Installed a new hook to tweek the guest message. Before it was displayed on every page, but installed a different hook where it will only show on the board index.

Can now only quote a selection of the post, rather than quoting the entire thing and editing it out. Or just quoting the entire thing when meaning to only quote a partial. Just highlight the text you want to quote, and then click the "Selective Quote" button. Example And again It does seem to fail after posting from quick reply though. Gonna post that bug on the support thread.

Why Donations? About 2 yrs ago I moved the sites off of Testtube's hosting and onto our own server. At the time things were very financially stable for me. I was making almost 2x what I needed to live, and when I received a nice bonus I decided to set it aside for Continuum projects. My wife and me were going to be married, and figured when finances meshed she would complain about my expenses for this game. That sum of money I figured would last 3 years, and I didn't forsee the game at the time making it much past that. If it did, I'd just figure it out. Well, that didn't take into account the person I was splitting the cost of the first server with not paying their half (not bitter about it or anything) nor did it take into account me having a daughter and the wife not working. Financially I could probably do it fine, but It'll be really hard for me to self justify spending the money it costs to keep these scripts licensed and the server running. Of course I will choose family over keeping up a few websites for the small community that is left. What's the costs? VPS Hosting - $26 / month SubSpace.co Domain - $30 / year (could score a 30% off coupon probably | Apr 2012) IPB Tech Support License - $30 / year (Feb 2012) IP.Content - $15 / 6 months (Apr 2012) IP.Downloads - $10 / 6 months (Jan 2012) Total Cost 1 year: $422 If we'd like to add the Tutorials script to create a better FAQ section than what is in Technical Support, would be another $40. Why Donate? Honestly, I dunno. If you enjoy the community, want to see it keep running, or maybe just need a spot for some web hosting (yourname.subspace.co or your own domain - got lots to spare). I know many out there would rather see this place die than help it, so I am not going to push for anything. If anyone trustworthy and with the knowledge wanted to step up and take the reigns, I have no objection to that. I have honestly been waiting for years for someone eager to, but so rarely once they are given access do they do much of anything. Again I am not forcing anyone to donate, but I will just hook up all the billing to my paypal account and it will run as long as it can from there. This will just be a tough year for me financially, after that I should be able to pick things back up, but can't make any guarantees. To anyone who wishes to donate, Thanks for the support. If you'd like hosting, please let me know. Paypal: Click Here - Verified Donations - $185 $100 - SD>Big $20 - L Y N X $15 - Unknown $10 - Gallitin $10 - LtNirvana $10 - Nude for Satan $10 - Doc Flabby $10 - Blocks

We have a saying in my trade... "Focus on the Solution, not the Problem." In your case, by constantly moving on and working on a little bit here and there, you'll accomplish far more than many before you. You won't get frustrated, and you won't dwell on something not working. You can always come back and fix it later with some help.

I don't doubt Priit's caring for the game. Just wish he had more time to spend on it again. Obviously he wouldn't spend the money on it, effort to fix major bugs when we find them, or the time playing with TW's subgame if he was just done with us. TBH, I sometimes wonder if he just got tired of trying to come up with all the ideas for Continuum that didn't help just 1 zone, or that were really worth the effort. Especially being he had .39 final (now .40) done for so many years, and just never released it.
-
Highly doubtful. I'll bug Ghost and see what access he has to the server again, but there isn't much we can do. Or send it to Priit and ask him to replace it for our zones. Again doubtful, but worth a shot. The side effects of priit zone hosting.... no development, just like the game.
-
This has been brought to Priit's attention, and we'll see what happens. He has been recently fooling with TW's subgame (broke a few things there anyways) so it is a good time to try and get him to tweak the feature and add a setting so we can disable the arenas adding to the total population. Really should not be that hard to add in a setting for that, so we'll see what he replies.
-
Well, if you look at the zone's forums/in game - EG players don't care/like it... Powerball players don't care/like it... Chaos/Premier players some don't think it does anything to help the pop (not the point ultimately)/don't care/like it/couple love it for hopping between PB and Premier pracs. All 3 of the zone's head sysops like it, or else they wouldn't have done it. You act (as always) like this is all me. Need to learn everything isn't always about 1 person, and that most the people who post on this forum don't play these zones. Besides myself, not a single person in this discussion actively plays one of the 3 main zones involved (again, DSB I am not sure what the point was there just yet). I don't drool over it. I just know why they did it, and I don't see any issues with it. I support the idea of them trying to work together, especially since Chaos/Prem, EG, and Powerball have quite a few common players. Many were calling for the zones to just merge anyways. That has quieted since we've done this.
-
As far as EG, that is because they are temporarily hosted on a player's server at work, and are about to move to Junky's dad's house on a pc. They're in the same boat as we are in Chaos with keeping bot hosting up. In our case, ours seem to go down perfectly right before the Premier League matches every week. And our host is MIA with no response except restarting things. We have 2 PriitKs to deal with essentially. Here is a simple fix for you guys. Don't like it, remove the zones from your list. The module is almost complete for release, and soon any number of zones could peer this way if they wanted. It is more focused on zones moving to ASSS so they can move an arena at a time (as EG currently, and Chaos is debating again), but can also be used where zones share common players already (IE: EG, Powerball, and Chaos/Premier).
-
And subgame can just have the arenas, so you do "?go name" and it sends you. But won't list the arena with the population which is what the purpose is. It isn't for "boosting our zone's pops", but for treating our zones like normal sub arenas of each other for players to hop around where they please.
-
Unless you know how to modify subgame, and get Priit to host it, then there is not an alternative to it working this way. Unlisted arenas isn't what we're looking for. We've already got/had that setup.
-
Check your firewall. Probably activated it or changed the settings on it without meaning to.
-
Well, get use to seeing HS overpopulated perm. We don't plan to remove the arenas, and there is currently no way to not count the population as a whole.
-
What error message does it give when he does "?go" once he is in tw? If it says something about res, then there ya go. But if it just says disconnected from server, then something else is up.
-
Except that in the first 2-3 years we did exactly opposite of all of what I listed. We put together a central biller, got ourselves hosting, revived some of the dying zones, put together a central group to communicate and work together, got hosting organized for the vie zones, created a new client, etc. etc. We actually did work together, and prospered. It was after such time that the competition for the huge influx of population began the driving seperation, and the developer of our client went mia. Things have been downhill ever since for the total population. Some zones have come in and thrived, but overall the population has been on a decline with some bump ups, but mostly from zones adding bots. Had we continued what we started doing, actively developing the game and working together to promote and move forward, we'd be in a different boat right now. Just my honest opinion. Could I be wrong? Sure. It is an opinion. But just looking at what happened in those first 2-3yrs compared to the later (beyond the luck of ZDTV), it is almost undeniable that us working together rather than against each other pushed us further. Do you think HS and HZ would be in the same place they are now if you guys didn't work together at some level?

This game could be the perfect lesson/example of why a player ran game cannot survive. We let one player code everything, and go MIA without any accountability to the community. We never made any central authority to control the game, keep everyone in line, and keep everyone working together for the greater good. Instead we tore our community apart with stupid politics and wanting to be in control of the most players, and created our own mini communities in our game that was barely keeping 1 entire community alive. We setup a system that allowed abuse, discrimination, and no accountability. At all levels this ran rampid. A centralized biller not allowing anyone on, an elitist council "overseeing" everything, and zone owners freely able to cheat and abuse in their own zones at free will. Many zones worked harder at discrediting each other and stealing each other's players, than they ever did actually working together for the greater good of the game. In reality we failed ourselves. We had every opportunity to stop this, and we never did anything beyond bitched and complained. There has been some strives lately to regain what we once had, but sadly I think we'll find it is just too late. The best we can do is just enjoy playing this game as we all slowly leave and move on. It would take a miracle for us to rise out of the ashes again, and I honestly don't have my fingers crossed. Just my jumbled 2 cents.

If that was all you needed, coulda told you that. This has been in the works for years, but never came to fruitation until recently. EG, Powerball, and Chaos hooked up arenas with listings so that our players could hop around the zones with ease. So far it has actually had a positive effect for the zones. There is the pubs, and a select arena or 2 from our zones. DSB has been recently hooked up, but not sure of the plan with them tbh. I know EG and Chaos have been both looking at moving to ASSS, and this is just kind of a step/test in that direction also. The only thing it hurts is people seeing the zones with larger populations. But in reality, they do esc+a, and see all the people are in other "arenas". That already happens in the zones during league times, or special events anyways. The public arenas pretty much die off, and everyone is in a subarena. But right now there is EG:0, EG:Lounge, EG:egfl2011 (? was EG:baseduel2), CZ:0, CZ:4v4squad1, PB:0, PB:replay, and DSB:0
-
not just a pop boost, it is just an event they don't always shut the bots off on. It isn't that hard to do, but I think they just leave them until someone really notices/points it out.
-
I counted the bots in all the public arenas of the zones before. I can't seem to find the doc, it wasn't half the pop, but quite surprisingly still a lot of bots. The worst percentage (of zones with active pop) going to EG, followed by TW, and then Chaos. Since then I know Chaos has reduced the number of bots it keeps loaded (wheter liked it or not), and TW reduced some of its. Dunno about EG, as it actually looks like more arenas are open now.

And could just use their current SSC scoreid info

There is quite a few key things that fall into it.
