SSB (or Subspace Base) link needs to be removed, it appears to be a dud. EDIT :: My bad. For some strange reason yesterday, it took me to this weird advertising website or something.

Whoa. I just found out a cool feature (maybe it wasn't intended to be implemented!). While flying around, press and hold Q or W. You can draw. Keep this feature pretty please!!!! I found another interesting bug. Fly all the way to T1 corner (I was using shift to speed up). TEH MATRIX IS ALIVE!!1

Good idea, and if they get caught cheating in another zone they get netbanned for life. How's that sound?

Subspace = Continuum; get rid of either or do something about it. I think Continuum should go and Subspace should stay. Subspace looks better anyway. Discretion's !@#$%^&*le is yellow? That breaks the scheme of the design and makes the whole upper right corner look terribly ugly. :S Maybe Discretion should just be in the Navbar? There's way too much empty space in the center header. Try finding part of the Subspace intro of the warbird flying in at the user in an angle (pointing a bit northwest of the camera, not directly at the user) and place the warbird in the center. Then using the wind (or combinations) effect, make it appear as if the warbird was "swooping" or flying in through the header (of course this should not have any animations unless you're taking it hardcore ). Horizontal bar. What are you going to place on the left and right portions? Nothing (or nothing useful)? Pull them back to the left and right sides of the design, but don't pull them back far enough where it would look like half of a circle. Out of all the above, trying toggling a general pattern for the content background area (the same color as the background + some darkness; or try black and adjust opacity and fill). Besides that, it looks fine. Great job PoLiX. EDIT :: http://alistapart.com/articles/whitespace - An interesting article to read, may help you with your design. Be sure that you set ImageReady to export in XHTML, DIVs, etc. No tables! Make sure your Dreamweaver (if you use it) is also configured to use and validate in XHTML. Use atleast XHTML Transitional, if not, use XHTML Strict. Also see http://www.pixel2life.net for any tutorials; if you need live help with XHTML try the #html channel in Gamesurge IRC. If you need a hand, I've got two free ones.

Do me a favor and just redirect them to http://www.hlrse.net/plans.

Fly around in a ship a bit, then press ESC. [ Run-time error '35761' ] I should point out, when you View eLVL Attributes of map under Regions tab, the "pythonCode" box (when you want to edit it from here) only will display one ROW of code, plus its a freaking tiny box. Hehe. Might I also add that maybe you should "redesign" the regions editting where you have two forms of editting: Normal Mode & Region Mode. Kind of like tabs you can switch between. When you swtich to Region Mode, it will layout the tools and options for Region editting (plus it will replace/use line tool and stuff for its own purpose). For example, you change over to Region mode. Everything is basically the same except that Tile Text and maybe the Dropper are removed from the sidebar. The line and other tools (airbrush, shapes, etc) will function with the region you have SELECTED in the top bar. Kind of hard to work around with only a clone of the selection tool, eh?

P (PoLiX)>only doing SSC zones P (PoLiX)>They change enough as is, not going to keep it with non-ssc P (PoLiX)>I add 1 non-ssc, and I have to add any of them that ask It wouldn't matter anyway, because you wouldn't do it either way. And that is exactly the reason why I have unstable grounds when speaking or simply with you. Despite my rudeness, I think my point does serve its purpose. I've waited from 6 months to almost an entire year (of just concentrating on) to get my zone in the list. For a few months even, there was absolutely no word about my submission/request, which is why I revived it. It shouldn't take that long for a person to do it. I'm not against what you are doing, that is the whole Subspace community project and stuff. I'm not against any of that and I'm completely supporting you. Again, the thing that sparks so much negativeness from me is that you are being bias and SSC-only, as you want to "unite the community." Please, either say unite the community and stick to the words or say along the lines of "unite the SSC network/community." This is specifically my reason for such bold and rude (I guess) upbringing toward you. It just angers me to see this happen within the community in such a stronghold, and probably the only one there is. That's the only reason you really gave me. Until now, you point out a slightly different reason. Thanks, I believe I've butchered my reputation in this community aswell as for Jackpot SVS. gg to everyone, atleast seeing that PoLiX publically replies to my arguement calms me down very much.

Does this only apply to auto updates? I mean if you don't use any of Microsoft's online services, it might not hurt to turn this off. :X I tried "uninstalling" QoS for my ethernet, and instead it made my latency in games worse. However this looks kind of different, so I'll give it a try and experiment switching around 0% and 50%, even though this is a myth. I have the time to experiment and observe for myself. Thanks.

Ok. I'll try that next time. ;o

Zone development is a small world. I still don't have anybody connected to my public biller, although 1 person did use it for a month or two. Perhaps zone development is going extinct, as compared to a few years ago it was still at large. Maybe it's because of the combination of the lack of Continuum updates and the typical reasons why people are leaving Subspace (or leaving so quickly once they try it out). I find Trench Wars a bad place to bring someone new to. Everyone has almost an equal chance with that one shot one kill; we're all good players! Eventually (and pretty quickly) you get bored of shooting people with those one-shot-one-kill bullets, there's no challenge. I would highly recommend you do not even introduce a new player to Trench Wars events either, because that ended it quicker. New players need place with challenge to play (SVS will always have that challenge). Introduce a player to super-styled zones, and it is possible and maybe more likely he won't go to SVS from there on. I used to hate SVS for about % of my 6 or 7 years of Subspace, but I forced that to change. I really do love it now.
-
I do agree with SVS for the most part; do you people even read what he says and compare them to other people? Just because he himself may be lacking something, that doesn't seperate some of his words from being the truth. I do support Polix in his push toward creating a huge CMS-like portal for the Subspace community, but I disagree for the fact that he has pretty much outright rejection of non-SSC zones. He denies room for other zones and is very self-centered. From the Thread, "Why is Continuum Population rate going down?, Give your oppinion on the topic."
-
If you cheat, expect a "long ban." A 12-month ban isn't too long anyway, just go play something else or go back to real life until your ban is over. Time flies by quickly.
-
Yup. It mainly depends on where you live (because of higher economy in different places) and what kind of job you have. In Portland, Oregon, we paid 4x more of monthly rent for a decent looking house that had the same or similar quality in Springfield, Missouri. Definately an economical difference. In highly populated parts of California, that $5000 shouldn't be too much at all. You're making hundreds of thousands or so in those kinds of places. Tell me differently if you think I'm wrong please. ;o
-
Hahaha, how especially true. SVS is definately the way Subspace was meant to be played.
-
Eh, 3D? Too bad it won't ever happen now?
-
I think once this is all done it should be centralized on subspace.net like it once was. I remember this game for CybeRise' lead on subspace.net and I've always viewed subspace.net as the "official" website. Pretty. Hehe.

Heh. It would be a good idea to dust out your PC atleast once every month to keep it efficient, clean, and allow its lifespan to be maximized (atleast by this degree). Usually the only place I have dust problems in my PC (since I have about 14 or more fans) is in my Power Supply. However that problem is apparently solved for me now ever since I got a nice and new power supply. I hate the dust. Many times in my past dust faked Power Supply death. It's scary. You start thinking your hardware is dying and you'll have to spend more money (in my case, $30 is already expensive...man, even $20). After some dusting with the ol' air compressor, everything seemed to work fine again. *whew* PoLiX, try the ePOX 8RDA3+ Pro motherboard if you're sticking with SocketA and AGP. Great motherboard. I bought 2 of these babies and use 1 of them. I won't EVER regret buying this motherboard. I haven't ever had a problem with it. According to my cousin who was using a 2GHz CPU (AMD?) and 1.5GB of RAM (PC3200+, and amazingly fast), the standard X700 that I used to own did an excellent job on COD2 on 800x600 with maximum settings. Playable FPS he says. I bought my X700 for $120. I would strongly recommend you go for one of the cards of X1600 (or above, I can't remember the model now ), as it only costs about $130.

Thanks for sharing the link fifty. Although it's missing a zoom feature, I still find it very much appreciating to atleast know about a visual skin editor. EDIT :: I'm only !@#$%^&*uming it's missing that feature. ;o I have to go to school very shortly, so I don't have enough time to find out right now. EDIT2 :: Ok, it's missing a zoom feature.
-
How do you animate parts of the skin and change them when you change your ship? ( See http://www.jackpotsvs.com/files/VIEd_v01.rar to see what I mean. ) I wouldn't mind taking the time to clone this one and update those ship animations with the ones with more frames.
-
Kind of why I shown that to you. Do you suppose I could be of some minimal graphical use? Perhaps I can design the client root menu using this style. Apparently the font I have that I used for those buttons seem to be exactly (or just a pixel or so off) the same as the one VIE used. I admire even my own work. Try backing the files up onto a webserver (or something where you would take off the read-only) and reinstall Windows? :S
-
I'm too lazy to report some nasty bugs I found. Try abusing the scroll wheel zooming a bit and you might get an error.
-
You lost some of your files? Do remember my offer of free webhosting in support for Thirdspace still stands. I may even be able get some free gameserver hosting for Thirdspace (for one zone/server).
-
Personally I say that MillenniumMan should keep this closed source and work it until it's done. Keep it strictly professional, formal, simple, and compact. Professionalism ftw. Of course, making it open source at the end wouldn't be bothering. Does any of my Photoshop work take interest to you? http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/mytemplates/jsvs-wip5.gif

6. Accept non-SSC zone requests to be placed into the Subspace Navigation bar at the very top in the zone list. Perhaps even actually check out some of these zones and see if it's a serious or joke request (if someone is actually trying, give them a freaking chance). 7. SSC should be more open instead of eliminating "sucky," "unpopular," "lame," "empty," "nooby," "looks like a noob made it," zones. Instead of restricting everything down to where only zones that meet the standards (the opposite of the "phrases"), SSC should open up room for these kinds of zones to CENTRALIZE and UNITE. There is no security risk. If someone actually wanted to screw with SSC, they could have already popped a few SSC zones offline for a while. Netbans should remain, zone operator access given to the zones as normal. Etc. 8. Overall, stop closing up room for people, beginners, and noobs who try to make their own world in their own zone. Give them a freaking chance and let them have their pride. They'll realize sooner or later whether to give up and pack bags or continue, and this will be on their own. There's no reason to "discriminate" non-SSC zones. How can you call it an attempt to unite the community when a chance for these zones are taken away and pissed upon? I've requested numerous times for Jackpot SVS to be added to the list and was rejected by PoLiX for perfectly the reason that it isn't an SSC zone. Screw you PoLiX.

Is there any way we can get the scores back for SSC? :S
