  1. These are very nice, well done.
  2. Compiles fine for me when I download from SVN; make sure that the system.mk is properly configured for your setup, or post the relevant parts of the make output to the forums.
  3. As many of you have already heard SSCV are closing up shop. I am willing to host anybody who was previously on SSCV, however there are some requirements: 1. If you're going to demand Subgame2 hosting, you'll need biller connectivity from either SSC or Snrrrubs Isometry biller (both of which are easy to ascertain). 2. You'll need to be willing to learn. I don't mean master new programming languages in a night, but be willing to Google some Linux command line basics from time to time. Unfortunately I can't afford hundreds of dollars for Windows based hosting with all the bells and whistles of software such as TCAdmin, instead you must settle for Secure Shell and FTP. If the amount of zones hosted gets to be something that I consider worthwhile, I'll write a web application to handle some basic zone administration. 3. You must actively develop. If you get as far as compiling your zone and running it (and not login into it for 3 months) then you'll lose your hosting slot. 4. You need to be professional. I provide the service on common-sense guidelines; if I notice that you're giving out your login credentials to a bunch of people whom you shouldn't be (and I do notice these things) I'll end the hosting 'agreement'. Rules also transcend - if you're using the SSC biller, you must abide by SSC rules etcetera. If you'd like to get an idea of the kind of lag to expect on the server (or lack of lag...) then visit any SSL/SSCL zone. Other than that, leave me a message and I will be happy to get you setup!
  4. Yo Lynx! I'm running this by Guest1017, one of our other Sysops. I know he has written wine to run the game on Ubuntu, and posted it for public usage, which I've been using for a year w/no problems. He is way above me on Ubuntu........ Thank you for the offer and we will get back to you! Ted/15973 T3G Sysop No problem, just send me a message on the forums when you've decided. Cheers
  5. I provide hosting but you will require a little knowledge of Linux and ASSS in order to run a zone on my server. I can help with any server issues that creep up but unfortunately I don't really have the time to handhold people through the process. Don't be daunted by either Linux or ASSS, though. There are a lot of friendly people around willing to help! If any of you guys require hosting just send me a message on the forums, I check my inbox regularly. I can also be contacted via AIM: krslynx
  6. For the bots for fly 'naturally' you will need some kind of correction algorithm, as SubSpace ships typically don't strafe left/right. If you don't apply something like that, it will simply look like the surrounding ships are attached to the centre ship. If that's not something you're worried about, then I'd suggest using the equation of a circle in parametric form. For best effects, you'll probably need to convert the rotation angle from SubSpace (which I'm guessing from your question is between 0-39) into radians. Also, as speed is clearly going to be important (as I recall MERVBots aren't terribly fast) you'll probably want to be using both sine and cosine in the equation. If you're still struggling I'll post up a pseudo-code solution of what I think might work tomorrow after my exams are done. ^_^
  7. My bad, I got an ELFCLASS64 error when trying to run initially which caused me to assume it never had 64-bit support, had to export my LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable correctly. Ignore, the dirserver will continue!
  8. Hi, I'll no longer be providing this directory server as it appears that it does not run on 64-bit. Please remove it from your directory listings, and the directory server information site provided by Mavrick. Cheers

    Question

You'd be surprised. Me: ‎(6 / 2) * (1 + 2) = 9... How'd u get 1? lol Me: Oh, you done 6 / (2(1 + 2)) Friend: basically chris i did it right Other Friend: lol nah multiplication is priotity over division Me: Actually, I'm pretty certain they share precidence, hence why multiplication by 0.5 == / 2 ... Then the whole Order of Operations thing came into it (BODMAS/PEDMAS) but then people were claiming you should always work from the closest to the parenthesis. I was never brilliant at Maths (I still got 9) and I figured you nerds would quickly get it.

    Question

Serious question, lots are arguing about it on Facebook. Would be interesting to see what you guys say the answer is.
  11. Hrmm
  12. Well enough made game, just pretty boring.
  13. Well that's embarrassing.
  14. Towards the end of your initial post, you mentioned that you turned off a lot of services, I fear that you're turning things off that need not be turned off. I've always found (when using a system that meets Win7 minimum requirements) that Win7 is much faster than XP, and stays faster for longer (out of the box). I've found that even hackintosh systems are much faster than XP systems. Anyway, I've not measured any differences (no point...) but I've read benchmarking articles that generally agree that Win7 is much better. ... Where does this even come from? Lol

  16. Freedom of speech isn't something that zone operators need to listen to. Welcome to internet.
  17. DSB is currently located in Dallas, TX which is central. Moving to the East Coast will significantly improve lag for Europeans.

  19. Buy a different faucet, or a faucet that matches your need?
  20. He's the one who messaged me about hosting, and set-up the zone, contact him and see what files/information he has if you want to get the zone back on-line.

  22. So, there was a change of mind I'm told?
  23. Nice, can't wait to check it out.
  24. Whoever used to run it came to me for hosting, I think he set things up and got busy as he never logged into the zone/server for months.
