    Pub 1

Insufficient population. We can't afford splitting up pub into two arenas. Not particularly interesting idea either, I'd rather revive privs and find some way to make them work in a flagging setting without inevitably turning flaggames into flank fests between either a pub freq and a priv freq or between two pub freqs attacking a private freq. I'm not really a fan of this kind of the elitist idea behind it either, really. Let's all get along. Edit: Also, the problem with 7v7+ flaggames being somewhat problematic (too much spam, no real options to leak or do anything interesting other than repel sumo) can be addressed differently, as it is mainly a base issue. Small bases don't really work with large flaggames, while wide-open, large bases don't work well with small flaggames.. There might even be some plans to solve this, but they require a couple coding changes here and there and various map modifications. Edit2: Wait, I don't follow. Why is a "ZB" required for this? What can a Zone Bot do that a module can't? Protip: this is a rethorical question and the answer is "nothing".

  4. I'd get bored pretty quickly if I could max out all my ships faster, seeing as I enjoy the "way there" but once I'm there, there's not a whole lot left to do.

  6. Moving this to trash talk. For the record, writing news.txt updates for you, acting as a referee for you, keeping track of brackets and all the other things I did FOR YOU are not my "duty". I consider "tuesday morning till saturday morning" "a week" if I'm talking about it on that saturday, yes. Sorry for confusing you there, it must be quite hard for you to understand. Do everyone a favor and do what you said you would; leave HS.
  7. You asked me for a favor - putting your tourney in news.txt - and real life got in the way (an introductory week for my new university I'm going to). I didn't even get anywhere near a PC for the entire week. And then you come in and act like an idiot in pub trying to make people believe your lies. Also, you are aware that even if I did something silly like lock an arena (nice job snipping the quote, too), you could just go to like boxduel2 and use that? Tool.
  8. Wait what. I hadn't even been at my PC for like 4 days before today. So you're going to lie and claim I'm not doing a news txt because I'm a "horrible javelin"? Well, at least you made sure I won't bother to do one now. Good luck finding people to lock the arena and such, too.
  9. "Bringing back the old pd" just means getting rid of Calibration Chip, really.
  10. Being drunk isn't.
  11. I buffed impulse quite a bit at the start of this reset. I might look at this item set a bit more but I'm more concerned about the balancing of a future item set.
  12. I'd actually consider things you say if you didn't blow things out of proportion to try to make a point. Yes, PD needs a nerf in some way (although I might not bother until next item set, as it might actually use energy there, as a constant drain..). No, it should not get its DPS halved because it can actually aim now. Phoenix beats the crap out of falcon. I suggest you use a Javelin with Shock Matrix and Falcon against a similar jav with Phoenix. Try and run into it. Notice how you just died. Edit: Thing with Phoenix is that it has a ridiculous theoretical maximum damage output. Low delay, exceptionally high shrapnel count. Of course, that doesn't mean it actually does all that damage consistently. It has two stats that, at their very peak, are the highest of all bombs (and guns, actually): damage output per second if all shrapnel hits as active shrapnel (2562) and damage per energy in that same scenario (10.786).
  13. You know just as well as everyone else that that isn't going to happen
  14. Don't read comics. Other than Asterix & Obelix and that kind of good stuff. Also, your signature combined with your post make for a pretty suspicious combination.
  15. It'll be cooler, of course.
  16. What's so sad about it not using the mass system?
  17. "We at Hyperspace" sincerely hope this ridiculous population inflation will stop. That is why HS pretends to have +1000 in the first place. The 1000 fake population will be gone the day TW & friends get rid of theirs. Hopefully it provides some extra incentive for them in the meanwhile.
  18. No.
  19. Hrm, more contrast - rather than less - would be better, in my opinion. Darkening the surrounding texture would make the actual "ship image" stand out less.
  20. I'm impressed, Avast. I hadn't thought your posts could become any more stupid than they were before, but you have succeeded.
  21. Doesn't change the fact that I think laughing at "someone's impending death" is, in my opinion, pathetic. Trying to deliberately hurt someone using facts (as "severe" as these) from their life that they are probably trying to get away from by playing a game like subspace in the first place isn't something anyone should do, no matter how much you dislike someone.
  22. Didn't care; didn't read.
  23. The menu seems a little too slow to me. It looks cool and all, but make it possible to zip through the menus if you've seen them before. I always hate those new games that think they should make menus play 500 animations before I can select anything. @Avast: the thing is that any new (open source) client means client-side development becomes possible. Basically: ship 9 or mouse-controlled menus are no longer a hardcoded impossibility (just to name a few specific things). Whether or not the client has anything new right on release is irrelevant.
  24. "Developing" in the sense that someone has to make a map and tweak a couple settings. I agree it wouldn't be much work. Fact is that any event hosted at any time will reduce population. The people who spec after a flaggame will not suddenly start flagging again if they get an event hosted "between those two flaggames". They'll just spec as they would have "normally", after the event. Now, this doesn't mean that we shouldn't host, but it's a fact that hosting rarely if ever has a positive effect on population. Maybe we should work on some kind of "event system" where players who enter the zone during an event are automatically forwarded to whatever arena it's happening in. That'd mean the event has to be enter-able while it's running, though, or people will just leave anyways.
