  1. Anyone know whats causing the lag/packetloss on SSCU server, its affecting alot of people.
  2. I take back what i said about mono, i tried it a while ago with a ASP.NET site i wrote and it sucked bad, kept crashing randomly, but they've obviously done alot of work, its usable now.
  3. ECMA also passed OO-XML as international standard with things like "DoLineSpacingAsWord95" in the spec. The only real international standards start with ISO ya i know about mono, its stuck at 1.1 (its 2.0 support is a bit patchy latest ms products use 3.0 now), thats the problem i have with it you cant just take alot of c# code straight across without any problems. Or you are forced to use out of date functions etc, when you'd rather use the modern ones. Thats why I would recommend Java still for this project, (As much as wish java was like c#, i find c# alot easier to write) If it was a windows only project C# makes the most sence, but if you don't want to lock people out, Java still wins imo. As for openness Java is completely open source, http://openjdk.java.net/ how much more open do you want?
  4. The only open source server ASSS is written in C, you can write modules of it in python and C and i think someone make one that worked with c#. c# allows the calling of C code and interfacing with it, which means it should be possible to write ASSS modules in it. You probably could write and entire server c#, personally I would ask that people use JAVA over C# as java is cross-platform and c# is limited it windows. However with some of the annoying quirks of java i can understand someone using c#.
  5. meh SSC is overrated
  6. its not free. gg
  7. The only way in the long term this game will survive is for someone to create subspace 2.
  8. i like grav
  9. I'm a debian man myself On another note, its now entirely possible to run an entire subspace server stack on a linux server (!@#$%^&*s + subbill2 + ddirserv)
  10. I think each zone should celebrate it in their own way, these co-ordinated things never work well However it is a good oppotunity for general advertisment for the game. maybe some spammage to slashdot / digg etc. as many news places as you know "Worlds First Commerical massivly Multiplayer Game celebrates its 10th anniversery" or something a plug about the 0.40 release in there somewhere would be good.
  11. I've done it again. A port of catid's biler! http://forums.minegoboom.com/viewtopic.php?p=74746#74746 Im too good to you guys!
  12. who made the original conitnuum wine? anyone able to get hold of them?
  13. If anyone here runs linux, if you have a moment please test my port of catid's dir server, i am very interested in getting some feedback (ie does it work on other computers not mine) download link is here: http://forums.minegoboom.com/viewtopic.php?p=74575
  14. does that mean it compiles natively on linux? the reason i ask is the directory server compiled under gcc on windows, but still didnt run on linux as it had windows api calls
  15. Having ported the directory server to linux in less than a day it shouldnt be to hard to do merv-bot and any biller. http://forums.minegoboom.com/viewtopic.php?p=74575#74575 This would make alot more people consider ASSS I think for running servers and reduce costs for server owners (linux is cheaper), which can only be a good thing.
  16. i hope everything works out for you. Thank you for the massive contribution that is third space! Hope to see you here again <3
  17. If he had died would the use of a taser have seem appropriate? tasers do kill. In the uk we use them as a less-lethal alternative (as well as baton rounds) to firearms in situations where firearms officers would normally have used guns. He's not a criminal until he has actually been convicted of a crime.
  18. My point is that he didn't have a knife or offence weapon. And there were like 6 cops there. Therefore the use of a taser = excessive force.
  19. The guy was an idiot, not sure if he broke any laws however....All he did was talk....However regardless of the rights and wrong of his arrent Whats wrong is the taser was used at all to arrest him. You dont need to taser someone to arrest someone not carrying a weapon. I think taser use can only be justified as an alternative to leathal force. Just another case of !@#$%^&* !@#$%^&* cops abusing.
  20. have you tried using the beta? http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?act=annou...p;f=7&id=50
  21. Plus the trademark subspace has expired. So you can advertise this game as SubSpace should you want to.
  22. TW ?go ambush = ?go riot EG This kinda things been going on a long time.
  23. Acctually it would be possible to make a subspace protocol version for XBox Live etc. Because those systems already have extensive anti-cheat systems built it, it saves worrying about that to a large degree....
  24. to get continuum to work on vista many people have to use "advanced options->software emulation" otherwise some of the graphics screw up. Apart from that most people seem to be able to get it to run.
  25. this is complete speculation but it would have been a convient time to do it. Maybe the crashing was the results of some bugs being fixed.... I guess this is where dock> ends his involement in TW All i can say is thank you for the help and support for subspace and TW you have provided over the years and the enjoyment and fun you have brought to thousands of players.
