It's a permissions issue? Your user may not have access to write to certain resources (total guess.) But on the other hand, I have seen Continuum run in a 'read-only' directory and the only problems were that it wouldn't remember macro settings or passwords (if told to save) etc. because it can't rewrite profile.dat macros.dat etc.

Try http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com Update drivers and DirectX.

Many of the antivirus programs use "heuristic" methods of "intelligently" detecting new viruii as they are released on the public. If they use similar methods, looking for the same, or similar attributes in an application (such as network access or certain types of compression, whatever) they CAN mistake SS/Continuum as a virus.

Actually, it's been occuring for years. The most common solution is to turn off your antivirus or firewall software because many of the freeware apps will cause this. You may also wish to right click the shortcut to the game and try some of the different "compatibility" modes.

At the game main menu, go to options, then go to the graphics tab. Set color depth to 8 (bit). If that doesn't work, try these: update directX get older drivers run a 2d benchmark test to see if it is broken or working properly

Technically, this is not a bug in continuum, it is a flaw in the Anti-virus app you are using.

right click the shortcut and hit properties Hit the tab for COMPATIBILITY modes Change them till one works. If one never works this is not a solution.

dont change the PROFILE name... change the PLAYER name

a) right click the shortcut to continuum, and choose properties. You will see a tab for "compatibility," click it and try Win 2000 mode first, then try some of the others.... it may or may not work make sure you have all windows updates installed and up-to-date

avoid page flipping and no framerate limit should be checked in advanced options
