  1. Just PM me on SSF like L.C. did... simple. Just need Admins, Zones Hosted, Server Info, IP (for firewall), and any other helpful information.
  2. Yeah, I'll fix it later tonight or tomorrow. I know what happened.
  3. http://www.sscentral.com/stats/stats.txt - Lots more zones now... Just SSCE/RedStar not reporting.
  4. And it'd seem SSCU/SSCX are firewalled from other dir servers.

  6. The whole basis of this idea is great. But the issue is that power corrupts everything, and laziness overpowers all. I think there are some features planned/suggested (though not in this thread), that priit left out for perfectly good reasons. There is no command for billing to delete anything. Why is this good? Because everything done can quickly and easily be undone. An op goes nuts and renames hundreds of people, odds are it can be restored by going through the billing log. But an op deletes tons of people, then a back up is the only choice, and who knows if there are any consistent back ups of the biller. And even so, you could lose a few hundred more accounts, bans, etc. depending on how long it takes to restore a back up. Having BanG and Billing seperate was a good idea also. Keeps seperation of powers, and makes giving higher level bang less risk. The lack of a biller wide alias commmand, also very good. Far too many times do alias bots (though yes, less reliable) connect too many people to aliases they don't own. I know Myself and Swift alias to each other, and to a name trader whos aliases he confiscated after he stole them a few years back. So of course we now alias to multiple other name traders, etc. etc. Imagine having this biller wide, just not in a single zone. You could alias 1 person, but connect them to 300 other people who they may never have known. That and so many common macids... this i'll never understand (except macid 1). As for limiting accounts. You can try, but it won't be successful. Name traders have nothing better to do with their lives than find ways around the system to keep hundreds of aliases. I know 1 TW player who has 384 active aliases. Granted that is just the limit of what I could pull. So who knows how many more he has. A lot of suggestions here user function wise are nice. But just thought I'd mention a few others brought up elsewhere.
  7. All but 1 task completed. Not terrible.
  8. Nowhere am I saying it is a replacement. But I will do everything in my power to keep it up and running as long as possible. It uses so little resources on the server I dunno why I didn't set it up before. Might let TT know how I did it so he could set one up also. The only thing I don't get though... is zones have added it to their directory, but it isn't adding them...
  9. Check the new SSC Acceptance Guidelines up and posted Here. Hopefully we will see more servers applying for SSC, and more zones getting onto SSC hosts.
  10. Due to recent issues with ssdir.playsubspace.com, and sscentral.sscuservers.net being down for quite some time now, I decided to setup a directory server on SSCentral.com. The list is very limited right now, but I have contacted a few zone sysops to add sscentral.com to the directory line of their server.ini. So if your zone isn't listed, or a zone you frequent, go ahead and add it or ask one of the sysops to please add it. For sysops - *s*Directory:IP:sscentral.com,ssdir.playsubspace.com,sscentral.sscuservers.net And then *recycle And for those interested in stats, they update every 15mins @ http://www.sscentral.com/stats/. Thanks and Enjoy!
  11. Have to be the 1st to say it... So the SSC Wall Falls!
  12. I told him to use it. And SSCL and SSCR I don't remember ever being used... Also, there has been multiple SSCAs and SSCTs... so what is wrong with another SSCB? or SSCBT?
  13. One of the recent suggestions on the SSCouncil was to be more public about topics being discussed and decided upon. Well, luckily the 2 recent big topics are not only big to the council, but big to the entire game itself. Brand spanking new SSC Acceptance Guidelines have been ratified, and will take effect immediately. These guidelines are more open, and will give more zones the chance to join the SSC Network. Hosts will still be held to the same strict rules as in the past, but will have more flexibility in adding zones to their servers and SSC. Once the guidelines are posted on the council website, I will update with a link. Also, the long running BlueT server will be allowed connection to SSC Billing. This is a huge step as it has been a long time since a new server joined the SSC Community. 2 former SSC zones are hosted on BlueT, but 1 newer zone will finally have its shot at SSC, and we all wish them luck in the future. Hope to keep you updated with more good news from the council!
  14. RSS feed would be quick and simple... I've been toying with the SSO twitter a bit trying to see how I could feed into it. I did find I could post to it from Trillian so did a test with that I haven't deleted yet. But dunno yet.
  15. The Y2K10 bug has been officially squashed by PriitK, and SSCU/SSCX were updated a little over a week ago with no issues. He has now sent us the new subgame for release. To download, click here and then click download file. Much thanks to Priit for fixing this bug, and the others for making the temporary fixes they did to help out. (Note: Version is still 1.34.14b, but the minor bug will be fixed)
  16. off to spam with this one....
  17. Least hits, no, just the beginning of the drop. And actually I found it odd too, but just means less people were posting, but posting more.
  18. Just some basic stats people sometimes find interesting... Hits, Views, and Topic Views rounded for ratios. I have Hits/Views and Hits/Topic Views goals I like to see SSF Achieve, and round numbers make the ratios cleaner. Beat goal of 1:50 Views:Hits (1:45), but barely above goal of 1:75 Topic Views:Hits (1:78). Taking into account 8,750,000 hits were bots, not a bad year. Not our greatest though as we fell below the 2,000,000hit/month mark in September. But still above 50,000 views/month.
  19. Real players. Want this legit. Thinking of using an old friend's modified SVS+EG sets. If he still has them.
  20. D1st0rt is up? Looking at file edit dates, I didn't thinky you were even using Maverick.sscentral.com anymore so moved it to: http://history.subspaceonline.com/maverick/
  21. For years we have made lame advertisement videos, minor attempts at greatness, but none have ever captured SubSpace itself. I was laying in bed last night, had been working on a video with a friend of mine helping him with some stuff for school, and was still thinking bout ideas for it. Had the music channel on tv and Breaking Benjamin's Blow Me Away came on. Reminded me of the old SS Video I was working on like my x-mas video I did a few years ago. I was thinkin bout the ss intro, and hundreds of ships fighting, etc. The downside to that video, though awesome, its 3D... we're 2d... Then the idea struck me... What if we got 100+ people in 1 zone, in 1 arena, some basic settings, simple map, and just had them dogfighting it out. Yes, a very hard feat... unless TW is down to help. In that, we have atleast 100 players already in there, and it is just bringing more in from the rest of SS. I dunno. Just an idea... and if people are willing to go for it and help, I think with some simple video editing, music, and the right graphics, we could really make something worth... showing regularly. Again, just a late night idea I thought I'd share.
  22. I have to say so far I like google analytics... it doesn't seem to record page views from Bots that die, nor looking at it bots period. Compared its stats to server ones, and found the difference between the 2 was normally about equal to the # of visits and views bots had made. Not always which still has me confused on 1 day there is like a 200 visitors difference, but typically seems to be the normal. Also doesn't record everytime someone refreshes a topic and crap, so instead of 1,500,000+ hits, shows the real amount.
  23. Wow, for someone who tries to talk like a vet, you seem to lack knowledge of when those 2 zones you discussed popped up... Extreme Games, or Rompball as it was formally called, has been around since '97. And Trench Wars and Trench Wars Dark were having their big fight while VIE was still in charge. Quite a few other player made zones are still around from the days of Jeff and team also. So go back to your SVS elitist group and try again, thanks. On a side note: I love doing ?userinfo on some of these SVS "vets" who talk crap and find out that "I've used this alias since I started in 98" was really 2003-2005
  24. I was recently notified by Ghost Ship that PriitK has updated all the SSCU/SSCX zones he hosts with a fixed subgame, and that the fixed version should be on its way to his e-mail. Will keep you guys updated on when it is released.
