  1. Try to not run Vent, see if that makes any difference. The connection time, as far as I know, will be determined by what connection you're on. -L
  2. Bak, I'll give you SSH to a server if you need it up. Just message me -L
  3. cool, i might do it for the cash too then.

  8. I'd play there, actually... Looks pretty epic.
  9. Wow, make me a sig.
  10. Question One: Open up server.cfg, somewhere near the top there is an arena setting option. There will be a comment to expand on this further to give you more information on exactly what arena option to choose (I believe it's between 1-5) - one of which will force the main arena settings to be spawned, once you've done that place every .cfg file apart from server.cfg into a separate folder for backup reasons. Question Two: You can either place the password in the Auto filed which is not secure from a log keeping point of view and won't provide you freq numbers etc, or you can place it after the password (i.e. password123*staffpassword) which is not secure as anybody can log in with it but will provide full functionality. If you want a much better solution, move over to ASSS. Another option would be to look for a bot that sends staffers a PM with the staff password as they log in, there is probably one laying around, if not it wouldn't take longer than 5 minutes to write such a plugin. Question Three: You can either download software that changes the administrator password for you, Swift mentioned how to do that. You will need to put it onto a USB drive, or a CD image and boot from it - the user interface on these applications is usually very straightforward and Win.2K security blows so even if your password is salted, it'll still be easy to crack. Question Four: http://utorrent.com - download torrent client http://www.torrentz.com Run a search for Windows Admin Tools or something along the lines of that. Run a virus check against whatever you download, just to be safe. (And after reading the rest of the thread..) Ophcrack will also do the trick, and you defo will not get burned. If you don't have a screen though, well.. You're fucked. -L
  11. People who complain all the time will complain about you complaining? Must be crazy. -L
  12. ASSS isn't hard, you just need to get yourself thinking nix. Once you've got an idea of how to run/use Linux, you'll be competent with ASSS - then it's all about taking risks with your zones configuration files, source code, anything - so then you understand what everything is doing, and furthermore understand what will crash the zone and what won't. Either way, you'll have SSH to the zone, so if you crash you just reboot, and if you get stuck, i'm just an E-Mail away from getting you back on your feet. Don't quit on something because your outside of your comfort zone, once you do that, you're a newb. =) Good luck, Lynx ps. Google is your friend.
  13. Why?
  14. It's gone?
  15. Well, strictly speaking there is no real copyright on the map, the settings or anything the previous person has made - so just put it up... Legally you have nothing to worry about, and if somebody complains now about, as brain said, a *very* dead zone - they're just a troll. I'll even host it. -L
  16. I don't see what Pure is doing wrong? I don't see much difference in TW in the last 10 or so years, and lets face it before then it kinda sucked anyway... TW still holds the most population, has the most events, a huge dedicated staff team and is apparently going to be making some big changes in the future. Meh, this post is .. Pure is doing a good job, I can bet lame posts like this make him not want to though. Maybe instead of being dramatic be productive, it'll get you and this awful game further. G'Night, -Lynx
