Saw a screenshot, no way in hell that's more user friendly than ?buy. It might be for newer players, but then again, how is scrolling through a list of items going to do them any good if they don't know what they do?
-
My only concern would be Hyperspace turning into Trench Wars. Bullets should be a tad faster. Not significantly - dodging should still be possible. Probably should decrease ships' speed but keep thrust similar as well. Also, Cheese, other players aren't being hit by Extraweapon. They're being hit by your packets, with a weapon added to them. The only time it gets a kill is when you suicide with it.

Cheese!> i could make an evener in thirty minutes* Spidernl> go ahead* When did I say it wasn't welcome? Oh, I forgot, you're a compulsive liar. *) not exact wording, but very much true to what was said. inb4 fake quote by cheese

An image that would indicate how much time you have left before being specced. Not a bad idea, really.

Which is intentional. Also, I agree with a few of your points, Monkey. Double rewards are a little out of wack, and will likely be disabled soon. Nanomite is far from ideal, and I have a few ideas to make it more interesting (read: remove the current 'completion' goal and replace it with an entirely different one). Never been a fan of AT altogether, and double rewards does make it worse. You seem to be a fan of the old hero ships. I'm not. I do want to see more teamwork, but I understand that it's hard to really work together with random people. Many people also prefer fattening their wallet (sitting back and gunlining) over being the best they can for their team (which does not necessarily mean fielding/bricking, but simply being more aggressive in general helps). Any ideas to reward more valuable players are welcome, as this would automatically encourage currently less useful players to try harder. Think monetary rewards - that's what motivates pretty much everyone anyways. And no, flagging privs that rule the zone are not a welcome idea. Pests set up a site he should have told you about that should help players provide input for me. I agree that multiple minds would be more efficient and likely lead to better development than just 'me' doing both the actual development and the brainstorming. However, a few of the more vocal players have views that completely clash with mine, and there's no way I can make it work with them. Sue me.

Hitlers Oven would, for most sane people, refer to the fact that the nazis used to cremate jews after they were gassed. Even if it's not literal, it's not far-fetched to link the name to that at all. Please, remind me why this is less offensive than someone named "Penis", which refers to something every man has (or well, almost every man).
-
Wait. I stopped reading at the point where you said male genitalia are more offensive to you than genocide. You were saying?

ASSS is unstable only if your coders mess up. A 'clean' ASSS server doesn't crash, really.

Banning a specific player seems to cause everyone to get banned. No idea why. Should be fixed now.

Well, back in 'the old days' 30 or so bots weren't that much of an issue because total population was quite a bit higher. However, 30 or so bots nowadays, even in TW, are a significant chunk of their population that "doesn't actually exist". It's not nearly as bad as arena sharing, which shows/showed dead zones as 100+ population, though, I'll give you that.

So you have to predict when it's best to place, and charge up at the right moment. If current charge rates make this too difficult, I can increase them. However, keep in mind it's a non-sig emitter. Odds are that the moment everyone considers the item 'worth using', every fool and their dog will have it.
-
The idea isn't to keep stealth on all day. You place one or two when you suspect they'll be most cost-effective. Same way you don't hold tab continuously to bomb, but wait for the right moment. If the current charge time is too long at 10 seconds, I could further reduce that and raise the energy cost as well. Edit: stoopid phone keyboard

I think it's mostly the balance of weapon speed and ship speed that's a tad off. Running would be far more difficult if either ships were slower, or projectiles were faster. As I think projectile speeds are fine, reducing ship speeds is the most logical option. In short: I agree, and it's one of the things I already took into account in the new item set that I put on hold, and it's something I am also taking into account in the mass item set that I hopefully will finish. Just noticed that wasn't actually much shorter. Oh well. Edit: I'm open to suggestions for shields that make them less hit-and-run favoring. It's an issue I also am aware of, but I couldn't come up with any good solutions. Note that they'll always have to have some sort of cooldown/recharge system, as settings packets are too large to be sent very often.

What makes you think making those zones subarenas of a larger zone will suddenly make people play them?
-
Where'd you get that idea? I wasn't aware that we disliked peering. We just don't like zones deliberately using it to inflate their population. Quite a few zones (whichever ones use ASSS, at the very least) could keep the functionality while getting rid of the fake population issue without spending much more than half an hour, yet they choose not to. You should ask yourself which sane developer would choose to keep a clearly 'bugged' implementation of a feature that's likely keeping new players away on a daily basis in a game where even a single new player is a significant gain.

The context in which you used the word was also offensive. Since the rule is there to prevent offensive language, this seems as warranted as it gets. Edit: The only thing I can spot that's debatable is the fact that he used the word afterwards to indicate it was the one he fined for. Odds are that was in PM, though. If he really wanted to be annoying, he could've just fined you for abusing ?help as well. Would've been good fun to see you complain on the forums then. Topic closed. You still don't get that in order for this to be taken seriously at all, you don't take it to the forums.

The gameplay type is "collect flags and drop them". Might as well call it turf if we change it to what Unix suggested.
-
Thorring isn't all that bad until multiple people do it. You call that teamwork. With field delay, the same now applies to fields, and has always applied to things like lancs (get a huge number of those and your team is indestructable), etc. The only 'fix' is reducing the number of thors buyable and useable at one time. However, people will always find something new that'll be considered 'lame' sooner or later.

Do you even play this zone? A terrier with a speed-based setup is a larger, faster-recharging warbird. Dito for weasel compared to jav, other than EMP (which admittedly is a big difference). Slow, otherwise specialized "medium ships" are sitting ducks in center. They'll die sooner or later. Warbirds with patience will eventually mop up a javelin, but if the javelin gets a good hit, it might be over before the warbird gets its chance. I'd say a 1v1 warbird versus jav fight is quite warbird-favored. A well-built shark will beat anything short of a turret in center. It might just take a while, as the only reliable gun it can use, Gauss, lacks a little punch and EMP, though effective, doesn't make for a good finisher. Unlike a warbird's Tau Blaster, Falcon- or Harpy Missile. Ever since I toned down Hydrazine Rocket a tad, Spiders and Leviathans have no real place in center, other than as part of a turret. As for lancasters.. A fast Mass Driver one can be surprisingly good until it's inevitably ganged up on.

Seems like we're getting there. Only took a couple years.

I agree cobalts are getting stupid due to people's wealth. No idea what Cheese is talking about, though.

I would personally move most of the Subspace-specific things to clientside modules. Bursts, repels, the split between guns and bombs (maybe someone would want a third weapon type, "heat seeking missiles", using some generic weapon interface), that kind of thing. Not sure if you're already planning to do this, but I just figured I'd mention it. Making "subspace" a set of modules that mimic the setting rather than the core of the game would make it much easier to make completely different zones.

Half showing up is optimistic, yo.

It's pretty hard in most of those screenshots to even find the line where he's avoiding ignore. When half your screenshots show something so mild, it's hard for staff to be bothered. Lesson learned: don't waste our time for every little thing. One line of showmoney -exp is not harassment. One line every day is getting there. A whole bunch of lines that actually disrupt your daily activities is certainly 'punishable'. Edit: I'm also done with this trial by forum. Maybe we should have a rule against that as well.

An entry fee of $0 means that every fool and their dog will sign up. You'll expect them all. Half will show up in the best case scenario.
