  1. Happy Independence Day To all who do and have served, Thank You
  2. Just thought I'd remind you what it looks like.
  3. It is a long dirty road that ends with us not having the source or ability to edit the client on a as needed basis. They're not to keen on adding a game that hasn't been updated in almost 4yrs. Though I did point out how many games on there are older, and haven't been updated in some time. Didn't get a reply to that one. Kinda givin up on the idea of it. One other person I did run into, had said he tried getting his game onto Steam once, and it seemed like they were pretty profit motivated in wanting control of things / priority on a producing deal if your game took off. Also a few people pointed out how hard it has been for games since Steam hooked up with people like EA. I think maybe we need to try focusing elsewhere. One person recommend hitting on some of the gaming blogs and facebook gaming groups. Might be a legit idea. Many of the people who visit these sites are more "diehard" gamers who will give anything free a try just to give their 2 cents on it.
  4. Nope, sadly can't take credit for that one. Though I'd be more than happy to.
  5. Do you really enjoy making yourself look like a total idiot? A zone can ban anyone they want for any reason they want. They could just one day decide they don't want you there anymore and ban you. They have every right to do so. TBH I could do the same on my forums. Normally I don't, but you are really pushin that button with your stupidity lately.
  6. Well, Avast turned this thread into plain stupidity / all about him. Closing. [Jun 21 08:06] Troll God: lol glad to see your a tool for other people. if they were right, and i was being plain stupid, they wouldn't mind the thread being there showing how stupid i am. It's obvious they can't justify their actions. You listen too much
  7. Looks like your ISP is connecting from Brasil to New York then to Dallas which is a very odd routing. The 1st one to EG makes more sense. What is your lag like in game? Sometimes traces can show ploss for a few cycles (best to do 100+ before posting), but you experience very little in game.
  8. That right there is why it involves me, and why that is the answer. Now if you're talking doing it without names, then it sounds like a great idea.
  9. Also, just the point out the 3 big flaws... ?lostpassword - And no "can't use it" as billing rules that he/she who owns the e-mail attached to the name, owns the name. also they can just fill out a billing ticket, and we can pretty quickly determine them the rightful owner. and finally if chaos supported this, going against billing rules, we'd have to remove the zone from SSC. Think that is enough good reasons to explain my point

  11. No. And that is the final answer.
  12. I point you to this thread: http://forums.ssgn.net/topic/25623-continuum/
  13. I created the domain, so of course I like the url. But being the last general site for the game, I feel something needs to be updated/changed and focus on new players, not just current ones. Almost any game I can think of the main website for that game has the name in the url. Callofduty.com, Starcraft2.com, etc. Recently after playing some other games to get a break from all the dramatic political bs that has been happening, I soon realized every game's website I went to was easy to find. Typically just the name of the game, then .com, .net, .org, or .co.uk. Easy to find, easy for new players to realize what the site is about, and everything you needed was there. A few were just forums, or a simple frontpage with most the content being the forums. This got me thinking. Bajan's download script (while designed around the idea of SubSpace Downloads) is still buggy, and even he found some huge holes he overlooked when fixing a couple for me. But more and more began showing up, so I decided to drop it. Thus the IPB Downloads script, being the best for the style I was looking for (simple structure w/ ability for USERS to upload, not just admins), lead me to the idea of a forum centralized site. I had also been from time to time communicating with the people over at Valve and Steamworks trying to find the simplest way to get Continuum either working with, or just listed on steam. This led me to many other game websites, and got me thinking more and more as I'd stare at SSGN not really happy where it had gone. I began posting on a few admin forums, and a few gaming websites in threads and comments about game websites, web design, forums, etc. Started a couple threads about SSGN, looking for thoughts and opinions. First comments were just about the URL itself. Next came how the website and forums don't really flow together, and how using IPB I could just drop the website itself and go with forums with all sorts of content and information. So overtime talking, and planning, ideas kept coming up. Soon at the Daytona 500, GoDaddy made a big deal of .co domains, and a couple people suggested what I had begun thinking about. SubSpace.co So my vision became whole. SubSpace.co, a centralized forum with downloads, information, tutorials, and everything you'd need to get help. Get.SubSpace.co would be something like GetContinuum.com, but more aimed at just getting the players the client, basic first run issues, and then pointing them where to get help and some info on different zones/gameplay. Rather than just 1 splash page, something a bit more involved, and maybe a video on the frontpage to catch their eye. Not really to compete, but just another portal that is a bit more dynamic. MGB's server website still covers everything to do with servers, bots, etc. so I'd rather keep that as is. TBH, yesterday a conversation came up where I realized not even some current players can remember the url to SSGN. Many had been here, but just never remebered the url. When I mentioned SubSpace.co, many liked it, thought it'd be a lot better, and it reminded them of SubSpace.net. Many agreed SubSpace.net kept SSForum and SSCentral alive, as those domains were really only known to current players. SubSpace.net was something easy to remember, and good for new players. I felt constantly going outside our community, and even this forum community was a good idea to get a broader opinion on the site. My goal is just to build something worth visiting again like we did when Rowen and Cyberise were still around. I haven't had someone like Rowen to bounce ideas off in a long time, so going to others outside was the right move I feel.

    BURN

Shouldn't have to worry as I already told Joe I wasn't goin. Wife was wanting to have a kid and would be too young for the trip/her too pregnant (and is going to doctor monday to confirm she is pregnant), and I doubted I'd have the leave as I already had a lot of it burned on other plans. As for Audrey, yeah I've lacked any respect for you since I saw you use the fact you are female to get anything you want from desperate guys in the game. Granted I have less respect for the guys giving it to you. I told Swift congrats in game, but hey since it seems to have to be in public to be "recorded". Congrats to you 2, and good luck. I will admit I got annoyed with his begging for a biller wide message. All the sysops bitched it was a dumb idea/didn't want to see it in their zone, so wasn't gonna do it. But Joe being Joe (and he knows this) he wouldn't give up. Would rather listen to him bitch at me, than a few sysops turn it into a whole big dramatic ordeal as they love to. As for Cham, the only reason he doesn't like me that I can recall, is I wouldn't add a forum he wanted. Then one of my Admins suggested it, and I added it, then it died, removed it, and he got even more pissed. As for running these forums, my admins run the forums. I rarely take credit for that. I just keep the server up/software updated. Filling in for/working along side ghost ship has been my main duty to this game. But really none of it is worth bragging about, as it is the reason I rarely care to get on a computer sometimes.
  15. This problem has come up before. Sadly we never found a solution, though I know the player eventually fixed it, but never posted how. The last post was asking if they tried turning off overclocking. Searching the internet, noone has a solution to this issue with almost any application. Almost seems like a hardware issue over a software issue reading everything tried...
  16. Actually you are both right. To sum up the ways to do it: ?ignore Ignores the person who you have ticked. Use page up/page down to tick their name. ?ignore Player Ignores the player who's name you typed in. Those 2 methods fail if you logout ignore.txt Create an ignore.txt in your continuum folder and put 1 name per line of anyone you wish to ignore. This file is loaded everytime you open continuum.
  17. As some of you know, I have spent the past few months talking to other forum admins, contacting some game admins/devs, and looking through advertising ideas. Granted I have also been working tons of overtime, so has really slowed the entire process, but I feel it is time to begin asking the community itself what it thinks of the thoughts of others. Just a few of the common comments I got. I'm not planning to do anything right now. But I want to know what the community's thoughts are. I want to build everythig around the forums, as the last thread did confirm that most people do just come to the forums anyways. That and building a downloads site that the url would be "Forums.ssgn.net/files/" just seems odd. http://www.ssgn.net/files/ would seem better, or could even be http://www.subspace.co/files/. Could also have information on the forums, tutorials, news, etc. All could be updated easily by forum members and staff, and everything could focus here. I dunno. Just some thoughts I have been having since there is nothing really major to make visiting the website itself worth wild. The scores and stats site I am still bugging Priit for along with Ghost Ship, but seems just when he gets interested, he drops off the face of the planet again for a few weeks. I hate moving the community again, after just moving the forums from SSForum.net to Forums.SSGN.net last year. And ain't just going to randomly go out and do it, but what are your thoughts and opinions? Should I just move the forums to SSGN.net, or try out SubSpace.co? Either way, I want the forums to be the homepage of the domain. That much I do know I want to do.
  18. Closing topic. This is going kinda how I expected it to from talking to people. Will be another poll up shortly.
  19. Snrrrub's runs on 64-bit without issue. Could run that one like I do.
  20. This kinda has to do with some discussions I have been having with other forum admins/game devs/game admins over the past few months. Just trying to share ideas and brainstorm with other communities, and get feedback on ours on ideas to improve. One major change I kinda want to do, involves this question. Thanks guys!
  21. I installed in Program Files just for the test (installing there does give permission issues), so if was a permission issue, that'd throw it off. Running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on both myself.
  22. Uninstall removed all my files? It sounds like the installer honestly corrupted on you. I can't seem to find where I put the installer creation file. Gonna search the registry. Edit: Where did you install Continuum? Edit 2: Registry - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Continuum
  23. yes, it does a registry edit. Lemme see if I can find it in the installer creation file.
  24. installed fine for my brother. No issues after restart from either shortcut. I'd try uninstall and reinstall, and if still having issues, use the zip download. Reading another topic, it sounds like your computer was/is giving you lots of odd issues. So might just still be side effects of that. I can't seem to replicate it, sorry man.
