  1. I once drunkenly joked with Swift I'd do that... but luckily never went through with it. I'd spend too much time explaining it, and why. Though the if you're someone who knows a lot of "computery" people, I think it'd work as they'd get it.
  2. Actually during our conversations, he toyed with the idea, but was not willing unless more people with the skills needed also stepped up. Sadly this never was the case during any of his projects as it was a normal complaint of his that they need to figure it out themselves. He wasn't going to do all the work, though that was his decision. Someone who has the right mindset to just do it regardless will do it, cause it is something that can't be forced.
  3. It took priit ~3-4yrs of work to get a decent enough client for everyone to accept and move on to. The 1st few years was nothing but programming and developing and testing. The problem is, Priit was a rare person. Someone who made money from other work, and had hours and hours of his day to dedicate to programming. I don't think we'll ever find someone like that again. And the ones we do, are already working on other games that have a large population and are growing/developing already. Our best bet is to get everyone focused on 1 client, and do it as 1 large community effort. And remember... it was about 2yrs before we totally dropped SubSpace for Continuum.
  4. This group isn't totally focused on attracting players as much as it is showing steam we still have an active player base that already supports them. They have yet to send me any e-mails back with updates. Just something I assume is a standard/bot reply of "We are currently processing other games, and will get to 'Continuum' as soon as possible. Sorry for the delay. ." I might resubmit the entire thing this x-mas break. Shipyard is in stand down until Jan 4th for the x-mas holiday, and unless I get called in for something emergent, I'll be off and home. So going to spend some very needed time on SSO/SSF.
  5. Not really. When I started SS, not many zones had a lot of pop outside of VIE zones, but I still went to them cause I figured there'd be more unique settings/gameplay.
  6. You're probably looking for Strike's... I'll see if I can't dig them up. Or search his deviant art: http://elusive.deviantart.com I used his shrunk down for the ss shield on ssf's logo.
  7. No post you make anymore makes quite any sense confess. That or you just don't think before you click that post button. The council not spending money? Half the people who spend money on this game, if not more were/are on it. While I never supported nor allowed the council to get involved in my actions (which many still wonder wtf I was doing, and consider my "rise to power" quite odd, as I've heard this from more than one of them lately) the active ones are the ones keeping this game alive. They are the ones paying the bills, hosting the zones, helping keep SSC alive and running. Freakmonger - Member of the council, SSCC Host Testtube - Member of the council, former sscc host (+ T1 + many other servers), ssdl, etc. Ghost Ship - Member of the council, former SSCE host, the only level headed person keeping the SSC Biller together Hoch - Member of the council, picked up SSCI only to have all the servers be hosting dead zones so shut it down (as you mentioned/requested in your other thread), and DSB Host (he pays, argyle admins) Mine Go Boom - Member of the council, has hosted the server help website and many svs zone websites for quite a long time now PriitK - Hosts almost literally all the rest of SSC (-2 SSCE zones and T3), and until his life became busy, and he began actually MAKING money off of work he did, he was a "Savior" to this game. Pure_Luck - Member of the council, hosts TW's websites Every person on that list, even 2 who've I've butted heads with many time before, I'd trust more than yourself with any sum of money, saving this game, or hosting my websites. There is a reason I ignore your "offers", I have never had reason nor seen reason to trust you. Plain and simple as that. As for getting players, you can advertise all you want, but bringing 10 or 20 at a time into this game won't help. We need something more massive, and we need to make sure we have something to offer. L.C. is doing a good thing with testing the waters of advertising and help figure out what we need in order to advertise. I have no issue giving him money every few weeks to test this, and he's doing a lot of the major legwork, and for that I thank him. But in all honesty, I don't see a lot coming from what he is doing just yet. I think he knows this reading his posts, and I thank him for his efforts. And don't get me wrong. I still think a lot of this community is worthless and no longer tries. But those who are trying, have to realize, for all the years we have ran this game, many efforts are 1 person doing all the work/pulling all the weight. Just there use to be more people doing it on their own than there is now. Only a few times in this games history have multiple people worked together to do anything. And you talk like the council should be some special super group capable of this. Our goal is to turn the council back into what it was originally created for. A group to share info between zones, and make decisions concerning the SSC Biller. Not this "We run the game, not you" and "We're the greatest and best" group that others turned it into. Yes, they will be a governing body who decides wheter a new client should be adopted or not, but they are the zone owners/zone sysops with active zones and actual population... so obviously they have every right there.
  8. Actually for once the council is being cleansed of those who don't make the requirements to be on it, and others are being added (IE: Arnk, Dr Brain, etc.) along with more open requirements being made towards devs.
  9. actually it has begun. It just hasn't been completed yet as it is a process that takes some time. All I'll say is it has to do with the council.
  10. I started this last year, though I use to be involved in this yearly on another forum I visited which has since essentially died (admin fights are fun). It is just kind of spotlighting a charity or somewhere you can donate this holiday season, somewhere many people may never think of. Last year I recommended Lets Bring Em Home, a charity that sent 72 Soldiers home for the holidays. So far this year they have set a new record, and are only 10k short of sending all their requests home (142 tickets bought so far - http://www.lbeh.org/?status). I know a lot of us are strapped, but a lot more of us are doing pretty well off when you look at it. I myself adopted a little girl this year and bought her the simplest of needs... pants and a warm coat. What is sad, this is what she requested. Some kids had toys, but for some it's not all about toys this year. It's basic necessities we all take for granted. Though we stepped up at work, and not a single kid's wish went ungranted. Actually some of us went a bit above and beyond. 1 girl asked for shoes. She liked shoes, but all hers we're old and worn, but a pair of nice shoes was all she wanted. A guy in our shop bought her 9 pairs of shoes. A lot of us shopped for the best deals and shared info, not to get away cheap, but so we could get/give more. So I guess what I'm highlighting this year... All those old clothes you don't ware anymore that are half decent, but for one reason or another you never put em on, donate em. It opens a lot of closet space, and at the same time your giving someone something they possibly need. Trust me, its a feeling you can't explain knowing some little girl will have nice clothes and a warm coat to wear. Take it from someone who was once on the other end... Yeah maybe nice clothes aren't important, just something to keep you warm, but it does really help mentally. Thanks Guys. 11. Well, I know I can track that on SSO/SSF, so I'm sure GetContinuum can see it saying they use atleast 1 of cpanel's included stats programs.
  12. Which was changed after the bang guidelines we're created and put in place. Very few are left from the old days, and the only new ones are the ones on Prime bypassing.

  15. http://www.komonews.com/news/local/78768412.html way more cops than planned, and way more civilians than planned showed up.
  16. The man who committed the crime was killed, and sadly his death picture is all over the internet. I say sadly because it means someone didn't follow the rules, and some kids shouldn't see it. But for a lot of people, its kind of a feel of closure in a sick sad way. Today was the motorocade to the memorial. At 1pm on base, all the cranes in the yard sounded their whistles for a moment of silence. This hits home cause I have a few friends who are cops, including my best friend's dad and step mom. Always hoping they come home safe and sound ever since the shit in seattle.
  17. Something is up with your browser font. I tried FF, IE, and Chrome and all the fonts are the same. On top of that all your other fonts on SSF look smaller than normal in that screen.
  18. Ok... Here is what I am trying to say now that I'm having a less hectic day. The Source Engine is released to developers in a SDK by Valve. People have used this engine to make multiple 2d games, and a few semi-3d top down shooters, and top down style games. Also just some low end 3d games that aren't much. The engine has all the basics already built into it for building a client for SubSpace. Protocol, Network, etc. I have heard that there are some games that have used the SDK but can be run outside of steam. Trackmania I could never find if it used the Source engine. Guess I should re-download steam and look into it all more again. But was just stating that maybe someone who had tried creating a game before (few have came and talked to me recently) mind find it very easy to code SubSpace into a steam enviroment. Just something worth thinking about.
  19. Yeah, there ya go. Been so long since I played CS couldn't think of the damn name.
  20. sent
  21. TrackMania I could never find if it was really coded using Valve's SDK or if it just used Steam as a launching platform. I meant that when I said using Steam's Engine, sorry.
  22. I also now feel using the Steam Engine may, just may be a good way to go. I have seen quite a few decent 2d and low end 3d games made using it and they work excellent. You don't have to be Steam Only to use it either I have been told. This I may look into more. It has all the hard work pre-coded... so dunno might give someone some motivation.
  23. Freak knows now. And more will be happening. Will post later bout it once stuff is more completed/in stone.
  24. Only 9 members short of our goal!
  25. Goal: 100+ members by end of weekend
