I don't have a problem with what hes done on subspace.net. Its his domain he can do what he wants. Imo its a bit foolish however, In the end it harms GM more than subspace. GM is looking for beta testers and increased pop. Antagonising a good source of testers doesn't help anyone.

The machine that hosts the other directory server (ssdir.playsubspace.com) among other things amy:~# uptime 10:10:50 up 92 days, 10:55, 1 user, load average: 0.63, 0.23, 0.10 Probably would be longer but i had to reboot for a kernel security fix...

well if priitk doesnt deliver.. And if anyone learns !@#$%^&*embler. they can work on the next release My first aim it to start by complelety reverse engineering the menu39.dll file.

easy to get everyone to update the links. domains arn't important. subspacehq has already been dropped from google.

Staff abuse starts at the top. If the higher ups in staff abuse it will filter down to the lower staff members. There should be a clear separation of power between moderating and banning. Moderators are allowed short bans but the ban coordinator decides if a ban is valid and for what time it should be made. There should also be a clear banning policy in place. So that people can only be banned for specific things, and you should *warn people before banning them for the majority of offences, to allow them a chance to correct their behavior. A system like this tends to work well. Owner | |-Head Sysop/smod (in charge or recuiting staff, discipline, training) | |----Dev Team | |-------Ban coordinator (smod) (l3+) | L-----Moderators (l4 bang) -------Non-bang moderators & other staff

Draw, write do some creative stuff.

would be far easier and cheaper to email all the sites that using the subspacehq.com address and update them to the new addresses. google "link:www.subspace.net" google "link:www.subspacehq.com" contact the websites with updated urls.

neither of these domains really matter, i can already fix all the links to it inside continuum, its not hard to email websites and ask them to update links when we come accross borked ones.

LOL Personally where I see subspace dying and GM failing is the SVS style settings. The SVS settings to me (a newbie) are boring as !@#$%^&*, TW and EG settings are exciting and make for fun zones to play, its no coincidence there are the two most popular zones now. They are the zones that attract the new blood. In SVS 1. Its impossible to kill any vets. 2. Your ship feels slow, unresponsive and uncontrollable 3. Slow Gameplay (green for ages and then die) 4. My little brother says it sucks 5. Hard to understand why you shoot someone alot and they don't die IN GM 1. Its too easy kill. 2. Your ship still feels slow, unresponsive and uncontrollable 3. Slow gameplay (wait for nme, kill, wait, repeat) 4. My little brother says it sucks 5. Hard to understand why you randomly die sometimes without appearing to be hit by anything. Thats how it feels for a newbie like me.

subspace bounces like the one of the right. The bounce in subspace is correct. if anyones ever played ?go starcon in TW thats almost exactly how that armada thing sounds like. Its alot of fun, i look forward to trying it out!

sure if you can do it, why not. I created my own custom installer a long while back with a custom skin.

Meh screw the racism complaint, if he was in my zone I'd just perm-ban his !@#$%^&* for being an idiot.

I've given it a try, was playing in the "destroy reactor" zone, found the ships frustrating in there lack of responsiveness and the way they bounced off walls, still managed to rack up some kills which isn't bad for a TW player used to 1 shot kills. The heavy weapon bouces like 4 times and then bursts, the burst is so tiny it can kill you and you die without realizing why, i found the prox kinda weird on it too. Interesting game, but the ships are frustrating to control especially with no after-burners (unless i just can't find the key), i dislike the SVS settings however, so maybe thats why I don't like it.

Its not a simple redirect. typing in http://subspace.net, keeps subspace.net in the address bar. A better redirect would be one to rename subspace.net to galacticmelee.com I'm not sure if redirecting the domain, in a way which keep "subspace.net" at the top for every page you visit is going to have the effect intended. It looks weird and people are going to think the site is dodgy. I'm not sure if Rak'kar would have wanted you to redirect the domain. He's keen to get some alpha testers, and attract interest in the game from Subspace players, by "appearing" to hijack the domain is only going to harm his reputation, and turn away the people he wants to attract. However it doesnt really matter what subspace.net points to, the domain is increasingly irrelevant...

turning on "Software Emulation" in the advanced options menu fixes nearly all the graphics issues

Help with Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition
doc flabby replied to Russky's topic in General Discussion
The c++ express is a waste of time, you better off using dev-c++ or torrenting the full version of visual studio pro 2005 -
You dont kill off a sucess, they killed off the money losers. Based on what i've seen of the population in cosmic rift, when i gave it a try i'd be surprised after server and bandwidth costs if they were even breaking even before they went free. I can't see a P2P business model that works for a subspace type game. Maybe advertising in game could cover server costs, but trying to make people pay to play doesn't work. A far more sensible model is to sell the client in shops/online shops for say $40 and then unlimited free online play. use some advertising in game to cover costs of the official server. Create some decent server software and level creators to go with the game. Charge Server operators a subscription based on a max online player scale. eg. 10 players is cheaper than 100, or rent out server slots to connect to the main billing network. Individual server operators can then choose to charge people to play there zone if they wish. The reason why Sony HAD to make Cosmic rift and Infantry free, is because they were losing so much of there population to free infantry. The problem is that lack of development by sony caused the people paying to think, wtf am i paying for and setup there own servers. Galactic Melee seems somewhat uninspired imo, i can't see how its advancing the genre, there ARE some revolutionary things that could be done, but quite frankly from what i can tell so far is it looks like another subspace clone with a few more weapons and stuff. But i am willing to be proved wrong. These games are simple enough to clone without massive technical difficulty. What makes the game is the user created content.

looks interesting, but you do well to remember the original company that sold subspace went bust... I have no doubt the game when finished will be good, but will it make you rich? probably not. Please prove me wrong

doc flabby replied to L.C.'s topic in General Discussion
can't believe everyone missed this one http://www.subspace2.net -
#4 ftw i type www.ssforum.net to access the forum. I like the new style tho, with it being part of sscentral, keep it as both It feels more like part of a big site. changing the name, unfortunately won't reduce the spam. Sadly all these DDOS,hack and spam attacks are now the NORM for many websites....

im gonna keep bumping untill its fixed.
