  1. Well, if no one is going to take over the world... erm the ASSS project*, then I'll volunteer myself. Things to know though, while I do know how ASSS works, and have the ability to make highly basic modules, I don't know enough to actually write anything useful (such as race, or something) or modify the core. I would however, seek the aid of others, such as the SSDEV team. I don't have a lot of time though, but I support both ASSS and Devastation. Only when all 3 of our top ops agree on promoting the move, will anyone get any progress done though. We need to be a community again: one zone, one vision.
  2. Run your computer in safe mode, and tell us if you can play Continuum.

What's wrong with the banner larrythehamster had made?

Sure, I can zip them up later on.
  5. Indeed, SSCI Devastation (formerly SSCB) is unlikely to switch over to ASSS anytime soon. We were at one point developping and converting over to ASSS, but we only had one main person doing all the work, who didn't have enough time to finish it (Hallowed). - None of us can really work with it because we can't code, lack time, or others don't want to convert to it because they don't understand it (because our current bot already does a lot, and porting it to ASSS is a lot of work). So we're sticking to SubGame and Mervbot, because it's still being maintained, and it's what Devastation has always used. - But I'm not against ASSS, if we could develop it it'd be great.
  6. The first one was compiled using FastStone Image Viewer from the original .png file, the second one was re-compiled from the first one using Gypsee Pro. There's a slight difference if you hex edit the two files, but other than that, the difference is the second one is a program designed for animated .GIFs

I have a lot of screenshots, so I don't know which ones are the better ones :S Here's one in the mean time. Spoiler! --Click here to view--
  8. Here's two differently compiled .gif files, though they're both 89a. (paint sucks at converting, so I don't recommend it) Anyhow, can't you use another file format other than .gif? Is it suppose to be animated? What's wrong with png, or jpg? And are you sure you aren't doing something else wrong?
  9. wtf, too much text, too much information about something that doesn't concern any of us... This is a SubSpace forum, how are we suppose to help? Why refer us to another forum that concerns you, and not us? Are you advertising, or willfully spamming multiple forums such as this or the server help forums? Answer those questions in less than a paragraph (no, less than 2 lines), and maybe it's worth reading that entire block of ASCII tetris.
  10. Should that fix the crashing problem when quitting the program in Vista?
  11. Bah, I don't need to anymore, Bjorn himself beat me to it: http://forums.minegoboom.com/viewtopic.php?p=74696#74696
  12. http://subspacedownloads.com/index.php?act=file&fid=1320
  13. I might have it on my Win98 computer downstairs, but I'm headed to bed, so I'll check tomorrow.
  14. lol yes, a bit cynical In the event someone does revive the ASSS zone, make sure they use the latest patch found here: http://!@#$%^&*s.yi.org/!@#$%^&*s/ (to prevent hacking, only allows 0.40 client)
  15. It actually wasn't me who made the .zip file. Someone on the TW forum requested "i'm on linux and getting 0.39 to run was hard enough, i can't run the 0.40 .exe. can someone just point me to a file repository so i can just download them manually?". So another user posted that, and it worked for him supposedly. I would assume this is the quickfix for all linux users, but could also be used for Windows users. Whatever PriitK did, is nice and all, but a number of users have complained about the installer. I'm also !@#$%^&*uming that Guest:Shuttlekilla's problem was resolved by my first post*, which seems to have been ignored this whole time by everyone. It was the first upload for 0.40 (on TW), and was compiled more properly than the new one. Everyone who had a problem with the installer said that this one actually worked, rather than the newer official installer. *an !@#$%^&*umption, he didn't specify what was the fix.
  16. And if else fails, then I suggest this: You can alternatively download a previous installation of Continuum (0.39pr1), then download and add these files in the same folder.
  17. Someone previously noted that Norton = bad news. I wouldn't know about Spydoctor though, you can also try disabling it. (actually, it's written all over this stickied faq, and a simple search tells me that Norton has caused problems since Continuum's existance) But since it would look bad if both me and Mav just said that per-say, I've referenced it: (Using Continuum 0.40)
  18. I would do it, but it'd be like... Maybe I'm wrong, but why ask someone to help, only to see their work go to waste?
  19. Yes, but you're not forced to click the page "# new notices", which is only subtly found in one place. And if your complaint is e-mails, you can tell facebook to not message/notify you for things.
  20. Makes me sad I still think that we should have asked help from the SS development team.
  21. Advanced options -> Software emulation (check this)
  22. Try to enter different zones, does it still occur? Have you tried entering a non-SSC zone? Run a trace of 100 cycles (never less), and post the trace back on this forum. Make sure you don't have a firewall blocking Continuum. Also, update your zone list. Here's how:-Click the "Zones" button -Remove all zones in green (double click their names ) - Do NOT press ok. -Press the "Download" button -Re-Add all of your zones to the list. -Press ok. Oh,and the only actual valid directory servers are " sscentral.sscuservers.net ssdir.playsubspace.com " So if anything else is listed, you can remove it. More importantly though, make sure Continuum is using the same resolution as your desktop (if it is, try lowering it), and try changing your color depth 8bit/16bit/32bit in the options menu.

Sorry for bumping the topic, but I was on my windows 98 comp today and found this piture. It used to say SSCB DEVASTATION and was used for the zone banner rotation thingy, but when we almost became SSCI-A Devastation, I had edited this... It's more relevant now, since we really are SSCI. -credit to whoever made the original.
