That's the flaw though, if you want it in center, you have no choice but to have full participation. If you place it elsewhere, then you make your life easier. Or you could have unbotted KOTH, just like regular SubSpace KOTH :S

I'm going to put [citation needed] on all your comments Canada has an army, and is in Afghanistan, and has been in both WW1 and WW2. It may not be huge, but it's there, and has an impact. Japan has no army per say, but does have "Japan Self-Defense Forces"... which is basically a subs!@#$%^&*ution for an army. The US protect themselves, and may help other countries if necessary, but at this point those other countries aren't being invaded, so you technically can't say the US is protecting them. The most notable country which it protects (politically) would be Japan, especially since WW2, and in North Korean relations.

Or: Try uninstalling, and run a registry cleaner. After that, do a fresh install from here. Also, make sure you install it under a user with administrator rights.

I didn't make it up though. I never even thought of it until JDS and whoever else was there kept mentioning it. Logs for proof: (trying to get into the ball-scoring area)
-
Nah, you didn't fail, it's awesome as a Halloween map But I don't know how I'd like it as a permanent pub map.

Problems with having it in center: -Ball, flags, spawn area. Logical solution: - Have private frequencies for each player participating - Lock spec & team frequencies - Have bot randomly spawn each person somewhere inside that box, but not close to each other. - If you already have to warp those players to center, it's more logical to have the "hill" elsewhere, like that you avoid other people from spawning on you, and balls/flags - Or force every player to take part in it Another question, is this jackpot the same thing as regular jackpot? If so, then you're taking away other players' purpose of not playing KOTH and actually playing flagging games ; just to steal their credits thereafter. So it might be best to force all players to join. Another option, p!@#$%^&* a vote for how many players (if there's more than say, 2 players in-game and not in spec) want to have KOTH, and if more than 50%, start KOTH game with everyone in it. If you run it every 15 minutes, you ruin normal dogfighting in center, so it might be best to have it every minimum 30 minutes.

I'll provide my feedback in words : The map is nice and original, it adds a bit of new, and old; but definitely still feels like Deva. Pros : - The added graphics, such as the pumpkin in center is really nice. - The map is smaller and more compact : I don't feel like I need to chase JDS half way across the universe in order to dogfight and kill. It's also easier to get to a base instead of travelling 10 light-years, but it's still long enough for the defending team to prepare itself for each wave of attacks. - The fact that it's done for Halloween, and is all themed, is definitely THE most important thing that overrules everything else. It's for fun, so we should enjoy it while it lasts. Cons : - The bases don't seem very well thought-out in my opinion. Only the bottom right one seems best for actual flag games. - Might also be too fast for some, each wave of enemy attacks; it doesn't allow the defending team to escape and change base if anti is on. - The scoring thing is aweful. For Halloween it's fun to have a twist, but on the regular map, I prefer the two goals on two sides of the map, not just one. - The safes in the center lack anti-bullet tiles in front of them. It's so easy to ball kill without trying. - Map is too small, lacks elements of old Deva, but is better than Deva2007 map. It reminds me of an event map; and I'd prefer pub not to look like an event joke. - There's no doors or anything special. It ruins the whole point of a few .buyables. - Nothing screams "Deva", there's no text at the top that reads SSCI Devastation. - Rounded tiles are interesting, but ugly >.> End vote: Con overrules Pros, but as a Halloween map, fun factor overrules cons and pros. But I do like it, don't get me wrong, but I think it should be a temporary map, not a permanent one. In a future map though, perhaps a balance between this modernism and traditional is needed, as it's a drastic change overall (especially the map size)

Couldn't you get a bot to reset the ball in center or have the bot move it manually by stealing the ball and putting it in center and speccing again?
-
You know, halloween was today >.> By tonight it'll be tomorrow, and ruin the fun Oh well, a belated Halloween week can still be fun. Edit: If you wait long enough, I can provide an extra base to NR's map

Deva has no spirit, no Halloweed map jds?

What a crappy day at school, we spent the best half of the day stuck in a lock down... Stupid city, has been getting lock downs in some school somewhere everyday; just for us, it has to be on Halloween. *grumble grumble* Until I actually start eating candy; Happy Halloween!

You fail at generalizing once again. Catholic : The Roman Catholic Church, is made up of one Western or Latin (Rite) and 22 Eastern Catholic autonomous particular churches. 1. Yes, Mary is portrayed as the mother of God, for she beared Jesus in her womb. And the Holy Trinity is all 1, "The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit". So you're wrong that you HAVE to put Mary before Jesus. And the m!@#$%^&* is rarely about Mary, she's just regarded as one of the most important female figures in Christianity, and the only woman to appear in the Coran. God is above all: 2. How? By following the 10 commandments. Have you ever pulled out a Bible? - Jesus died for our sins, the sins of all humanity. He insisted to God that humanity should be allowed to grow as a people through their mistakes. Everyone is a sinner, no one can be perfect, or else it would have been meaningless for Jesus to die. It's why confession exists. And whether you go to church or to a synagogue or a mosque, it's to show your devotion to God. Going doesn't make you a better person, but helps you to try and get there. It's like school, you won't necessarily be the idealistic perfect robotic student, but they help you learn and grow through your mistakes. 3. The pope is the spiritual leader of the people, but is human. Human make mistakes, as is seen through relations with other religions. But the Dalai Lama is the spiritual leader for Buddhists (except certain sects), it's the same thing for him. - And laws in the Catholic church rarely change, the only notable and historical change was Vatican 2. 4. I do like wikipedia : [citation needed] 5. You can't be Catholic by name. Baptism, 1st Communion, and CONFIRMATION are the steps to becoming Catholic. 6. Not a Holiday, Christmas is a mass Easter is also a mass The Holiday was based around the m!@#$%^&* through celebration over centuries. 7. As is the same for all Christians. 8. So have other priests in other Christian religions. People sin, nobody, of any religion is perfect. "Love the sinner, hate the sin." 9. A Priest could marry, but couldn't perform the m!@#$%^&* anymore. Both Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches are the same on their stance on marriage. Becoming a priest is a devotion to God, it's not something you just do as a job, it's a lifestyle, a choice. If you want to get married, then become a Deacon. If you can't recognize that humanity sins, and that Jesus died for our sins, what better a Christian are you? Jesus died on the cross with a purpose and message. If all you can do is say you're a Christian, and believe that he died and resurrected, that's fine. But you're not acknowledging why he died, got burried, and rose again. If you can't acknowledge the presence of the Ten Commandments, then you're going against his teachings. You don't actually know very much about the Catholic religion. Catholicism is a religion; what people chose to do is the people's fault. You seem stuck on the idea that everything wrong a catholic does, represents the entire Church. Perhaps you had a bad experience, or hold some sort of grudge against Catholics, so be it, but seriously do a little looking up before posting. Sin is a part of living, you have to learn to deal with it. Forgiveness is also another part of catholicism, if not Christianity as a whole; if you can't forgive, then it's against your principal. Anyhow, this is entirely side tracking the original topic. If you're not going to post anything relevant, then don't, because either way I won't reply.

lol Confess, don't talk. Everything you just said about Catholics is biased. Catholics are Christians, and even among Catholics, there's a division (Eastern & Roman Catholics). Protestants are Christians as well. Just because we don't all agree on the same interpretations and functions, doesn't mean one of the Christian religions less Christian. If Christ wasn't the primary focus of catholicism, why would we follow the New Testament, or have crosses in the church with Jesus on them, or hang thousands of pictures of him everywhere? Why would we promote his teachings? Why do we promote the Holy Trinity? Why would we celebrate Easter, or Christmas? - What makes Catholicism less Christian than any other Protestant religion? And no, we don't !@#$%^&*ociate birth control with the devil (perhaps you watch too much television, but no one usually immediately thinks about the devil). But it's !@#$%^&*ociated as a sin under the ten commandments.

Directory server address list should be: sscentral.sscuservers.net, ssdir.playsubspace.com Else, you may have a firewall blocking Continuum from accessing zones or retrieving a zone list. - Can you enter any zones though?

You keep repeating the fact that you want 'this chat' to be known to the public. Which basically says that it's not yet fully open to the public, because you have issues with spammers. And no, I don't have any problem with freedom of speech or the people who use it (promoting means that you tell people it's a good thing). In fact, a lot of the original (racist) Penis people play/have played in the zone I do. It went from Laserman's deformation of words (you > yew ; do > dew), which of course came into !@#$%^&*ociation with 'jew' (yew > jew). Other players picked up on it as a joke, also adding !@#$%^&* to the list of words. I couldn't have cared less, but then it spread as constant swearing & racism & personal attacks (example 1). Penis was basically founded through SSRPG, and most of the players who were talking like that jokingly, were also part of the group. But now those people, as noted on Penis' chat, mention !@#$%^&* and jew almost every line they type, it's no longer something that's just funny, it's offensive. And as we all know, freedom of speech has always had its limits (especially in regards to Hate speech)*, and I don't think SubSpace should lower itself in promoting these things. Next thing you know, we'll have SSC zones dedicated to pornography, and promoting crimes against humanity. (yes, this is stretching it far, but still shows a point - freedom of speech, freedom of expression?) *As a Canadian citizen, I won't support the use of terms which are used in a negative, hateful or derogatory way against a particular group of people. You wouldn't talk like that in real life to kids, in your workplace, in a crowded subway train, or to the prime minister. There's no reason why you should elsewhere. Them = nearly everyone on that chat? How do you expect me to want to ban that many people, including you who support it? (that's sort of unrealistic) Spamming and racism are 2 different stories, you came to this forum about spamming, not racism (I mentioned it because you basically asked for it by promoting it - which is relevant to your spam). And I basically pointed out from the start that your chat was a private chat (I won't debate this any further), so nothing would be really done about it. C'est la vie, move on in life.

A while back someone asked to have the VIE poster edited, I managed to remove the VIE website link and re-edited the background where the text was (it's not perfect, but suffer). I didn't add any other link in its place though, because I don't have the proper font. But feel free to add it yourself if you want to use it to advertise SubSpace. From that, I made a wallpaper for the fun of it. I thought it could provide an alternative to these ones, for those who prefer darker and less obstructive backgrounds. (for vista windows users, you'll have to resave it as a .bmp extension, and add it manually through personalize > desktop background, rather than right+click and set as desktop wallpaper. - This is so Vista doesn't resave the picture as a .jpg extension and get quality loss) http://img452.imageshack.us/img452/6247/meetback2gx4.th.jpg (I incorrectly saved it as .jpg though)

I think the irony of the fact that you want to open your chat to the public, but won't, is funny: 1. Actually open it, and your zone to the public. Elsewise, it remains private chat. Change the chat, or leave it temporarily until you decide to open the zone. 2. If you're so keen on this SSC-ness, you shouldn't promote swearing and racism. A game for the community, means a game accessible to everyone. Some people take racist attacks more personally than others do. (If you bothered reading the spam, you'd know that you're inviting the type of people who like to purposely piss off others by throwing fits, or shouting racist comments, personal attacks, or spam) 3. What makes your yet-to-be-zone chat more prone to spam attacks than other zone chats? As a zone owner, you must envisage these things before they happen. - I don't disagree that the current SSC policy is much more loopy than it used to be, and that spammers don't help in the development of any zone. But I will disagree on what you chose to allow in the first place ; and as long as the chat remains private, under SSC policy, nothing can be done (if you decide to change that though, then it's easier to support your side in the future).

Just to make sure no one read wrong my original post, by public/private I was refering to ?chat=Zone1,name1 ; and not regular in-game chat. I don't see why it was removed, most likely because of the SVS related incident, but this was SSC's policy before MTN rewrote it: I guess I should probably explain my posistion on this to be clear. Netbanning for cross-zone spamming is only to be done in the most severe of situations. This rule can apply to a chat channel but there are some restrictions on that. 1) You may not network ban someone for cross-zone spamming any chat that could be made local with no problems or a chat that could easily be changed (Staff, Squad chats, etc). 2) The spamming must be extremely excissive. Using one alias to spam your chat does not qualify for a network ban. Using multiple aliases to continually avoid ?ignore while spamming your chat does qualify. Also for it to be considered extremely excessive the spam must last for a considerable duration and be quite rapid. 3) If the ban is ever disputed because of the questionable nature of this type of network ban I need to have a log of the event which if the ban was warranted should be easy to get. SVS This both backs up my original zone chat vs. private chat claim, and would explain why zones have requested netbans on certain players in the past, and have continued to do so up until now.

Invite implies that the original person of the chat invited other players to join, rather than run around asking everyone to join the chat. True you can argue there's no such feature on the SSC biller possible to manage a chat channel, but it doesn't mean you can't "invite" someone to a chat. That'd be like saying it's impossible to invite a friend (only him/her) over to your house, because anyone else can break into the house. The zone in question was not mentioned in the original post, and you posted in the SSC Network subforum. If your point was to say that the player was spamming, then there's no need for that here. If you actually want something done about the player, then post information, or else no one will know what you are refering to. You can't expect every net-op to know the name of your chat and zone, and deduce solely from a chat log which can easily be manipulated (just because you bring up the SSC policy) Public vs. Private chat changes a lot. Some squads, notably in TW, have to change their chats regularly to avoid such nonesense. Requesting a ban from staff will result in "change your chat", even if a staff member would be part of that squad. What I'm trying to insist is that, private chat spamming occurs very often, and almost nothing is done about it. I pulled out the Spyed one, because that was a zone chat, which never resulted in a netban either ; just to end up in a huge scene thereafter on ssforum. Some staff on here had an attachment to him, which is how Spyed managed to get ignored when the requests for his ban were made. As for the "third-party program", I fail to see it. Continuum allows up to 20 macros, so you can easily spam the same message about 60 times in a row, it all depends on the keyboard configuration that allows you to access them faster or slower. - If you want to disable duplicate messages (aka macros), then disable them through Continuum's options.

Yes, but private chats (i.e. ?chat=Name1,Name2,Name3) remain unmonitered and cannot be dealt with. As it has been said in the past, to avoid this, you have no choice but to rename your chat and move on with life, or confront the player in question yourself. A public chat is a chat channel that is actively promoted by a zone, and everyone is allowed to join. Spamming on any of these would be cross-zone spamming, since it's directly !@#$%^&*ociated with staff and players originating from that zone. If a ban is put into effect, it's holds an even stronger argument. [Think Spyed, who was banned, and still spammed Devastation's chat multiple times. - Despite all the evidence, and a plead by several players and staff, he was never Net-Banned. -- Days later he erased ssforum's general chat] There's no zone in question, and you fail to mention any local bans or warnings. To top that, once again, private chats cannot be monitered by zone staff. I'm also guessing this is all referring to Penis chat, a chat which was founded before the zone SSCI Penis, and technically started off as invite-only.

Whatever you said, made no sense whatsoever
