I wouldn't personally be upset if the elements on game mechanics that I suggested where never implemented into the Pheonix Client. It's not even so much that I am giving you a list of things to do. Not at all. Just so there is no misunderstandings. I just wanted to give examples. To me the whole idea or purpose of making a new client is to achieve the things that players might have always wanted to do or see in continuum, but could not do because of limitations and lack of support from the original creators. So everything sounds great, I am glad you plan to improve the game mechanics and make more possible. Out of curiosity whats your background Richard? what zones do you play? did you use other names? Whats your experience in programming, and networking? and why personally did you undertake this project?

I don't know anything about networking. But I would like to see 1. Player made customizable zones (ie Phalanx might want to remain just as, if not more customizable than Continuum) 2. Less or as much lag issues that the current Continuum client has (if its more lag problems, then its obviously detrimental) 3. Infinite security options, and options to deal with players (besides banning them) which would pretty much nullify any need for netbans, zone police, and subspace council. Get rid of these dinosaurs they only hinder the game. Polix is the only one of them who has evolved to actually just focus on development. But still if you leave him no reason to police, he would be even better off. Since the client would have no limitations, and therefore no need for people to monitor other people. If you need ideas on what type of features, I could go into more detail. But all I have are ideas, I have no idea how practical, or able these ideas are to make into reality. You enter any other game online, and you never see someone who is in charge, or hear from them, or even know they exist. That's how it should be here. At the most phalanx should just have a help channel. 4. 200+ zone populations 5. Great improvements in most important, game mechanics, ie "one sided walls", maybe even rotating walls, maybe even meteors that have orbits around other objects, ship death explosions that cause you damage if your near or in them. Possibility to place bricks, which last forever, and your ship can move them with a tractor beam etc. How far can you go Richard? At best one idea I had was that ships can place bricks, and build their own mini bases, and defend their flags in them, and so on. More flexibility on the energy bar. This way people who design zones, can use the energy bar in different ways. When your bar is orange, (they can add an effect) when your bar is red (they can add an effect) and so on. Manipulating the energy bar for ships is very important, for customization of zones. Sadly I can't quite remember my epic idea for energy bars, which continuum in no way could possibly achieve. But when I remember I will let you know. More options for tiles on a map. Not just 200 tiles. But 400 different tiles, would actually fit in to what most people ACTUALLY need for map making. However I know most people use LVZ in place of tiles and walls. So I am not sure which one is better for speed or the server/client etc. But if you can allow 400 tiles without losing speed, or creating lag, then I think it's a good idea to just do it. Even if we do have LVZ which we can use as walls. Animated backgrounds is another idea. I notice your background in your video had a planet, space, and some stars. But Imagine a spinning planet, twinkling stars, and so on, aka a Gif background, or whatever animated backgrounds. Is it possible? Will it lag? Heat seeking bombs, which will actually deter from chasing you if you fly near another ship, object, and so on. None of these ideas are meant for mainstream, that would be details that I don't care about. But I think all of this should be possible for zones, and people who want them. Heat damage, ie fly near a hot source, it will damage you slowly over time. And contrary cold damage. Instead of 8 tiles which act as doors. Allow for more than 8. I am thinking at least 16 door tiles. This will GREATLY improve map making.. because so often there are limitations to what you can do with doors, because you are already using doors somewhere else etc, and the client cant differentiate between doors, it either opens all doors, or not. IE make that better. (of course I could be wrong) Many more fly over, and fly under tile options would be nice too. Though LVZ solves this. Objects with their own momentum and flight path, different from orbits, which are circular. Aka take the idea of a decoy, make it solid, add graphic effects to it, and turn it into a meteor, have it move at a slower speed, and just travel anywhere that its original momentum set forth. Possibility of destroying walls, IE destructible tiles. Which could be a new set in the tileset. Currently lets assume we have 8 door tiles, 20 fly over and fly under, 150 solid, then we would have 30 destructible tiles. Perhaps a mini tractor beam (acts like grappling hook) more or less can bring you towards any object, or if you hook onto someone, you can follow them as they fly, (ie making actual convoys) as opposed to turrets, if the object is smaller than you, like a green, it will bring the object to you, rather than your ship to the object. Can be used to swing your ship, or escape black holes. etc. I am probably getting to advanced, or describing a game that sounds nothing like continuum. But I figure it would be continuum, if all the zone settings remain the same. New zones would use these ideas, old zones might adopt some, or use none.

rofl really, and I missed the opportunity to troll him. Damn. Wasn't he supposed to release an update for continuum, at least five years ago. And it never happened yet. Richard I am not sure if you are just going to mimic Subspace, or add new features? Not just common sense features that subspace should have had. But for example I was wondering if your client could have it so that when you destroy a ship near you, it's explosion will actually damage you if you are inside it, or very close. Proximity to ship explosion. Maybe shrapnel. Not sure if it can be done, or is even worth doing. I was also hoping for one way walls. Walls which allow you to fly through them left to right, or right to left. But once through, when you try to fly through the opposite direction, it is a solid wall and you can't pass. If your client can make these possible, then it is much more advanced than subspace/continuum currently.

Who is lying and how?

I never sided with cheese. I spoke from experience, "when I said corey will probably delete posts outside hyperspace forums ". This experience was when Brain banned me after I reposted a deleted post in hyperspace. Since I copy and save every post I make. And keep it in backup for about 2 weeks. He banned me from not only hyperspace forums, but SSFORUMS as a whole. Even though he is not supposed to do that. His ban pretty much should have been limited to Hyperspace forums. As I am currently aware. His reason for this is that he was too lazy. That was his response when I asked. It was easier to ban me from all of ssforums. I was just suggesting that corey could likely resort to the same thing. Moderating outside Hyperspace forums, and the reason this is likely is because the zone owner does this, and people who are under him would learn by example. It's also obvious corey is a troll. And likes to troll people, even if he is trolling trolls. That actually makes him more dangerous. Someone like me has no bias, no motives for revenge, no retribution thoughts, or sense of vigilantism. When I troll, I troll everyone, I pick no targets, unlike Mom for example who whispered me and begged me to troll z-er in Extreme Games. Someone who does however is apt to abuse powers, because they will carry with them a sense that they are better than certain people. Does corey abuse powers? has he banned people for no good reason? I don't know. Cheese never posted screenshots, backed up with logs. etc. Is it likely cheeses post was deleted? Yes. I am inclined to believe cheese on this and corey isn't denying it either. Has corey randomly shutdown hyperspace. Probably. Was it intentional, by accident, or from lack of knowledge. I don't know, don't care. You have no leadership issues. I never stated you did. Leadership is determined by three things in my eyes. The player community is content in hyperspace? Yes. Is there development? Extreme development. Is the zone popular? By hyperspace standards Yes, the population has increased from before. This means your leadership is good. I am talking not about failure in leadership which Hyperspace doesn't share with DSB. I am talking more of the personal mentality that a zone owner or people in positions of power have. Your view on players, in dealing with problems etc. That is something else entirely, and from my discussion with brain he has much in common with Hoch, and the current DSB and even subspace council. The only DIFFERENCE is that brain is more honest. He openly admits he will ban for what he doesn't like etc. DSB on the other hand and even subspace council put up rules, and then break their own rules, make exceptions, and lie to people. Now does brain share this in action with DSB? Not yet. I've yet to see an action aside from the deletion of my post on hyperspace forums, that goes with what brain said. DSB on the other hand is full of abuse. The only few zone owners who have a fresh perspective on how to deal with people, and don't treat everyone like a criminal, is tm_master, and the_snake.

If everything you do is just to troll and has no other purpose. Then you are going out of your way to more hinder, maybe oppose, or disrupt. A more evolved troll, will have no real motive, and their actions would disrupt regardless. But the none motive would be that they are doing what they want without regard for others for their own entertainment. This does not necessarily mean you want to harm, or cause harm, or EVEN that you can cause harm to a zone, or even the people in it. Many people make fun of me, and believe me I am not harmed and I still like those people. I have no ill feelings towards anyone at all. So if you go out of your way and your only purpose is to troll. Then yes you could locate someone like that and say there only motive is to disrupt what we are doing. Lets disrupt what they are doing so we can have a nice atmosphere here. That Is okay to do. (but not with a ban - however details are not important) But now we have someone like me. My overriding purpose when I post is never to troll. I don't flame people in threads. I don't even start threads usually (which means I don't even actively seek attention etc). I actually try to make points, discuss things, have a topic of conversation. Sometimes leave an opinion - like "this is cool". In game or anywhere else it's the same thing. I was banned from DSB for telling them how to fix their zone. Pointing out flaws in management, policy, and lack of actions taken. People generally don't like to be told that they are failing. They have pride. Really the greatest troll is wounded pride. I am just myself. Now unless you want to argue my nature is evil, or that I cause harm wherever I go. Then you can't really justify banning someone just because you dislike them. If you do, it is basically called doing what you want without regard for others. And being a troll. Which is why I called brain a troll. I am pretty sure I am not evil, and I contribute to the game. Even killing people and saying EZ is a contribution to this game. Without rivals, or someone to oppose or dislike, this game would have gotten socially boring a long time ago. Part of the reason it's a fun game is because it has a chat client, and people can be jerks. Every negative action has a positive with it. It's called balance. And bad things can't exist without a simultaneous good thing that arises from it. For example if we killed off all the worlds viruses, the human race would die. But wait viruses are bad and make us sick, and even kill us. So remember trolling is actually a good thing, maybe in excess when it becomes someones only purpose you can suppress their trolling. But it's pretty damn clear I have more purpose than just to troll.

Of course, but you shouldn't ban people because you dislike them. Or you are probably worse than a troll. You would be more along the lines of that wiki defined troll. A troll like me dislikes no one. And would never to do anything out of dislike for someone. You actually think I actively go out to annoy and troll people. If you get annoyed it's because you yourselves failed somewhere and I pointed it out. You only have yourself to ban, so ban yourself first.

Aphelion - Astronomy . The point in the orbit of a planet or a comet at which it is farthest from the sun. Definition might have helped people like the name more. Explains why the title was dark too. But still not in favor of Aphelion, my proposal was Javaspace, something simple and direct. lol Maybe need some type of more Arcade name, or adventurous name, and a title that provokes fun, rather than the next Event Horizon movie.

Sorry but if you tried to define me by those terms. You would be way off. I can actually troll while staying on topic. And I am on topic in every thread. I am also not limited to threads and forums. But it seems by their definition a troll is limited. They also mention Anonymity is what brings out trolls. But I am against smurfing. And never smurf. When I play under another name I tell everyone who I am. I often use the truth as a troll tactic. It's so easy to troll people because most people are liars. Either lying to themselves or everyone else. Therefore the truth is a viable method which is impossible to counter. This definition of a troll on wiki doesn't come close to what a troll god is. Trolls like that are easy to come by and even easier to go. Anyone looking for an emotional response, would themselves respond emotionally to everything. Therefore they would get trolled. Brain has already followed suite with DSB because he threatened to ban me for posting in hyperspace, when asked what I should not post, he explained posts which he did not like. This is why DSB is a perfect example that correlates with brain. Brain would deem what I say harmful to the zone, and ban me if I was in hyperspace. All because he does what he wants, as opposed to me actually being harmful. The fact that I would just play a zone for example would neutralize the fact that I troll in it. Playing a zone is productive and supportive. Especially in a dying game. And yes I was dropped on my head as a child. Or more accurately I fell down 30 steps of stairs when I was 1.

If in fact the people being disturbed really wanted to. A zone owner has power and should only use it help a zone, not act out their personal sense of justice etc. People who own zones typically should build up the zone, and make friends, not keep enemies, and harm their zone by banning players. It's just one player sure, but anyone banned, is basically harming your zone. Which is an insight into how much you guys really care about the community. You can't pick and choose your player demographic. If you don't like the players gtfo the game =)

Corey your just a troll with mod powers. So is brain basically. I actually don't troll with powers, mainly because my trolling is way too powerful, powers are not needed to support it or my emotional state. The same can't be said for you. You need the power to back up your inferiority online. And inability to get what you want otherwise, as well as lack of trolling strength, since you can't really troll the troll god. So you need to resort to other methods of dispatching me. But yeah powers can't do away with me. With powers I just do things I enjoy, like Deving, fixing a zone, helping players. I might be an epic god troll, but in DSB I did make a rookie squad for the purpose of bringing new players to league, and ran this squad for over 5 years. Helping over 200 new players in game. I mostly trolled DSB staff, and pros/vets. Of course the purpose of the rookie squad was in part to troll league, as well to be useful enough that it would neutralize my trolling and people would be less inclined to get rid of me, when their league is half dead and needs more squads. Like a fail safe. But mainly it was because I like the new player demographic, and I enjoy casual squads. So anyway you are basically a loser. Is what I'm getting at. Use your powers to help others. Develop your trolling if you want to troll so its strong enough that you never need to use powers to support yourself like a crutch. AND you do want to troll. So does spidernl, brain etc. All trolls. But not very good ones yet because you are relying on powers still. Challenge yourselves and you'll reach my level someday.

I think passing the ball with warp, is faster than using Shoot. Make them the same. AKA make shooting to pass the ball the same speed as warping to pass it. Maybe have a replay ability on goals if you want..

Then I made it clear that I am assuming if it works the way I think it does, that XP has no permissions anymore since it would be replaced by Windows 7. Then I went on to talk about windows 7 and how to make everything accessible. Assuming my assumption is correct. If not it doesn't matter. So you saying "sentence wrong, rest of post useless" is not needed since I already made that clear. However even if the rest of the post turns out useless. It is not wrong. The Windows 7 permissions, and account info is all accurate. As well I want him to tell me I am wrong, and explain how. So I can better help him. Rofl not allowed to post in tech support. but xp doesn't have permissions, does it? Like XP alone, this permission thing came with windows 7 and Vista, XP OS is completely gone. So all that remains of XP is the files? System files should be replaced by win 7, so if you need to access personal files.. then Windows 7 can have the permissions set to let you. But I never fixed an XP install with Win7. I see no reason why they would keep any XP system files. It should be a new OS. and keep personal files only. So Windows/SYSTEM32, should be all windows 7 files, therefore windows 7 permissions, so you can set the permissions to let you access. Since it should have no relation to XP anymore. Anyway what you do is go to the C drive, and change all it's permissions. So click C: drive change permissions. It will take about 20 minutes or less. It changes the whole C drive at once, and every folder, sub folder, and file inside it. Its tricky, and you might end up in a loop or with an error message, so I would need screenshots, and step by step information from you. Also Windows 7 has it's own administrator account. You should delete any user accounts, and use and login to the administrator only which has it's added benefits. They keep this account Hidden. Because they have no care for what you want. etc. They just decide shit for you. They being retards at Microsoft. net user administrator /active:yes Type in CMD, run as administrator, restart PC. Go to user accounts, delete old user account, login to admin. The delete should save all your files to the admin. Google that to be sure. Since I have no time to tell you, or look it up. Also an install of Windows 7, if it's just system files or an upgrade, will keep all files of previous OS in the C: Drive. It would be in a folder, but I forget what they called the folder. Anyway it's nice because you can install windows 7, and everything is backed up into a folder. It shouldn't place old windows installation into specific areas.. normally it's all in one folder in the C drive. Also Windows 7 auto powers down the hard drive, when not in use. You might not want that, so go into power options and disable it. As for making windows genuine, there are programs to crack it, or at least ways to disable the annoying messages. I can look it up later.

See if his hard drive is toast why is he asking for help. This is why not sure what he wants and what even happened. Did he install over win XP completely? Is Win XP on another partition, or he upgraded winXP to win7 and kept all the files. Pretty confused why he even included win XP in this post if its nonrelevent at the present.

You will never win vs me, because I can go forever, you will just call another mod. But really I want to help you. I know lots about Windows 7 and XP. I can make it genuine, fix all the permissions, make your accounts active, just provide more detail, because your post is one big run on, with no point.

Still no idea what your problem is Cheese. You mixed in XP and Windows 7, and HDD issues, No clue what your asking. Be more specific and detailed. Brain you can go around in every thread and claim things, doesn't make it true. (especially when you delete the evidence) Next time leave the posts, and move them to Avast can't read thread etc. This way other mods can decide if you know what I can or can't do, the more the merrier. I don't need someone whose itching to leave hyperspace forums, moderating me all over ssforums now.

Yeah well I never even shut off the 1 terabyte hard drive. It just decided to crash on it's own, probably after I restarted my PC one time. The SATA Hard drive is fine. I didn't even notice you could unmount it until now. But the occasional times in the past year where I just flicked the switch, nothing has ever happened. It's been like 5 years. This is a good hard drive... that's the way it's meant to work. Not this ejecting crap =/
