  1. Before entering a zone, press the "Trace" button, and let it run about 100 cycles. Post the results back here, it'll probably help find the problem. And what kind of internet connection do you have? Cable/DSL/Dial up? Does this happen all the time? If not, how long has it occured?

Features as in ideas for what to include in the next SubSpace II? Well, what are ideas you had in mind since you started the topic
  4. - Players grow up, become less active - More focus on homework, studies, or work - Unsupported game since 2003, pushes players towards different games (which are usually supported) as the gameplay becomes stale - Players, staff, etc. People being miserable, unable to handle other players, demands, or requests. - E-drama and all !@#$%^&*ociated with fraud, scams, fights, bickerings, incompetency, backstabbing, misunderstandings, politics, player/staff abuse, etc... - Zone owners being incompetent, lazy, or taking the easy way out (modifying settings, or changing standards) - Zone owners unwilling to give up their powers to someone more competent (by fear, or they judge the other person incompetent) - SSC unwilling to allow quite a number of new zones any slots since 2003, possibly even before (recently improved, but doesn't help since we don't have enough population anyways) - I'm sure now that CE doesn't work, some players quit. - No central website for a few years now (after subspacehq's fall, there has been no portal where players could find Continuum or SubSpace through Google. Although this improved with GetContinuum and Wikipedia) - Players unwilling to help new players, aka noobies. - So many bans that new players get caught in them - No original names; players have to choose names that are complex or full of symbols/numbers. - No guide in installer that shows players how to download new zones, and controls are complex But of all the things I could mention, I really think the one reason that affects the most, is the lack of updates and support. Sorry to bash on PriitK, but even with 0.40 I don't think this game has a chance (it took 4 years for an update that took him so little time, but so much work and convincing from others). Even the slightest update can make a big difference, whether it's about graphics, security, or game play; but you need to maintain the support or else the game won't hold much longer. And I don't think any of the alternate clients have a chance ; I'd by far rather see PriitK p!@#$%^&* the code of Continuum to someone far more competent than himself (^this is similar to the point about zone owners). Even though this is just wishful thinking.

    Ships

I understand what tcsoccerman means, and I do agree that it should be available. Whether or not you decide to make it available before playing, or in-game by pressing a specific key (or both - but preferably in-game only), it would be useful. A zone however, should be able to disable the function per arena settings or a command, so that you can force players into specific ships and settings, at any time during events. Similar to *lock, which doesn't allow you to change ships. Random ideas and suggestions : (although not expecting much or any to be implemented, since I don't know how plausible or difficult they are to implement) As for weapons, guns could be slightly different than Continuum, and you may want to consider alternate configurations : - by single bullet id, for example {guns} [bullet 1] ... [bullet 2]... (and its settings below, rather than having vague settings such as spread, or ammount of bullets -- would allow more freedom on settings such as angles allowed, and could create unique weapons) - position relative to the center of the ship (e.g. (5,5) would place the initial starting point of the bullet 5 pixels up and rightwards) - angle/direction of the bullet (e.g. '270' shoots towards the rear of the ship) : You may want to specify in {guns} whether bullets are fixed (only one direction relative to the screen/map), relative to the ship (only one direction relative to the ship's angle), or control dependant/turret style (which would ignore the direction setting, but you could specify how fast the rotation of the turret/weapon is elsewhere) - in each [bullet #] setting, you could specify which ones exist with multi off, on, or both For general {gun} settings: - bullet speed (-1 = no speed, 0 = ship speed) - bullet distance - bounce (and how many before it dies) - weight - damage (ammount, and whether approximate or not) - proximity trigger - ammount of energy required (per bullet, per time, or ammunition style?) - delay between bullets - whether default setting, greenable setting, green&buy, or buy-only setting (or all) - How much the weapon costs in buy menu if available Bombs would generally follow the same pattern as bullets. Thors as well, but if immitating Continuum, then less options will be available (e.g. only 1 thor id). Mines could be specified for : Whether they become bombs when repped or not. If not: whether the mine moves, explodes, or remains fixed when repped. Whether they explode or not when a bomb is shot at the wall nearby (and how far between the wall). Whether they're timed (bombs) or not, and whether they're affected by friction or not. - You could also specify the range of damage once triggered, and whether or not the bomb affects player movement (could allow electric-style mines or explosive mines) As for other weapons, a laser could be a choice. You could add most of the same options as bullets (including things like bounce - could reflect off certain objects). You could also include autotargeting turrets (similar to seaking missiles). Unmanned seeking missiles, and manned missiles (player controls trajectory, wereas a setting could specify how easy movement is) which would leave the player's ship vulnerable meanwhile. To expand on the gravity gun, you could have mines or even bombs with a gravitational pull. Other kinetic weapons, as Samapico mentioned, could include weapons that fire things such as weapon shutdown, or repair/aid weapons which can be used on other team ships. And elsewhere tiles/objects could be specified if they are destructible (perhaps by a specific weapon/weapon id). Which could allow for weapons that perhaps temporarily destroy tiles/objects such as wormholes or doors. Perhaps finally add the keys that SubSpace never used (to open doors).
  6. From the sounds of it, Canada's new copyright law would be strongly based on the U.S.'s Digital Media Copyright Act, except worse. It would turn about nearly all Canadians into criminals, and all it takes are small things. To compare, yes it would mean no more downloading, no more copying, no more ripping any songs, even if done for personal use. But to the more extreme, just taping a show to watch it later would cons!@#$%^&*ute a copyright infrigement, watching your DVD in another country, or using music solely for school research, and probably even just lending your music to someone else would also cons!@#$%^&*ute a violation of the new copyright law. While they claim the goal is to step up in line with other international copyright laws/treaties, the Canadian law would be far worse than anything else. Under the current laws, much of it is already illegal (such as taping your favourite program), but not enforced as much. A modernization of these same laws would be a catastrophy, as it would extend to far more activities, and would allow direct and full tracking of illegal activities (such as downloading music) in digital devices such as your computer.
  7. I like your signature Para, it stands out
  8. I don't see no certified signature on yours?
  9. It's odd, I wonder if people would play it :S
  10. I would assume the same way other games have it; you could select from a menu, or rotate your weapons using a single key (same would go for abilities). Not only that, key combinations and the mouse can help as well. (Are you guys going to give the mouse any functions other than selecting on the main interface and menu?) But it will be up to the zones to decide on their limit of weapons and abilities.
  11. @.@ Never knew there was a difference between Star Wars (zone), and Star Warzone ; because they're both themed off of Star Wars Anyhow, the following zone websites don't work after clicking all the zone links : SSCC RedStar SSCE Hyperspace - should be ( http://www.sshyperspace.net ) SSCI Dragonball Z SSCX Powerball zone
  12. Should also add: PSS Pirates! ( http://toktok.sscentral.com/pirates/stats.php ) (I really hate how I can't edit my own posts - in my post earlier should've been SSCC Halo, not SSCI)
  13. Edit: was about to post exactly that ^ ; I don't think there are any other server websites though.
  14. Halo's website doesn't work, neither does Powerball's
  15. Issue: The Continuum setup program installs the application under the standard Windows program files folder - usually C:\Program Files. To do this, it first creates the sub-folder C:\Program Files\Continuum then copies the application and documentation into it. For a normal user, the C:\Program Files folder is read-only. A user needs to have Local Administrator Rights to create sub-folders and copy files into this area. If you attempt to install the Continuum installer, and your login does not have Local Administrator Rights, the setup program will fail as soon as it attempts to create the Continuum sub-folder. The error message returned is: Resolution: You will need to get someone with Local Administrator Rights to login to your PC and do the installation for you - or get your network administrator to temporarily give you these rights on your PC so that you can do the install under your own login name. [1] Or : 1. Right click on the installer and select "run as administrator". (DONT DOUBLE CLICK) 2. SAVE IN A DIRECTORY OTHER THAN C:\PROGRAM FILES ! [2] I'm 100% sure you didn't follow any of the solutions (other than the other installer) provided in my quote.
  16. Yeah, I basically had the same idea as Freakmonger and Smong. To possibly be able to own secured chats (maybe prefix them, so not to conflict with normal chats used in SSC zones). And the other one would be to be able to create a friends list, and perhaps be notified when they're online. Other than that, not much else I can think of.
  17. Rather, did you try this:

    ?message

About the first question, if the message system allows more than one stored message, then I think there should be a way to delete sent messages. Currently as it stands, SSC allows 1 sent message, and if you send a new one to the same user, it will erase the previous one. Since Continuum doesn't allow you to send lengthy messages, it would be nice to be able to send multiple ones. However, sometimes I make a mistake and wish to resend a message, or tell the user to ignore this message, and this is possible with 1 message. If multiple ones were allowed, there should at least be an ?dellast:username command, to erase the last message that you sent to a specific user. As for the biller to send the biller send a e-mail notifications for ?messages, I don't think this should be allowed. Consider that one person could m!@#$%^&* ?message people spam and advertisement, and that would all be forwarded to everyone's e-mails (possibly multiple times).... Which is why the web portal is a much better idea, especially for people who aren't using a computer accessible to Continuum, but to the internet yes. Perhaps include a feature to send messages to other users over the web portal. Either that, or allow users the choice to have notifications sent to their e-mail, and by default set it off.
  19. For whoever thinks it's me, it's not >.>; It's a player from EG named Cab (see here)
  20. lmao, no! As if I could sing at all ><
  21. Oh, I never noticed the word 'techno' until now. When I only saw "SubSpace song", I was expecting something along the lines of this : _mYrYtuYtGMhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mYrYtuYtGM
  22. Unique... but too repe!@#$%^&*ive; I was expecting someone to start singing after the 'gogogo'.

Sad to see you go; but you'll be back, just like Gibbit was
  24. Tested and it works for me (if all I was suppose to see was a green/red/blue/yellow cube on a purple grid, and move/spin/zoom) Average fps is 375, but either 475 or 1265 when minimized. It seems to depend on how much color is on my screen, so if I zoom in or zoom out it'll change.
  25. So you waited 8 years to post this?
