  1. Make sure windows firewall is either disabled or that continuum is given an exception for the firewall.
  2. I only have one account in XP... it has admin priveledges. Continuum has never had a problem.
  3. Check to make sure your name doesn't start with any weird characters like ^&*( Names MUST begin with a letter or number! (see the FAQ)
  4. This is a file permissions error. Chances are that your computer/system administrator has disabled write access to certain areas of your hard drive. Log into windows as an admistrator in order to install and play.
  5. closed.
  6. directX settings? or something software/driver related... maybe check around in advanced properties of your desktop settings (right click the desktop, hit properties)
  7. Maloric, it's actually the other way around. Continuum doesn't detect the spyware and react to it by not running... The spyware reacts to Continuum's presence by thinking it is a malicious app, and prevents it from running properly. The correct solution is for the authors of those pieces of software to put Continuum on their white list, allowing it to run normally.
  8. If you disable the proxy, chances are you will lose ALL internet connectivity... There used to be a nice pinned thread on this topic. Here's the basic idea of the thread: If you are trying to play at school, work, or any other public location and are having problems connecting, it's usually due to their security config. Routers, firewalls, and proxies are all tools used by administrators to prevent unwanted network traffic. The admins have purposefully blocked you from playing the game and the only solution would be to ask the admins to give you access through the system. They usually will not comply and therefore there is nothing you can do about it. To sum up: If you are in a public lab/library/etc. you will probably not be able to play. If you can play at your local public computer station, then either a) you are lucky, the admins don't care, or c) the admins are dumb. Regardless of the reason, count your graces because normally you can't play from a public location like that.
  9. or you using the SUBSPACE client or CONTINUUM? Tell us any error messages that you receive.

  11. There are different types of ram. Make sure that the 64 megs of old ram is the correct type of ram to use.

  13. Big, I get the same behavior on my laptop. I also use ?sound=0 in order to mute in-game sounds while listening to music loudly. It could be a) a quirk in the ?sound=0 and/or an error with the soundcard and playback (somewhere along the audio flow of data) I have soundMax as my primary audio device, if you have that also, it may be a quirk with that model of sound device, or an error in drivers.
  14. sounds like a wireless kb
  15. I'd offer a response, but I can't reproduce it, so I have no clue... sorry! 8(

  17. check to make sure all the game files/directories are NOT set to "read-only"
  18. I don't think there are any programs to let your force your res higher than what your monitor and video card combo can do. You will always be limited by the lesser of those 2 components and unable to force it higher. (besides... it will kill your monitor within a month if you go above it's max res/refresh rate)
  19. If you have had a long period of inactivity, your name may have been deleted and become available to other users. Someone else may have it.
  20. chances are a driver issue or directX. update both Q: Are you playing the game at the same res as your desktop?
  21. In the game's advanced options, try forcing 'tiles' into memory (and try some others if you want).
  22. Try a different monitor.
  23. Bargeld

    low FPS

Hence the 'no framerate limit' option.
  24. sounds like hardware malfunctions
  25. Try compatibility modes.
