original. You could always make a vote, if you really did design these forums for the community and not yourself, then voting is a good idea, rather than changes out of nowhere in hopes no one notices. Warnings on forums? Bad idea, unless you let me warn you also. yeah its this problem. i use firefox and have GeForce GT 430 vid card, drivers updated. Try disabling Windows Aero Theme. I assume you already have SS set for administrator and compatibility to XP3. "Drivers updated" Means you updated the drivers? Or they already are updated? If it's the latter, Reinstall them even if they are at the latest update. Did you try running SS with Windows 7 Aero theme disabled?

I have had all these issues. Always forget how I fixed them. I had the alt tab problem. Where it wouldn't re-enter game from chat window. It would just fake a game enter then, re-chat window me, instead. I had the alt tab problem where it would alt tab but disconnect me from server due to a large packet spike that happens during the alt tab. I have had the problem where when I alt tab into out of subspace with full screen, it would take literally 1 minute to get out of the black screen and display the game again. (this one was annoying because I'm impatient, so I literally just played subspace in window mode, unless I had a league game) This way in windowed mode I could fool around and never needed to alt tab. And when I was playing league, alt-tabbing is not necessary so I wouldn't have to wait a minute, since I am not doing it. So full screen was fine for league. I have had the problem, where if you take a screenshot, the screenshot is black. I have had the problem where if you take a screenshot, the game actually disconnects. (This one left me not taking screenshots for a few months) Trust me I had it all. I suggest updating your graphics drivers. Even reinstalling them even if there is no new update, since there might be some corruption or something needs to be reset. So the game will readily accept the graphic driver, is my speculation. This is more a Windows 7 issue, than it is a Subspace issue. So do everything to maintain your windows 7. Update it, de-fragment, clean it with ccleaner, and so on. I think there might be some relation to the browser. Though I am not sure what. Do you use firefox? Make sure it's running good, does flash ever crash? I have had my firefox crash flash before. Usually if I am buffering a lot of videos online, with maybe 5-10 windows opened, and something lags or hangs, then all the videos crash. Youtube also, and they just become a grey screen with the flash icon in the middle stating flash crashed. So flash and java, make sure they are running good. If these ever crash it's indicative of a problem among Windows 7, maybe the graphics card or driver. What graphic card do you have? Also is your client running off the main hard drive, or do you run it off an external hard drive like I do? Polix in my opinion, you should write this beautiful list of rare deadly subspace issues I just compiled in this post. Because they are so fucking frequent, and everyone who does fix them never writes what they did, and eventually forgets, and new people end up having the issues and keep asking for help from people who already forgot what they did. We need to eventually track down the solutions and the causes, and have this list available with answers. I am sick and tired of these same problems coming up, and people pretty much in desperation for a lack of anything to do to fix them.

So you will lose whatever benefits that 5+ years of being in the same spot gives you. If priitk doesn't update this client, it may as well just be replaced by the many new clients out there. I have already seen many old games from 1997, losing support, and being remade 10x better in a new client. And much of the community transferred over with few casualties. It may not be called subspace in the future. It's continuum right now. Though a subspace domain is a good idea. Also abolishing the main page is a good idea. I was thinking that myself when I first used the forums. The main page needs to go. Apply all it's content directly into the forum atmosphere. But yeah I agree members having control of content is a good idea, you guys do have a bit to learn from me. I agree that there is a risk of alienation through a domain change, but with the right front page information and a redirect it will not be a problem IMHO. Most people will acceept a we have moved message and/or a redirect. I personally still navigate via www.ssforum.net because it is engrained from years of visiting this site. Doesn't matter to me that it is redirected. The key for this issue in the longer term is upkeep of the domain names. I really like SSGN though, Subspace Gaming Network... it's kind of cool..

I rarely get entertainment out of these forums; as long as everybody stays in some kind of mutual agreement that Avast is just a moron I think feeding the 'troll' in this case is nothing but a good thing. Corrupt people won't like having me around, because I expose their failures, fallacies, and wickedness. Really I troll the evil out of people, until a pure product is left. For example Hoch, he finally decided to quit banning people, and take care of his sick wife. I turned him into a Saint, in that sense Brain is very right. Hoch was a saint, because of my existence. I don't blame them either, sometimes words are hard to handle for very emotional people. But DSB has died in my absence. I was the life blood. They are all making posts on DSB forums, saying there is nothing they can do, and they wish they had people to help. Entropy isn't even active enough, and the zone has less than 20 people a day, with 2vs2, probably no practices. League won't happen I am sure. They banned one of the most active players, who still held peoples interests negative or positive interest doesn't matter at this point. And I helped make all their BABL maps that they are still going to use for BABL league. I even re-tiled some bases while banned and sent them to sever. Even mapped a nice pub map, which is probably way better than anything they have etc. etc. Yet after banning me they are still crying saying there is no one who makes what they want to see done. Sure when you ban that person and don't listen to his sagely advise to save your zone. Of course there is no one left. It's pretty pathetic and disgraceful what they did to DSB. Ent further blames the community for this and says until they change their attitude DSB won't be active. Jee I guess if they dislike DSB so much maybe the image of the zone would improve if you didn't ask for netban favors, and ban your only players. Ok And we all know no one is gonna pay programmers 50k/yr to remake subspace UNLESS THAT PERSON HAS A MILLION DOLLARS TO SPEND, which is exactly what this topic is about. This is also why we can't remake the game properly with part-time unpaid people, most of them being "hobby" type programmers. Only a moron would spend their million dollars on this game.
