  1. In our minds that sounds great, but philanthropy is nothing more than hot air. Good ideas are robbed by scrupulous back-stabbing business men, hard work is shunned, and the lawyers incriminate to pay their bloated mortgages. Life is non-sense without Faith.
  2. Yeah, pretty sure. Why do you ask? Were you in the right mind when you posted your avatar? Were talking about jobs for Americans where people are largely losing their jobs. It's the same old game where a few people are rich (and employed) and the rest are suffering. Did I say I would give my job away? No - I'm simply willing to share some workload and reduce my burden. I'm sure all of us would rather work less hours, have more time to spend with friends and family, and not be enslaved to these mega corporations. I'm not talking about jobs for gas station attendants, fast food service, or general labor.
  3. A problem we have with our government today is that they don't know where the rubber meets the road. Their idea of fixing a problem is by robbing peter to pay paul. Stupid. Costly. Terminal. Unfortunately, anyone with half a brain will not make it into an office big enough to effect quantum changes. Remember how stupid the 'popular' crowd was back in school - well, they're still stupid, they just get their cut of the ox's ass, since people with an average IQ of 85 elected them. Why not cut the hours for a full time person to 6 per day relieving us of ridiculus overburden, add 6 more to another equally qualified candidate (if enough are available in this dumbass country) who could work a worthy second shift. Sure, it would mean a slightly lower pay but we would still be doing just fine, more people would have jobs, more work would get done since were not trying to tax our brain 10 hours a day in a schedule designed for someone counting recycled bottles. (blame the union for that thanks.) Will that happen - no. Too many ignorant humans lead this country. I end up working 10 hours, another man stays unemployed, a company stagnates, and life generally sucks. Someone wake up the imbeciles.

    Bases

The whole map layout should be redesigned.
  5. What's to be suspicious about? His involvement means prosperity for HS as no one else really knows how to make decent bases. Legas is a good map maker but sharpflame's mapping style is unique to hyperspace.
  6. Depends what we are talking about: 10% more yogurt in a Danon yogurt cup = a nudge 10% more fruit from a fruit tree = a nudge 10% increase in Obama's surplus spending = a nudge (only a couple billion) 10% speed increase on ship 3 = a nudge 10% less posts from Kilo = AWESOME! muahaha
  7. Bases - Sharpflame, you make the best bases for HS bar none. Other people shouldn't make them - just you. Sorry for those who disagree. Tileset - the tileset is older than dirt itself and does need a change. EG has a few good tilers - someone should look them up. Ships - start by removing the opinions of people who designed the current setts. After this happens, the zone might not suck so much. Private Freqs - Brain bred a population of panzies and they don't want this because they will lose everytime. Great EG flagging games thrive on privs. Opinions? - No, don't need yours. haha
  8. Some of the games in EG extended into days..... This idea seems good - would players win enough per game to make flag games worth their time?

Yikes! I checked my pc and no registry entries matching the viruslist data.
  10. ROFL pol, you're a screwball! hahaha nice1
  11. remember those teachers in school who demanded control and made kids stand in the hallway for walking too fast? yeah - their aliases are Brainchild, d1straught, and arnkmunger.
  12. Dropping off is older than ss. EG and most flagging zones always have that problem. Just the way it goes.
  13. Ahahaha! Brainchild, you're such a control freak. If you guys only knew how much brain doesn't give a damn about you - you'd all leave.
  14. Yeah, friend got me into the game in 1995. Ugh. Mistake?
  15. Ships have wings fully equipped and auto-controlled with ailerons and flaps to assist with the approach and departure from atmospheric planets such as ours, Hyphosus 4, Tiberia 19 and the third moon from Uranus. Once the artificial subsystems have fully automated their ability to navigate these conditions under hi stress or damaged extremities, the wings will be eliminated however the cockpits will be pushed forward of the fuselage and enlarged. The new ships suggested design is as shown in this illustration: Future Ship without Wings

Ok, so here are two sample exhaust files in PNG format built with a fading 0-100% alpha transparency along the exhaust trail and a 90% overall transparency so that the 1st sparks (image 1 and 2 ordered left to right) have some mild transparent effect. During construction I removed the background black using simple select methods - this is why the image appears pixelated. PNG8 format - 5k http://www.pitstophobbies.net/img/junk/exhaust_png8.png PNG24 format - 10k http://www.pitstophobbies.net/img/junk/exhaust_png24.png

PNG has variable alpha channel transparency. MNG is like PNG with GIF animation capability: http://www.libpng.org/pub/mng/ so basically we could create animated sprites (smoke effects, blinking lights, etc)

Ok, throwing an idea here. The basic eight ships are ... well, dull at best. They were designed in 95 for 256 color resolution to keep the total download size to a minimum. However, the ships themselves are well known. So I created some neotype versions of ships by mixing the fuselages, wings, etc. By dissecting the ships, each part becomes an interchangeable layer after it's been sprited (rotated) for use. To avoid conflicts (ie. having two fuselages, or mismatching parts) a void xref table could contain illegal pairs. When a player goes to build their ship, they basically pick their options - the void xref keeps things in check. http://www.pitstophobbies.net/img/junk/disc_ships_01.jpg Sure, this generates a ton of questions but rather than trying to work through every detail, I wanted to toss it in the mix for feedback. From an infantry point of view, soldiers can be seen carrying different gear, various heads, torsos, and guns. Some of you probably already saw my rendition of those.
  19. Big and medium zones have become cults. What newbie would want to get involved only to get harassed and beat down? The best thing for any new development is to abandon any relationship to ss/continuum altogether and get a fresh and disconnected start.

I'm on board with this - hard NOT to have serious scope creep...
  21. Cool, C+, I hope it works out for you. Hak - it said something in their news about dev time and tiles. Maybe I misread it.
  22. Chambahs and friends have spent many hours rebuilding their UT zone. They've diligently retiled it and are seeking new population. I encourage everyone to try it out. Coincidentally, I tried to enter the zone. While downloading a very large set of zone files I was disconnected. I tried a second time - disconnected again and was this time banned for a longer time. After contacting Chambahs about it, he simply brushes it off as 'too bad'. Go look at his zone - Chambahs is well on his way to building a strong population. *laf* Some people never change.

Yeah, but you guys aren't keeping the scope within reasonable proportion. I don't want to be the bearer of reality, but I think the odds are against you just on the basis of scope creep. That make sense? Do you have a plan consisting of achievable steps or is everyone just going on hope and luck?

I like the idea of 3 dimensional movement but not the 3Dish fake look of zones such as Desert Storm the Infantry game. Everything is off perspective and nothing feels right. The flips and rolls idea first brought up on this topic are excellent ideas and it would also be nice if you could move on the z-axis but you would need to represent the ship as getting smaller and bigger or changing the shadow or w/e. I also agree that engines out there that already do 3D are way ahead of you. Most of you will graduate college and be into your main job long before you can penetrate the major obstacle of getting people to buy into your 3D system...let alone a community of designers to support it. Continuum obviously needs a lot of upgrades but what it seems like here is you guys are trying to build a rocket to do the job of a simple automobile.

    Zone logo

Half the reason why no one will contribute anything more than their opinion is two fold: 1. You guys tend to favor !@#$%^&*ty looking stuff. No hard feelings but the HS shipset and that HYPERSPACE logo under the center say it all. Those two things you created D1 are just killing us. You're probably a decent programmer but an artist???? 2. Whenever someone DOES contribute something, you shoot it down (refer to reason 1 for explanation) and/or try to nerf your own version of it. I dunno - maybe I'm alone on this opinion, but I doubt it.
