  1. Make sure your name starts with a letter or number, no symbols.
  2. Me too.
  3. Notice that the traces don't take the same route. The most important part is that the new path to the server has the following 2 hops (which is where your lag originates) 10 157.130.143.226 theplanet-gw.customer.alter.net 0.0 60 110 460 13 69.56.227.178 69-56-227-178.theplanet.com 0.0 60 130 660 If it makes you feel any better, I'm in the same boat, except that I get specced out of the game when I spike. It's been going on for about 8 months, every 5-30 mins. I've had the cable Co. come out... they found a problem, fixed it, and my spikes were still there. Because of the hassle of scheduling the appointment, I gave up. I haven't been playing much lately, so I deal with it. As far as the ?ping and ?lag thing... you are imagining things Those commands aren't data intensive enough to cause you to lag by using them.
  4. check out the options for 'adjust brightness' use/don't use it...
  5. quick solution, gotta love 'em! - Closed -
  6. just out of curiousity... LCD monitor?
  7. There is no s!@#$%^&*? I don't care whether the last hop has no packetloss or not... Reported ploss, like those 3, indicate problems.
  8. The 3 'other zones' you mention have nothing to do with this trace... A trace is basically showing the path from point A to point B. When you 'trace' a zone, you begin recording the information about each 'hop' or piece of equipment (routers, etc.) along the path. The 3 with bad packetloss are NOT the 3 servers you mentioned, they are 3 routers or other networking equipment, in a row, between you and your destination.
  9. see the packetloss? based on those traces, I would say you shouldn't even be able to play at all! Ask a sysop of the zone to do a *info on you and check your packetloss, as they can get more detailed stats than the trace can. Based on the traces though, I think that disconnections are to be expected. I would also like to mention that 59 kbps is about the same as 7 kB/sec (dial-up speed)... if you have a 600kbps connection, you should be able to reach close to 70 kB/sec (I think you meant kiloBYTEs (kB), not kiloBITs (kb).) Regardless, that's not really an UBER connection to the internet... most cable and DSL services can provide anywhere from 100-300 kB/sec downloads (you have 60-70 kB/sec).
  10. I have this exact same problem at home, although my disconnections only occur every 10-30 mins. I have had the cable co. come out to fix it... they found one prob, but it didn't, ultimately, fix the problem. I would suggest leaving a trace up overnight, or for a few hours and see what results you get.

  12. Scores are reset every other Wednesday (today).
  13. Yes, usually it's something running in the background like iTunes, Instant Messengers (yahoo, msn, etc.), anti-virus/anti-spyware, etc...
  14. change the PLAYER NAME (it sounds like you are changing the PROFILE NAME... which is only for you to separate the profiles in the list)
  15. awesome, have fun! [closed]

  17. Make sure your name starts with a letter or number ONLY. Do not start your name with special characters such as _-$%&& etc.
  18. not a solution to the prob, but a couple comments/suggestions: 1) I've never heard of or seen a PC list CPU usage above 100%. If it is doing that for you, it is definately fishy. If you are referring to the PID (1680 in your screenshot) that is the 'Process ID'. 2) Sort the process list by "image name" in order to select a process easily. Do this by clicking the !@#$%^&*le bar for "image name", above the process list. 3) Uninstalling may not have been completely successful if continuum.exe was running during the time of uninstall. You can't delete an .exe or .dll etc if it is in use. Next time you want to do a full uninstall/reinstall, make sure you delete/move the entire Continuum directory, and then reinstall in a different directory.
  19. my bad... styleXP, not windows themes http://www.ssforum.net/c/index.php?showtopic=7442

  21. Agreed, try plugging in and see what happens... I've been playing wirelessly for over a year now, on a laptop, with < 0.3% Ploss and 110-120 ave pings from FL to SSCX (Seattle, WA). To address SOS's comment... negative packetloss CAN be very bad. What it means is that your packets are being received out of order (out of time) and so the server must interpolate (fake) the packets that it decides to throw away. Example: If you have -100% packetloss, that means that it is throwing away 50% of your packets. (for each 1 it sends, there is one that doesn't make it properly... so you are 50/50). This mean that the server is receiving 50% less usable data OVERALL, compared to the average player.
  22. 3d sound is buggy, I've only heard (and experienced) bad things. Turn off 3d sound!
  23. it's definately a permissions problem. The zone files aren't able to be downloaded and stored in the Continuum/Zones directory. Can you log into windows as an administrator (or an account with admin priveledges)?

    ID number

yes, add yourself to the sysop.txt file OR, in your profile password, add *sysopp!@#$%^&*word (using the sysop password that you set in the server.ini) to the end of your normal password. i.e. - Name: Bargeld password: gamep!@#$%^&**sysopp!@#$%^&*word Set the userID to -1 in the zone files.
