What good does copying netbans to local bans do anyway? Or does TW copy netbans to local bans, and then extend the ban locally (e.g. a 200-day netban becomes a 5000-day local ban or something)?
-
He's already answered that... see below.

I'm sorry to hear that Confess+. You will be missed as a host.

Well, as far as using the jump engines repeatedly around safe, that'd probably fall under 'excessive lameness' from my POV; and as far as spamming that 'p' word repeatedly, that probably wasn't a wise thing to do either. On the other hand, D1 once jumped down my throat not too long ago because I PM'd someone to ask them to stop using a certain 5-letter word that begins with 'wh' that I thought was a bad word, but D1 insisted was fine. Compared to that word, the 'p' word referenced above seems mild, but Iunno, since I'm not staff.

My apologies.

I think the current system's pretty good also.

It is not relevant. This thread was never meant to be about me or why I left; this thread was created to welcome Hi-5 as the new Webmaster and for people to give their suggestions to Hi-5 on what they might like to see on the website in the future. If you guys insist on, ah, discussing me, that's what the other thread is for. (I've already posted the clear reasons why I left in that thread also; there's really nothing else to be said, unless you guys insist those reasons aren't true, in which case you should probably offer proof why my reasons aren't valid).
-
I fail to see how your post is relevant to this thread.

That, er, 'summary line' is rather inaccurate and definitely misleading. Here, if you insist on a summary... 1) I was taken off the zone staff and zone staff chat by the administration. 2) I noticed rather quickly that this put a rather abrupt end to inter-staff collaboration on the website. 3) I realized that it would be much harder for me to stay informed about stuff in a timely manner. 4) I decided it'd be better to allow another staff member - such as Hi-5 - to succeed me, rather than attempt to hang on amidst a sure to decrease job performance.

Uh, the Breaking News section to keep you updated about the latest goings-on and changes in the zone? The Guides section that provide great references on a wide array of HS-related topics? The Squad Roster that has a comprehensive listing of the 'serious' HS squads and their contact information? Chatnut that allows you to chat in HS and a few other zones from your web browser? Contact to give you a complete up-to-date list of the current zone staff?

In case you haven't found out from the index page on the website - sshyperspace.net - Hi-5 has been appointed by the administration to succeed me as the next Hyperspace webmaster! I just wanted to offer my congratulations to Hi-5 on getting the job. With Hi-5 at the helm, the website will have a bright future. Congratulations again Hi-5!

No. Ace wasn't fired. Dr Brain is correct. I wasn't fired from my webmaster position (hence why my original post in this thread was !@#$%^&*led "Resignation from Staff"). However, (before my resignation), the administration did decide, for various reasons, to remove me from the zone staff and terminate my access to the zone staff chat. Since my FTP access to the website's server wasn't revoked, I could still maintain the website, so technically I was still the webmaster. However, my approach for developing the website has always been focused around feedback from and collaboration between all interested members of the zone staff. (I.e. I did the nuts and bolts of the programming behind the website on my own, but much of the design, layout, and even the content were a product of the HS staff collectively.) Especially, development of the planned sshyperspace.net version 2.0 was shaping up to be more of a collaborative effort than ever. The zone staff chat was crucial to this inter-staff interaction and collaboration. Additionally, being on the zone staff helped me stay informed and prepare updates to the site (in particular, the "Breaking News" section on the index page) in advance (in anticipation of updates and changes in the zone), hence making it possible for me to roll out updates on the website almost immediately after updates were released in the zone. Without this source of information, I would have had a hard time trying to provide accurate information about zone changes in a timely fashion on the website. For all these reasons, I felt that it had become effectively impossible for me to continue performing my duties as the webmaster to the degree I felt the HS community deserved. Hence I resigned to clear the way for a new webmaster (hopefully one of the zone's current staff members), who will be better able to continue, and almost certainly improve upon, what I was planning for the website.
-
To make a long story short, the administration took actions that made it untenable for me to attempt to continue to perform my duties effectively as the zone's webmaster.

I may generally be a Democrat, and darkhosis is a Republican, but I agree with him as far as his !@#$%^&*essment of the Reverend Huckabee goes.

I always thought the main use of sector 8 ("Base" was just to have a nice, distant place away from center to put the TW Hub and Scrap & Salvage. You wouldn't want the TW Hub or especially Scrap & Salvage in a sector with an actual base, that would make those bases rather weaker.

Heh I have like a Getaway Pack on pretty much all of my ships that have a Tunnel Runner.

Unable To Create Zones\SSCE Hyperspace\Commands.hlp
Aceflyer replied to oCon's topic in Zone Development
Speaking of commands.hlp, I don't think the final version I made (which fixed a slight formatting error and added yet a few more commands) ever did go live, even though I submitted it to Cerium, and he supposedly uploaded it, weeks ago. Maybe I'll send it to Aquarius again. -
Dear Members of the HS Community, I am writing to let you know that I have notified the SSCE Hyperspace zone owner, Dr Brain, that I have resigned as the zone's Webmaster as of January 7, 2008. Building and developing the current sshyperspace.net website (and, more recently, starting development on a planned sshyperspace.net version 2.0 with the help and advice of my wonderful and supportive friends Hi-5, nikegurl, and S!@#$%^&*) has been one of the most fun, enjoyable, and fulfilling experiences I've had in my 'career' in Continuum. However, after serious consideration, I have reluctantly come to the conclusion that the recent rifts between me and the HS administration have made it unfeasible for me to continue serving as the webmaster I think the website, and the zone, deserves. Hence, I believe that it is best for the website to have new management. Much as I would have liked, and preferred, to help continue develop and improve the website as HS continues to grow, as I depart I take satisfaction in having played a part in laying a solid foundation for the website and its future incarnations. As fulfilling as my webmaster position has been for me, my tenure as a member of the HS staff has not been without strain. As a result, I look forward to resuming my original position in the zone, that of a regular player just looking to have fun in Continuum. I will continue to treasure the friendship and camaraderie of my exceptional friends, especially my former colleagues in the zone staff, at Hyperspace. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to serve the zone as its founding webmaster, and I am sure that whoever is appointed by the zone administration to succeed me as the next webmaster will do an equally good, if not better, job in developing sshyperspace.net. Appreciatively, Aceflyer Webmaster, SSCE Hyperspace, Continuum 2007-2008

That's just so hard to do and the potential benefits are so limited I can't really see any point of doing it.
-
Think of it as some variant of the so-called "sovereign democracy," Hyperspace style. Rareitanium just tends to have a more serious personality and approach. But he is completely fair; in fact, his system for deciding how to enforce rules comprises one of the most precise and objective set of standards I've seen any jrmod use. I'm glad everything is cool. You're welcome.
-
I've never seen Rareitanium "throw a fit when something goes wrong." And I don't think jrmods are required to host trivia as one of their responsibilities... although I could be wrong about this. jrmods can grant money. They can prize powerups (such as bounty, rockets, portals, etc.) They cannot grant actual items (such as cobalt warheads, reactors, fields, etc.)

HS is constantly updating and improving. How does the buy/exp system need to be fixed? It seems to work fine.
-
Also, ?grantexp can achieve what setexp can. I'll agree these two are minor additions. Why not? Swift Warrior once did a very interesting trivia event during a flagging game where the award was one Cobalt Warhead. That's an item. Still a significant power. The fact that it doesn't need to be used often is good, not bad. Ex: D1st0rt rarely needs to arrange a rollback, but would you call that power a minor/insignificant power? Yea that's just for fun.
