  1. Eh. My cousins got a free copy of Windows XP at a Microsoft XP. Nowadays it is considered as an ingenuine key. I've never used a Windows XP CD that actually required activation (lol, why would anybody need to do that?). Heh. :S I hope you can get your problem resolved. Grammar nazi time: Incorrect: liscence Correct: license Correct: licence EDIT :: Checked out your other thread. http://www.hlrse.net/offlinewebpages/ Scroll down to the very bottom and open the two links about disabling genuine validator. Does this help?
  2. That's wrong. Jesus' death on the cross was the event that ended the animal sacrifices. lol, noobed.
  3. I do not believe that you cannot be professional regardless of being unpaid. The Half-life: Sven Co-op team does everything unpaid, yet they are more professional (and overally better) than most Half-life/2 mods because they do not release crap betas and other stuff with crap impressions. One of the first things anybody gets from opening the game up and playing it is that it was made by a bunch of professionals who have no real jobs. I am unpaid, yet I work in quality. I want someone to think that the work I released looks "professional," or atleast a piece of quality that someone spent their time carefully on. PriitK was unpaid, yet he did his work in quality (Continuum). The Sven Co-op team is and was unpaid, yet they work Sven Co-op professionally and in quality. Quality and professionality. I hold it in high value. Being paid only boosts motivation, which is the only difference I have ever seen when someone has came to me and paid me for my work. I do not believe that being "paid" will change very much, except the motivation. And I can only assume that if one does not pay a person who does not release quality/professional-looking work high enough, they will continue to be that way. PriitK is a professional, and you do not have to be licensed to be a professional. If you can program good, that is a thumbs up. If you can organize well and bring out a quality piece of work that consumers will think "it was constructed by a professional(s)," that is a thumbs up. I want to see all thumbs up, even if there is a lack of features and such.
  4. Also to mention, !@#$%^&*ociate DCME with my http://www.jackpotsvs.com/files/ServerKit-full.exe so that you could configure it from in-the-editor (this might make it easier for newbies). A full blown, built-in server controlling GUI for the ServerKit-full.exe pack. Hehe.
  5. Zoner's Subspace Editor (ZSE), -Map Editting -Tile Editting -Settings Editting -Help & News File Editting and Formatting -Graphics Editor (ie. built in ships.bm2 rotations scripts, ships.bm2 constructer, animation editor, etc) -Sound Editor (ie. basic sound recorder) -Live & Dynamic Testing Environment -eLVL Support -!@#$%^&*S Support -LVZ Support -And much more! I like ZSE better Aha! DCME needs a generator module that can generate a random balanced or unbalanced settings, generate a random map (perhaps even random mazes of all kinds), etc.
  6. Subspace used to be the client. Subspace is the game. Continuum should be Subspace, because it is and we can.
  7. *shrugs* I don't know about you, but still doing my work volunteerly, I want to take pride in my work and show as best and clean 'product' I can. Heh. Was PriitK paid for Continuum?
  8. Are you using your onboard graphics accelerator?
  9. If you have this much time, go play some SVS with some squadies and write an epic story of one of your most memoriable battles in a public arena.
  10. hehe, it had to be the Server Forums. That's the only place I recall ever publishing a link. :] When I would click on the download button, it would stall there forever just "loading" the "next page" (trying to initiate the download). :S Feel free.
  11. The more you post per day, the greater the chances of you being attacked.
  12. @To those who disagree Has it ever occurred to you that PriitK just possibly might be thinking along the same lines? I definately would be. I do with almost 100% of my work! Seeing such maturity, professionality, organization, and formality from PriitK and his fellow development aides on how Continuum was designed and structured, I think this does hint just what kind of people they are and how they like their work to look like and be. PriitK is a Skype Developer for goodness sakes! I have used Skype before (nothing new) and it looked very much along these lines about "maturity," "professionality," "organization," etc - EVEN THOUGH there are other people (perhaps with more control) working with him. That does not change too much. Think about it. PriitK continued it this way. Why? His "heart" shows through the work of Continuum in all angles. @!@#$%^&*S Would you even bother? Why? EDIT :: I have to add - VIE was like that and so is PriitK. Why make the game or client look dirty? I consider the server related material just the same. There's no reason for the dirtiness. PriitK continued and he didn't make it dirty. I want to open up something that looks clean, attractive yet simple, and makes a good impression to me.
  13. Please.
  14. @hardcorer_yerded Just a concern about... http://www.kevlambert.com/stuff/index.php?...tails&lid=8 First thing I noticed is that it is suspiciously !@#$%^&*led exactly the same as my "ServerKit-Full.exe" at http://www.jackpotsvs.com/files/ServerKit-Full.exe. If it is this file, that is fine with me. Atleast fix the author with my name. Second thing I noticed is that the download thing does not work (either that or it is on a crap server). Third thing: if it indeed is the ServerKit-Full (because I have never seen a file !@#$%^&*led this until I released it with this !@#$%^&*le) that I put together, I must correct your description. ASSS is not included with this package. This is an all-in-one server kit that comes with the latest version of Subgame (VIE), Subbill (VIE), Subbill2 (Catid), MERVBot (Catid), Directory (Catid). All preconfigured and ready to go on the spot. Another concern: do you need webhosting with the same quality as you might recieve from a fee-based webhost? I could offer you the Beginner or Common plan from hlrse.net for free; I could give it to you as a subdomain.hlrse.net or as a yourdomain.com (I cannot finance you the "yourdomain.com" domain name itself though - I've already spent too much this year). Transfer speeds on the webserver are from 500 KB/sec to over 1 MB/sec depending on your connection (in other words, good download rates!). If you accept my offer, drop me a private message. I do not require anything of you (aka advertisements on your website, etc - this is completely free and for you to control).
  15. Well yeah. That's my point - can you get it to actually keep the tiles in the map? I know that _castle.lvl is indeed a map with tiles printed on the grid. I have been able to open maps as far as Sniper even (I think), but _castle.lvl is the only one that I have had some speculation on. It's tileset is there, but there is something different about this *.lvl (perhaps the format?) that crashs SSME and keeps DCME from knowing its tile placements. EDIT :: Whoops. Image didn't load fast enough and I had not tried it in the LVZ-Beta version of DCME. Wow. First time I have seen this map.
  16. I do not like the interface. It's confusing and messy. It takes too much time to just add one image (nobody should even deserve to go through such time constraint!), and I still cannot figure it out. It is kind of annoying having to continously switch back and forth between tabs (that is not pleasant to my eyes), and with the tree things also minimized. By the way, click on the LVZ icon on the left sidebar, play with it, then close the popup. The LVZ icon will appear to be still selected. DCME easily crashes through MapObjects.
  17. Hi Drake and Sampiaco! I dare you try figure out how to get DCME to successfully open this: http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/_castle.rar
  18. I beat some people up. Just waiting for someone to kill me so that I can revive myself.
  19. I have been told by many of the VIE vets that "back in the day" (atleast of Jackpot Zone) VIE had some special scripts, exactly as the ones I described above. I spent a few days researching "VIE Scripts" and asking a bunch of people around.
  20. My problem with this issue is that if the source is givin into the wrong hands, for instance someone who has as poor organization and professionality as ASSS does, I'd probably end up leaving. Personally, I don't want to see crap organization and unprofessionality in Subspace or Continuum - VIE wasn't like that. Atleast they were better at it than whoever decided to organize ASSS the way it is now. When it comes to flexibility and how far you can take features of all kinds (ie. modular support)... (!@#$%^&*S ~ Linux) > (Subgame ~ Windows) Overally it's quite frankly the opposite. (!@#$%^&*S ~ Linux) < (Subgame ~ Windows) Any newby would choose Windows over *nix or *nux. That kind of operating system is for advanced users; the problem with absolute suckups who want to have all Windows machines converted to *nix or *nux is that they are forgetting that *nix/*nux doesn't speak at the "customer's level," which is why Microsoft is so successful for a nice part of the business. Seriously, too many folders, too many files (and confusing ones too!), and too much complication to its degree. I think a newby could more easily learn to use Subgame quicker than ASSS. I don't mean to start any arguement. If an arguement should occur, a moderator should split the arguement replies into one thread for argueing this subspace on ASSS/Linux vs Subgame/Subspace/Windows. Anyway... :\ If I were in PriitK's place, I'd probably be extremely cautious with who would have the source code. Just like my maps for Half-life: Sven Co-op, I just don't feel the trust in the public if I were to release my work as open source. I just feel the fears of what might happen to it (like something going 'terribly' wrong).
  21. PriitK ought to rename Continuum to Subspace. -_-
  22. The one that keeps popping in my mind is where the wormhole's warp feature would be completely turned off and you can shoot clearly through the wormhole. Bombs and players would eventually end up confined in the center of the wormhole, thus stuck and would have a few options:1) Be killed by enemy bombs, bullets, etc - by people flying around the wormhole 2) Insert (Warp) 3) Attach to a teammate 4) Change ship Other than that, if you can't attach to a teammate, warp, or change ship (including spectator mode), you would be confined to your death pit. It'd be nice if I could somehow integrate some of the old VIE scripts into my zone. Though the zone would have to require the Discretion client to prevent confusion and "cheating." Right now I have a headache, a dozy brain, and somehow I feel really strange although I slept about 9 hours; at the moment I can't think of any other ... oh. There was another one where only Sysops could use Ship 8. Back then Ship 8 was reserved for the gods of the zone, and was known as a super ship compared to the ships 1 through 7. There might be more scripts than this, but I'm unable to remember because of my head problem.
  23. Sampiaco, you might aswell turn DCME into an actual client with a built-in-everything. O_o
  24. A fully featured Continuum-clone client built into DCME just for the kicks and programming experience. (This information is unofficial and has yet not or ever been decided upon by Drake or Samapico.)
