  1. http://community.invisionpower.com/topic/311218-ips-introduces-iphone-app-for-ipboard-communities/ I may upgrade to 3.1 Beta3 today. Will keep you updated.
  2. Check general forum listing, the 4 of you should notice something new http://www.ssforum.net/public/style_emoticons/default/blum.gif
  3. (Note: Sum up at bottom) So over the years, I have done MANY upgrades, changes, designs, sites, backends, scripts, etc. etc. All have been out of boredom, need, or just to test theories/ideas to see what will work or won't work for keeping my projects alive and running. SSForum was a wacky 2 am idea that has lasted for almost 8yrs now. SSCentral.com went through many faces, but sadly peaked years ago. SubSpace Online while catchy, has proven not to be the central domain for all my projects/work. Though the site's content and design will live on. I was showing a buddy of mine some of the stuff I have done around SS over the years. As where I work, knowing stuff about computers makes you very useful (I work in an industrial shipyard for the government... not many computer smart people) and showing what you know can make you even more valuable. Well, he asked me "Why is there like 5 websites just to browse around the game? Seems kinda stupid to me. Go here for files, here for forums, here for news." I told him about my idea to combine everything, but then he also agreed with most people, and my 20-20 hindsight that while SubSpaceOnline.com is catchy, http://forums.subspaceonline.com/ or http://files.subspaceonline.com would be... rather long to type out. Now I don't think I should replace any site I don't run, but competing with SSDownloads is inevitble in trying to centralize. Blast back to 2000. I was just getting into the ss web scene after finding there was more sites than DS98, SSHQ, or SSNet that were thriving post-vie. This gave me the urge to create my own website... SubSpace Gamers Network it was to be called... I got a free domain, and began working on a cool design. Sadly, as was normal back then, there were 20 others doing the same as me. So that year I was offered staff working on SSCentral.com and a few other small sites I forget. I lost the domain when I couldn't buy it after the free domain site shutdown. Well, a few months ago, my domain FINALLY was released... yeah.. 9yrs of being controlled by domain buying sites... lame huh? But it is 4 chars, can't expect much more. Well, since aquiring it a lot has been going through my head... Combining... New staff structure... finding someone to once again be my right hand man... Anyways... the sum up follows... Sum Up - SubSpace Online, while a good idea, is failing, no matter how much I mention it to people, try advertising it, etc. The biggest complaint is how long the domain is (So fucking lame). It sadly isn't going to fill its purpose. - The design/content are still VERY usable under a different atmosphere. - I will be hiring a lot of new staff to help manage a new central domain. No more running this solo. It is time for you guys to put up or shut up. No more counting on 1 person to do this alone. - SubSpace Gaming Network will be the name. SSGN.net the domain - People from outside our game have mentioned how odd/stupid it is to have to visit multiple websites just to even GET STARTED in the game. Even GetContinuum.com doesn't contain everything they'd want / have grown to expect from other games. - I have been trying to do this for a while now, but just lack the support. And am now aiming to go about finding those players who are willing. - I will also be hiring/centralizing an "authority" behind promoting subspace internally and externally. This person and their support team will have my full support, and will be in charge of all of the sites promoting/advertising. This has been long coming... and I have had a lot of support/push for this idea by sysops/old timers I trust. And my gut feeling is this will work, and will give me the ability to enjoy this game again. My #1 concern. Cause if this game continues feeling like it does right now, almost like a burden where I could care less to visit my own sites, I might as well just shut them down. Edit: quite possibly everything I'll be looking for if I get the support/help - http://polix.subspaceonline.com/staff.txt
  4. SSC Billing connectivity has been restored to SSCU Death Star Battle and the many zones on the SSCV server. Took some extra digging on Priit's part to find the issue, but it has been resolved, and hopefully won't happen again.
  5. That is a zone forum. Zone's staff handle their forums, not SSF Staff. Sorry.
  6. Got Beer Hunter to help me test the things priit/gs suggested with DSB and nothing. So it seems it is on the biller end. I wonder if it isn't the firewall. So just waiting on Priit.
  7. IM me, Priit e-mailed back with a suggestion as he sees nothing wrong on the biller end.
  8. lol. You talk like countless e-mails haven't been sent to him on this subject, or on any other subjects of things that'd be nice to have again (IE: Scores). You need to calm down sometimes dude.
  9. The main issue we face (though we thought was fixed) is Continuum for some people will just resort to where it doesn't load, and bounces all around in your process tree. Continuum loads fine outside of steam for these people, so it isn't fixable by the normal work arounds. I ended up finding contact through a friend of mine's cousin who went to school with the guy. He had enough strings/connections to get in contact with a friend of his that worked in the right department, and it went from there. Submitting directly to steam got me nothing more than automated/pasted replies and never got a final resolution. They reported in some tests our game would not load. I had e-mailed the guy telling him about the issue, and he replied that they had killed the process in the task manager. He recommended we have our programmer contact them, and they can help work out a solution/fix for this. Obviously this wasn't happening, and again it died there. This honestly was the furthest we have ever gotten with them on getting Continuum added, as in past tries I know myself and others were knocked down because we did not "own" the game. But I explained pretty well how we are player ran, and BDE has left us to run ourselves peacefully and quietly as long as we make no profit. He actually thought it'd be cool to pick up such an old game and promote it with Steam, and was sympthetic to our need. But alas, it all came down to programming. So sadly... unless we got priit involved or adopted a new client, Steam can't launch our game properly for everyone, and so we're stuck.
  10. Currently SSCU Death Star Battle and all SSCV zones are experiencing issues with SSC billing connectivity. PriitK has been notified, and hopefully a solution will be found soon. All the zones are still online and playable, but chats functions won't work, and scores are not being saved. Will keep you updated on this.
  11. 2nd one would be your culprit.
  12. ASSS will constantly keep crashing/restarting when connected to the biller proxy. Or from a recent experience with it atleast.
  13. I guess the simplest way to state it... If you don't like the way SSC Billing operates, then don't connect to it. And as for 2 zones, the 2nd zone wouldn't have original content, so it doesn't meet the guidelines. Now if a zone sysop had a really good reasoning, he could submit it to the council, and let them decide. Anything that is questionable by / doesn't meet the basic guidelines, goes to the council. If they ok it, then it goes on. If they don't, then it doesn't. Or you could just submit it to the council from the get go, and save the time. Really it was never said that zones didn't have to go to the council, but it was also not said they had to. Part of the point of the guidelines was leaving it up to the hosts to be the first POC for a zone wanting to get on SSC. And as long as it followed the guidelines, it could be done. Ghost Ship in turn gave Mom and myself the go ahead to be the POC for hosts to get slots and have us do the final check/approval. Any that were questionable would be told to submit a request to the council for approval. We're not trying to be assholes and turn zones away. To be honest, there is currently 2 hosts and 10 zones that would of never been on SSC had the council/guidelines overhaul not happened.
  14. Well, the question is though, did they really commit a crime? Technically it wasn't stealing as it was found just left laying around. You're not REQUIRED to turn something into the police's lost and found. People do this to other coorporations all the time, and nothing happens.
  15. Essentially for now the only benefit will be the ability to post without waiting on approval. Oh and can have a gmail inbox which will soon be a short 4 char url (name@ssgn.net) with a few aliases (@sscentral.com, @2dspaceshipgame.com (might have expired actually now I look, oops), @ssforum.net, @subspaceonline.com).
  16. mm... so did this ever take off? Sorry I never piped in, only just now read through some of my old private messages, and people asked me bout this. I would support it on SSF/SSO if it was done, and could provide some entertainment. Lemme know.
  17. Seriously surprised noone has posted about this yet. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/36875060/ns/technology_and_science-tech_and_gadgets/?GT1=43001
  18. The issue is, the guidelines were made without SVS zones in mind. I don't think any of us even considered anyone would want to try and start anymore SVS zones as they have all been dying, and merging into Chaos. The creator(s) of SVS zones no longer exist. So we end up going with the SSC versions most recent head sysops as the people in this seat. The zone names themselves are property that are outside of VIE's SubSpace CD release of the maps and setings. And Bargeld said the map and settings didn't bother him, but he didn't want him to use the name. That is a request I can respect, and honestly, the zone isn't out West anymore, so Alpha West really doesn't make any sense. As for the maps, as I told TGS, it is just out of respect of other SSC zones. I'd have had to see a really good reason for it to be denied, but it just gives them a heads up when all the players come to that zones sysop whining about it. Players are what are zones are about, and they're the best at harassing people. Like Hyperspace was given permission to use Premiere League's map (I asked Ghost Ship for them, and permission was given) but due to constant harassment from Premiere League players, I think they finally took it down. Or I had heard they did, but never checked tbh. Respecting each other is what SSC is all about, and it is all that keeps us alive. Once we start pissing each other off, and disconnecting ourselves from each other again, we'll begin the huge fall again. We've finally leveled off, and the network sysops are getting along decently again. We can't do this alone, and need to work together if we plan to have a future. Sorry, bot a bit off subject, but yeah. That is my whole feeling behind all of this. I have pretty much been left in charge of inspecting new zones that want to join the SSC Network, and I am very lenient on it. But when it comes to SVS, it is honestly very messy, and very hard to lay down ANY sort of rules without just getting the entire game to say "VIE no longer owns SVS, and the current svs head sysops now own the rights to the content". Which of course could never happen, and legally is wrong, so we're stuck here.
  19. No, its not paid. SS Staff has never been paid, lol. Anyone else interested? Could still use someone for EG, HS, Chaos, and Powerball. Maybe someone to monitor the SSCC, SSCV, SSCL servers and other smaller SSC zones (SSCU/SSCX, T3).
  20. You could get a cheaper, and from the stats I remember, better server very easily you know. Yes the move would suck, but you aren't using too much resources, and the zones you are hosting are mostly dead. And 2 of them I know are possibly planning to move... Actually both are currently online on a seperate SSC server afaik.
  21. I would like to hire a few community members who would like to help keep SubSpace Online's frontpage alive and active. The site is totally open for anyone to post news here, but it'd seem not everyone always thinks to come here right away when they post news on their zone's website. So to help with this issue, I would like to have a few people who's main job is to visit zone websites, forums, or even just events in zones and report news. Post a comment in this thread if you are interested, and what server you'd like to cover.
  22. Because you'll just get a swift too bad from the bang ops, hell even myself, I would like to hear the story of how this happened. Elaborate on someone using your account to cheat, thanks.
  23. http://community.invisionpower.com/ 3.1 wasn't released as soon as I expected. Comes with it.
  24. not the last mobile one. this one does.
  25. What is odd is I have never had issues with them, even out of that datacenter. Priit might move hosts, but would be some pursuading... Will see if anything can be done I guess, now that he is "actively" communicating again.
