Small but still significant.

Okay, thanks for clarifying. I guess HS doesn't have any Smods at this time then.
-
Swift Warrior and Fat Cat are mods (well, okay, Fat Cat is in category 'sexy butt' now but I guess he's still 'part'-mod) and Bomook is a mod+.
-
Yea... Anyway Spiders and Leviathans are like tanks... deal with them the same way you would take out a tank in RL.

It is not possible to ?tw out of FRs.

Need help. How to set up a basing Terrier?
Aceflyer replied to Zonnza's topic in Strategy & Player Guides
I use radiating coils most always anyway -
Uhh, how is "Happy Christmas" more PC than "Merry Christmas"? For that matter, how is "Happy Xmas" more PC than "Merry Xmas"? Yes, "Xmas" is the PC version of "Christmas," and "Happy Winter Break" or "Happy Holidays" are PCized expressions, but how is "Merry" not PC?

I'm with you D1. My last final was on the 17th.

That command's in the F1 Help file as well. But doesn't that turn off all sounds (not just PD's sound)? I think eleven there was looking for a way to selectively mute only PD's sounds... (which as far as I know isn't possible, but I could be wrong)...

I play Continuum with my speakers off...

Haha, that happened to me too years ago when I got my wisdom teeth out... except worse, because I got all 4 out... Still, though, the most painful were the bottom 2, so I suppose you went through about 70% of the suffering I went through.

My personal preference is for Falcon Missile, actually, due to its (much) lower energy drain as compared to MOAB... however, MOAB and TacNuke continue to be very popular among Leviathan users. So it's your choice ultimately. Note that Falcon Missile, MOAB, and TacNuke are all only good if you have Shrap Booster as your Gun; if you use Point Defense as your Gun, you'll want HE Missile or Salvo instead.

What Firefox said. Being able to "control time" in this fashion would completely unbalance flag games and make it so flag games are decided almost completely on the basis of which freq has more AD'ers (and more experienced AD'ers).

You can't ID to the hypertunnels now anyway, and ID from the hypertunnels is of limited use at best.

Better than getting hit with a load of PD bullets from a rocketing Leviathan, I say.

It's fairly easy to stop someone using TW extensively to runwin. Here are a few sample strategies: Lay a mine with prox near the safe in the TW Hub. Antimatter Mines, EMP Shockwave, TacNuke, Harpy Missile, and Cerium's Revenge can all be used to accomplish this easily. As soon as the runner ?tw's into the Hub, the prox mine will detonate and the runner's flags will drop, at which point you can grab them. Get a Spider with Pulse Laser and Mezon Capacitor and simply wait in the TW Hub spamming bullets at the safe. As soon as the runner ?tw's into the Hub, a few bullets will hit his ship and runner's flags will drop, at which point you can grab them. The above strategy could also be used with almost any ship with Beam Array. Get Point Defense on a ship, and park it near the Hub's safe. As soon as the runner ?tw's into the Hub, the PD will shoot at the runner and the runner's flags will drop, at which point you can grab them. You can engage ID Drives while in the hypertunnels. You cannot engage ID Drives with flags. If you have even one flag, you will be unable to ?id. You can actually use ?jump when you have flags, but that isn't very useful, because Jump Engines really don't facilitate running.

As some players know, we had the inaugural session of Name That Player (a brand new trivia event focusing on providing a characteristic phrase or word and asking event participants to name the player !@#$%^&*ociated with the previously mentioned phrase or word) earlier tonight (Friday night) for a record over 90 minutes straight. People seemed to enjoy the event, so I'm writing here to ask players to SUBMIT good phrases that could be used in future sessions of Name That Player. (There's only so much I can come up with on my own!) Don't post here; e-mail these submissions to me please using SSForum.net's "Send an Email" feature in my profile. Provide answers also, thanks. A sample phrase would be "he keels you with the eyes" --> Rareitanium. Thanks, and we'll see you at the next Name That Player event!

Then you obviously haven't used those Jump Gates in question at all. The transit points are still the same; only the Jump Gate graphics/images are out of place. As for Jump Gate mining, the lameness of that practice was nerfed significantly a while back when Gates were changed so that you didn't always come out at the exact center of the destination Gate.

Reduce number of thors given by Siege pack to 1.
Aceflyer replied to Masaru's topic in Zone Development
Pssh... the defending team can always get freqmates to spam Repels to Repel enemy Thors away. One ship can have up to two Thors. But one ship can have up to three Repels. Alternately, if Thors are that much of a concern to you, choose a base that has a Thor-proof FR. There're a few of those bases still lying around. The base in Sector 5 comes to mind. -
I'll agree that a massive amount (order of magnitude ~10) of dedicated gunning Spiders can hold off multiple rush Leviathans - even fully equipped ones with AD and all - pretty well. That said, not many teams grow large enough to dedicate that number of players to defense in that manner. OTOH, if you had say just one or two gunning Spiders, one or two rush Leviathans with PD and AD and item spammage could take the Spiders out in relatively short order. Rockets are really fast, really powerful, and relatively long lasting (long lasting as compared to the rockets on say a Lancaster) on Leviathans. Even using three Repels against one Leviathan won't drain it completely of one Rocket. And most Leviathans have >1 Rocket. This is not even to say 'multiple Leviathans' or 'Leviathans with AD'. You've gotta be kidding about Terriers. They have comparatively horrible energy, and really horrible recharge. And their Bursts aren't "super sized" at all. Leviathan Bursts are weak, but with 3500 energy per shot (with ZPM), with their powerful Rockets, with their high bomb speed, with PD, with AD, with 3 Repels, and with Energy Infusion, Leviathans don't need strong Bursts to do damage. Items are limited so any strategy relying on items in order to survive does not imply the ability to "never get hurt." Because you'll run out sooner or later. As for your Spider, Mat, I'm sure you actually can survive indefinitely, if only because you could ?tw away whenever you got low on energy and needed to recover.
