Weekends, I've no time to play during the week... work long hours usually and then real life crap to do. Weekends, early morning, like 6-11 eastern.

No, they couldn't, admins got the "edited by" as well.... Swift disabled the feature, that's why you don't see it. And Zig, I edit my post for things like grammar and spelling errors. It was easier for me to post the topic, then edit it if there were corrections to be made, rather than previewing every message (which requires an extra button click and an extra page to load.)
-
When editing posts now, you no longer have the option to add/not add the "This message has been edited by....." Any time you edit a post it is added, which I find very annoying. Guess it's back to using the 'ole "Preview Post" button 8(

There is no way anyone on a gamepad can beat my 8 years of keyboard experience. Besides that, with a gamepad, the amount of keys you can press at once is less than the amount you can press using a keyboard. And if you dont think that matters because you never need to press that many leys at once... I do use that many at once, which shows that I have more skill and understanding of the game.

It is NOT a problem in the game, it is due to a crappy keyboard.

Save them in your profile or write them down on paper.

The older version is disabled when 39 is installed. If you try to run it, you will get an error in menures.dll

Make sure the name you are using doesn't start with any odd characters like _ * % etc.

In the zone settings, the zone can be set up to require the graphics. When this is the case, they are not considered "optional" graphics, and therefore, selecting the option to not use optional zone graphics has no effect.

Your workplace might have a firewall/router which restricts the network traffic needed to play SS/Continuum. If you have WindowsXP... right click on Network Neighborhood and choose properties, Double click Local area connection. In the new dialog box, click properties, then go to the advanced tab. Make sure that the checkbox here IS NOT CHECKED. K, I hope that was clear and concise.

I'm !@#$%^&*uming that you had read and tried everything in the pinned topics at the top of this forum. You could also check out http://beginners.subspace.net which has a good amount of well written FAQ and Troubleshooting docs. If you really wanted to test it, you could try hooking up another PC on that network under the same router as your PC, then try playing the same zone (in spec of course, make sure this is ok with your favorite zone's staff.) If they both lag at the same time, then its a network problem, not a PC prob. If only your machine lags, then there is something causing it. To go more in depth requires more info, so I will leave it at that for now. The basic rule of troubleshooting something like this is a ON/OFF thing. Use ctrl-alt-del to view all the apps running, and close anything you don't absolutely need. Trial and error to figure out what it would be.

Yes, just wait about 2 or 3 hours and try to make a new name, make sure you are changing the Player name and not the "Profile" name. Remember that the names haven't been reset in 6 years, so finding a cool, available name takes some creativity.

TFT/LCD Monitors require a lower refresh rate... which would cause improved FPS.

Not when they confuse ppl more than help them (not necessarily in this case, but in general.)
-
Try clciking on Zones, then Download new zones. The feature was added specifically for this purpose. Until a new version of the game is released, we can't expect a new version of the installer (considering that v39pr1 doesn't even have an installer now.)

The scores are globally reset for all SSC zones every other Wednesday.

First off, you need to chill out a little. Do not report your own topics to a moderator, just to make someone come look into your problem... it's just rude. We (not just moderators, but other, helpful players too) visit the site often and will help out as soon as it is convenient for us, AND !@#$%^&*uming we have a suggestion for your specific issue. So just chill out, don't make 4 separate posts about the same topic (I deleted the other 3.) That being said... Read the pinned topics at the top of the tech support forum, they have ansers to the majority of problems people have. Alternately, you can visit: http://beginners.subspace.net/support.php and probably find an answer there. Please be respectful to the forum owners and users, and they will return the favor by helping you out in a quick and orderly fashion. Thanks

The issues you describe about continuum are specific to your machine, and not a bug in the client. The link thing is a new one that I'll try, but the rest of your descriptions sound like they are caused by something else, probably multiple other things. As far as the chat window thing, that means something is stealing focus, most likely spyware or adware, maybe a messenger service like msn or yahoo. Do the standard reinstall/update of drivers, drirectX, etc. FYI: http://www.bargeld.us/storage/chatwindow.jpg

drivers, color depth of the game, software emulation, avoid page flipping Try changing each of these one at a time to see if one of them will fix your problem.
-
Update your drivers and DirectX. If you have Windows XP, then turn off the internal firewall.
-
When you alt-tab, your PC stutters for a sec which prevents it from updating your position in the game. You end up being slingshot out of orbit.

Sounds like support for a different palette was added when the 8/16/32 bit option was added. Thats good news!
