  1. I'd offer a response, but I can't reproduce it, so I have no clue... sorry! 8(

  3. check to make sure all the game files/directories are NOT set to "read-only"
  4. I don't think there are any programs to let your force your res higher than what your monitor and video card combo can do. You will always be limited by the lesser of those 2 components and unable to force it higher. (besides... it will kill your monitor within a month if you go above it's max res/refresh rate)
  5. If you have had a long period of inactivity, your name may have been deleted and become available to other users. Someone else may have it.
  6. chances are a driver issue or directX. update both Q: Are you playing the game at the same res as your desktop?
  7. In the game's advanced options, try forcing 'tiles' into memory (and try some others if you want).
  8. Try a different monitor.

    low FPS

Hence the 'no framerate limit' option.
  10. sounds like hardware malfunctions
  11. Try compatibility modes.
  12. the dll thing is saying something along the lines of: ______.dll could not initialize because windows is shutting down. This is normal... any program that attempts to load after you have told the pc to shut down will do this. Here is your solution: http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?showtopic...l=visual+themes

    Lag

On your screen, everything is local and in real time. You do not see your location and weapons after you have sent them to the server and it sends it back, you simply see it as though it were a single player game.

  19. Negative packetloss happens when your packets are being received out of order, timewise. You send data to the server as a series of packets, each packet has a time stamp which tells the receiving service (either the server or the client, depending on which originally sent it) when the packet was sent. So your client sends a packet to the server, it doesn't wait for the server to receive and confirm it, it just sends the next packet as though the previous had been received as normal. So the first packet goes through the internet along a different path than the second packet. assume that the first packet is taking a longer route to the server than the second. The client has not yet received confirmation of the server recieving the first packet, so it decides to send it again. This second packet goes along the path of the second of the original 2 packets. Eventually the server receives all 3 packets. In the client's eyes, it sent 3 packets when only 2 were needed in the server's eyes, so technically it's not LOSING packets, its actually gaining them along the way. In this example, you would experience -50% packetloss. But chances are that your packets are being received out of order, so the server can't really use them as efficiently or possibly as accurately and you may experience lag if the difference is large.

  21. At the game's main menu, hit: control A to access the Advance Options. Make sure you have ONLY 'no framerate limit' and 'avoid page flipping' checked ON. If you are currently using this configuration, then try turning those option off, one at a time. If that fails: update your video card drivers from the manufacturer's web site update directX from www.microsoft.com
  22. Unknown bugs are few and far between, nowadays. If it truly turns out to be a bug, then it will get moved to the proper place, and the proper people will be notified. But for now, you will get a larger, more qualified and active audience here, in tech support. That being said, lets start with the basics: latest drivers and directX unistall/re-install continuum (possibly choosing a different directory name) also check access priviledges/permission for the game directory and .dat files in the root of the game dir.

  24. When you right click the shortcut to an application, and choose 'properties' then 'compatibility,' you have an option to "disable visual themes.'
  25. Right click the game's directory (C:\Program Files\Continuum) and click 'properties'. Click the checkbox next to 'read-only' a couple times until it goes on/off at least once. Leave it UN-CHECKED.
