  1. heat (vid card or motherboard) or ram (video or system)
  2. check the advanced options and change some of the settings... personally, i have only the following checked: avoid page flipping no framerate limit
  3. try the compatibilty modes, in the properties of continuum.exe

  5. Bad network settings shouldn't cause the game to run erratically. If you have network issues, then continuum will just sit at the main screen and show all the zones as unavailable, in red... but it shouldn't crash. Leave the network alone for now, until you have the game running smoothly. This seems to be a common problem for quite a few people, and I can't remember if there was a specific solution to it. All I can suggest is to make sure you have all the latest drivers for your sound, video, etc. Make sure you have the most recent version of directX, and use ad-aware or another spyware/virus removal tool.
  6. I hate to say it, but I've had this prob before as well, and the only thing that *might* fix it is changing drivers. If you don't have the latest driverrs for the ac97, get them. If you have them already, and are having this prob, try rolling back to an older version of the drivers. The same is true with directX, but don't roll back the version of directX, leave it alone. Imagine that each sound in the game is given a sound channel. The ac97 tends to "lose" a couple of those channels sometimes. Guns are the most noticable, but there are a couple other sounds that get muted, if I remember correctly. Also, make sure you don't have any other apps running in the background... messengers like yahoo and msn can try to steal the focus of windows, and potentially screw something up.
  7. open internet explorer and go to: http://192.168.0.1/ if asked for a username and password, and you don't know it, try leaving the username field blank/empty and enter the password as: admin
  8. use this: http://beginners.subspace.net/downloads/continuum.exe
  9. use this: http://beginners.subspace.net/downloads/continuum.exe
  10. if you don't know whether you have administrative access to the router, then you probably don't. You can find the full "client" installer on the same page: http://www.sscentral.com/c/?c=playnow&s=index
  11. There's not much you can do about the firewall, unless you have administrative access to it, or know someone who does. Use the full "client version of the installer.
  12. Perhaps you are chosssing a name that starts with a symbol, like * % # etc. You will get that error if you try a name like that.
  13. use this version: http://beginners.subspace.net/downloads/continuum.exe
  14. I doubt that there is a problem with the zone you are trying to play or the game itself. Which leads us to your connection to the internet. Try running a "trace" from the main menu of the game. And while in the game, try using the command ?lag to see if you are lagging. It could also simply be a matter of your internet provider. Using services like AOL or MSN on dialup could definately be the culprit.

    Help plz

Try installing the game via the full client installation, rather than the web installer. http://www.sscentral.com/c/?c=playnow&s=index

    Help plz

I have no idea what you just asked. Please rephrase the question.
  18. In advanced options, play with the "show default resolutions" button. You should also try playing in 8 bit or 16 bit color mode. Most monitors can play higher res with lower color depth.
  19. A more general answer is simply that you have a "hardware" problem. It could be memory errors, could be resource sharing problmes, could even be a broken sound or video card. As far as a solution, try disabling things, like the sound card, and see if that helps... hopefully you can stumble onto the offending piece of hardware.
  20. Make sure you are changing the PLAYER name and not the PROFILE name.
