  1. Update. I didn't renew SSGN.net or SubSpaceOnline.com Google has fully purged them from its search engine, so let them die. This is the domain we will stick with from here on out. Short, sweet, has SubSpace in the name, and I plan to renew it for 3yrs when I get my summer bonus. (no it is not that expensive, just feel that is the money I can spend on what I please).
  2. Yeah, found that out. and Hi.

    virus

I had this issue back around the 20th of march with Microsoft Security Essentials targeting multiple files on my computer. It went after quite a few games and many random files (Adobe Acrobat had a couple files it wanted to quarentine for the same "Ramnit Worm"). In our case it seems to be directly going after the menures.dll and menu040.dll files. It also alerted me on my subgame2.exe A couple days later it stopped constantly popping up about the files, and when I scanned it didn't go after any of them. I noticed it had just updated the definitions that night, so I tossed it up to a error on their part. Going to assume it was also in an AVG update due to the massive amount of people reporting this issue on a couple of game forums.
  4. It is inevitable that any game will eventually die. We have far outlived any expectations, even the expectations of the community itself. I can still recall many of the early people who helped push this game back up leaving thinking we wouldn't last another 2 or 3 years. Well 10 years later we are still here. Priit made Continuum closed source for many other good reasons beyond Security and Obscurity. But in reality it has worked very well. Granted he does have many other security checks that hinder your average script kiddie harmless in their attempts. It also helped limit the features put into the game, and kept it going on a straight track. If you saw some of the ideas that were thrown out at the time for Continuum by various other sysops and programmers alike, you'd realize why controlling what was built into it was a good idea. Otherwise the shmorgishborg of features would make creating a zone or even navigating the client a total headache.
  5. There is no way that web design (which honestly almost looks like a modified template, but even if not) was worth $1650. The total of that + the whole integration thing makes it a bit fishy to me.
  6. Downside is Junks told me who donated the $200, but I can't remember who it was.
  7. 1,005 clicks so far. ~30 clicks left of funds based on current CPC cost. Dunno what effect it had as far as gaining new players, but we did get a lot of downloads from it.
  8. sadly not many people toy with their personal shipsets as much anymore. Dunno why, but so much of the customization of this game seems to be a lost art.

    ping loss

That is a zone setting, not a personal setting. Best to post in HS forum asking about their lag settings.
  10. They have already taken off pretty well. Been talking with the guys over there from time to time, but they have created a good central leadership and are well ahead of where we were when we got dropped on our faces. So far they are a lot better off than us in many ways. All zones use the same basic settings, they have an open source server, they have no "zone owners" so they rotate the active zones to keep things fresh, the community is playing a huge part in what is decided and done, etc. etc. If they keep it all up, this will truly be interesting to see how well they thrive.
  11. Moved to correct forum. For some reason you had the default IPB skin, dunno why. But I didn't apply any of the bug fixes as we no longer use it.
  12. Sad but true. Until we get more games involved in Windows 8 issues (many are chucking it off to not supporting it yet looking at tech support forums on other game sites) gonna be hard to figure our own out. I myself normally search for the same issues on other game forums, and normally find a fix. But as I said, seeing a lot of "We're not supporting Windows 8 just yet, sorry" type replies.
  13. Looks like it might also be with Qwest/Century Link.... Hopone of course, but got some bad ploss with his Qwest hop. What you can try is visiting a site like http://www.pingtest.net/ and see if you have any issues with your connection in general.
  14. I redid the installer not too long ago. Dunno if GetContinuum is using it or not. Might need another update. Think I still have the installer files laying around. I did however upload a zone.dat file to the downloads section, so could always link to that if need be for people with issues.
  15. Almost 600 clicks in 10 days. Not too terrible. More than 3/4 of those clicks ended up in a download. Where things went beyond that, sadly no way to tell.
  16. Lookin good man.
  17. Mind running a trace for a couple hundred cycles? Click on SSCU Trench Wars, then click Trace. Let it run for a bit, and then click Export... and either save it and upload it here, or save it and copy & paste the results from the text file. Will help us begin helping you.
  18. Version 1.02

    331 downloads

Zone.dat file for Continuum. Replaces the original from the installer that may be out of date. Useful when directory servers are down, or if you are having issues connecting to directory servers. Place in Continuum folder with Continuum.exe replacing current Zone.dat Updated 4/27/14

  20. Why 1 new player? Isn't the worst thing that could happen is we retain 0 new players? I'm a glass half full type of person?

    RIP DS

I'd trust him. He has more experience than anyone in this issue.
  22. I've attached files no problem... lemme try another... Seems to work fine to me... Upload, shows them uploading, and no problem. Except I see a bar not a circle...
  23. mm? explain.
  24. 9hrs and already gotten 24 clicks... nothing amazing, sure. But that was 24 more people visiting and possibly downloading the game.
  25. A month or so ago, Ratio (EG Co-Owner) bugged me about starting a chipin for advertising SubSpace. Well yesterday (or day before, god it is all a blur anymore, hah) one of his players donated $200 to the cause. Well, I wasn't going to let him down and just hold his money and do nothing with it as sadly TW has done with their massive donations (prized events are great and all, but it really isn't going to do anything for most your average players, nor trying to bring in new players). Do I think this is the answer to everything? No. Is it atleast worth a try? Sure. We will see where this goes, and Facebook has a nice tracking page for your ads that I can monitor to give updates. If you for some reason want to donate towards advertising the page is http://subspace.chip...ace-advertising but I really would rather just see where this goes first before I say lets donate. And also if we do move servers to Gallitin's server to save some costs, the extra money donated (anything left over after script costs) will also be put towards some advertising testing on other sites. The worst that could happen is we only retain 1 new player, so I don't see anything bad coming from this. But if you do come from the facebook ad, and see this post, feel free to reply. Might be interesting to see what our community gains.
