  1. Rootbear, you are soo over-reacting. Take a short break. There is always the ?ignore command, you know. If you have not played Real LifeĀ™ enough yet, you should know by now the best approach to a situation like this that you are not pleased with is simply to ignore and/or move away from the discussion or region of discussion. You have posted this thread in the wrong forum, my friend. This belongs in The Junk Pile forum. By the way, tell me a bit about religion please, and take an anger management class while you are at it. Either way, Confess+' first two points are clearly valid. This thread is an example of your behavior. Why would SSC want a NetOP who acts like this? Have you forgotten the impression and example you are making right now? *shrugs* (I shrug a lot.)
  2. Well its obviously a crude, linear shape of the Spider. I just still wonder if that was just coincidence or they got the idea from the modern Spider. Oh well, just something I was curious about.
  3. Read this first: http://science.slashdot.org/science/07/03/28/1722205.shtml Then see this link that is in that article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpaceShipTwo http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Vss.JPG See the VIE logo? Ok, Virgin Interactive. See the "award" or "plate" the guy on the right side of the photo is holding with his hands? Doesn't that white figure suspiciously look like a Spider (3) to you? It appears they pulled the plane out from that casing and it was fitted into that Spider-shaped part of the case. Heh. Virgin must really like the space-theme. Too bad they gave Subspace up.
  4. Office 2007 Beta2 allows you to save as PDF. So if you can get a copy of that, that would work. If you do get a copy of Office 2007 Beta2, be sure to roll back your system clock a year to prevent it from complaining about it expiring. Just a few months ago on Slashdot it was reported that Microsoft was taking out the support to save do!@#$%^&*ents in the PDF format due to lawsuits from Adobe to Microsoft over Microsoft using the PDF format, even though it was an open format.
  5. Now just out of curiousity, when my mom tries to access my shared "Network" (!@#$%^&*le of folder and shared folder) folder, she gets a popup asking for a Username and password with a Remember password checkbox. How is it possible to make user logins on my PC for this? I know I can easilly stop that from popping up by setting Sygate Personal Firewall to "Allow All" for the moment being. Seems that on "Normal" it will bring this popup up when someone tries to access one of my network folders, but does not when I have it to "Allow All." Bleh.
  6. To seek God.
  7. The brand-hunt is over. An anonymous user at the Subspace Server Help Forums has found the brand of the stick of RAM while looking for some DDR2 RAM on eBay. Add-On Computers is the brand. The award has been given to the anonymous user, and thank you. This thread may now be closed (locked).
  8. Back off rootbear. I can't think but to say that it's quite immature on your part and makes you look childish. Sorry, my half a penny. :X
  9. True, but to another degree you could use your mouse to rotate the third person camera around the ship and use the mouse buttons to shoot your guns and bombs (and possibly mines if you have enough buttons ). Even pointing the camera could smoothly rotate your ship around to adjust itself to be perfectly aligned with the camera while moving about. But eh, 3D is a whole new world.
  10. I've seen a few in-between to big games use this before. Not sure if it is the most efficient, but if you could find something better or possibly even develop your own kind of archive to offer more efficiency, speed, archiving, and organization, then go for it. Ah shoot. That reminds me Bak, I forgot to add something to my big quote. When you connect to a zone, the client should have an option (that can be toggled, just for the sake of the user having a choice - might be better for some people to have it off if they have low memory) to preload all graphics before actually connecting or entering the zone. In Continuum, if you have too large of a graphic for your video card or machine to handle, Continuum will seem to "freeze" for a few moments at the loading screen, then finally you would see yourself disconnected from the zone for "lagging" or spiking with such intensity. See what I mean? Discretion should prevent this. :\ Would be nice to use some huge graphics.
  11. I'm not sure. I don't think VIE ever shared their scripts, and possibly eventually disabled this feature from Subgame or something. Who knows. But it is known that VIE called them "scripts," and they were something they could program.
  12. Download this and read along. http://www.hlrse.net/Discretion.rar Bak, I think eventually you'll have to add support for Discretions own encryption and online protocol some day to accomplish a game-rebirth (I'm not talking population/player-wise). Heh, perhaps even another day you might take ASSS and redo some parts of it to make it have this kind of organization/cleanliness (or as Subgame does or whatever).
  13. That hardly works. Continuum is strange and that doesn't work for me, no matter what tiles I use, it always swings a player around a center. Guaranteed. Your example maps somehow manages to act differently. And by the way, that's not an efficient and very professional method, because the player jitters uncontrollably in the center of the wormhole anyway and the top left tile fails to function with the rest of the wormhole region. I already explained this to you a while ago. It does not fully work as you think it does. I don't know why it does this. I experimented with this pretty heavily at all angles using my "ServerKit-Full.exe" with no modified files, and I used Jackpot SVS to experiment and found exactly the same results. Please recreate the VIE scripts.
  14. MPlayer should be able to play DVD movies (drag and drop the right files from the DVD, eh?). I've played some movies off of MPlayer by dragging one of the files from whatever folder on the disc to my MPlayer shortcut.
  15. Do you plan to clean up some of your files, Bak, and pump them into like one DLL file or something to make it look at cleanly organized and structured like Continuum or better (closer to Subspace/VIE) once you have made all the modules? Your client would win me over if you did that... Bleh. Even a prettier title would. But until then, not much to say. Modules, modules, modules!
  16. It looks good, but you really need to change the font underneath "Forum Central," because the first impression that caught me was a Chinese/Japanese theme. *shudders*
  17. Magic DVD Ripper can do VCD, SVCD, AVI, WMV, iPod, and PSP ripping. DivX and a bunch of other codecs are some other available options in this neat little program that you can use to rip your DVDs at. I think region-free ripping is also supported or something. Aye.
  18. I use a registered copy of Magic DVD Ripper, works very well! If you have a SATA harddrive, the better. EDIT :: Bleh, it has a 30-day trial or something.
  19. Ah so you want to run a zone of your own, eh? Download this and install it. http://www.jackpotsvs.com/files/ServerKit-Full.exe * Once you have installed it, the first thing you should do is add your playername into sysop.txt. * Second thing to do is that if you want to make sure zone publically display in the zone listing, open up your server.ini file and go to the very bottom of the file. Under [Directory], find IP=127.0.0.1,localhost. Change IP=127.0.0.1,localhost to IP=127.0.0.1,localhost,sscentral.sscuservers.net. Save the file and close it. * You will probably want to add your zone to your own Continuum list. To do this, launch Continuum and click the Zones button. Click on Add Custom and use the following information... Zone Name: Development Zone IP: 127.0.0.1 Port: 27015 Add it to your list and return to your Continuum menu or close Continuum. * First launch ssbilling2.exe, then launch subgame2.exe. * Wait a few moments and check to see if Development Zone will turn green in your zone list in Continuum.
  20. Subspace v1.34. http://www.subspacedownloads.com/index.php...file&fid=10 A little search on SSDL might help a bit, next time. http://www.subspacedownloads.com/index.php...p;x=65&y=25
  21. This thread should be pinned. I think all staff members (atleast sysops) from all zones, regardless of being SVS or not, should be required to atleast read the essay once every quarter of a year or so. I find it to be very good brain food for zone development and maintenaince.
  22. It hasn't crashed since a few months ago when I made it crash. If nobody knows how to crash it and people don't get the idea to try to crash it, everything will operate as it is supposed to. I am very much open to private submissions at the moment, while I will remain to have public submissions through the registration form closed. I am wanting to take advantage of the GroupID feature. It is an excellent way to channel BanG access of a server owner to all the zones he is hosting that is connected to the biller. Server owners, if they want, can get L1 BanG access to all the zones they host connected to the Public Biller. If a server owner wants to, for example, channel all the zones he hosts to the biller, all the zones will be using the same GroupID and a unique GroupID different from the primary, free-lance "0." 0 = For zones that are on their own and want to free-lance in the non-SSC world their own way. BanG access can be given up to L2. 1+ = Could be used for a network of zones. The host of the network of zones could have L1 BanG access over it all without interfering with zones they do not host or sponsor. Unlike SSC, there are no global scoreresets. If you would like me to do this, I can have a global scorereset every 2 weeks. I might be able to even do network (GroupID-based) scoreresets. Heh.
  23. Not to mention that you booted Jackpot SVS off for not being able to achieve a "population" because it was using up system resources and your money. Anyway Death+ picked the zone up and hosts it now. :S Kind of irrelevant (I do not know), but I do not want SSC access because of the "prejudice" kind of feeling against non-SSC and such. Certainly there are non-SSC zones that you have to be careful about from password theft, but I am very sure that trust can be established with some non-SSC zones that have earned it. I have heard that if I were to go SSC, I would infact lose power than gain and there would be the chance that my zone could be taken over through the "SSC empire laws." Heh... Maybe I don't know what I am talking about, but having my zone permanently connected to my Public Biller atleast gives it some use and support. I have a Public Biller to support, and Jackpot SVS is currently the best zone I could get as a "center" for the Public Biller. Kind of unfortunate that I was forced to halt programming on the biller because my coder's laptop broke and he ran out of money. Ouch. I definately agree, there needs to be more player-hosted zones and more player interaction. But if you have too many players hosting too many zones (this is fine though), who will be left to play each other's zones? Meh, I certainly liked the old days better where more players took advantage of running their own zone and trying to build their own dream zone. I remember when I had some zone !@#$%^&*led "Night Hawk" or something; it got some daily player count of ~8 or something. Those were the days.. Would be nice to see it happen again.
  24. Technically it IS illegal for Valve to do this. This is like a contract: when you purchase a game or the license to owning the game, it MUST be no less than what the license or game is. I purchased Counter Strike without advertisements, and that is "part of the license" or "en!@#$%^&*lement to the game." I do not want advertisements, and that is not what I bought. I do not play Counter Strike though. Signed.
  25. That is so true. I have offered to pay monthly fees for zone hosting, and the reply I recieved was a joke. I know what I am doing because I've had over 6 years of play with Subspace and atleast 2 to 3 years of Subspace server administration. Anybody is free to conduct business. I run Bluetoast Webhosting at HLRSE.Net and nobody has stopped me. I do as I please because it's my freedom and within my Cons!@#$%^&*utional rights as an American citizen. Just because something lawful today tries to restrict the freedom to conduct business however someone wants to does not mean it is lawful. I offer money because I feel it is the right thing do to. The idea of 100% free was yesterday and a childish idea. The older and more mature I grew the sooner I realized and moved into the business world. In a community like this, there is no reason to reject an offer (atleast if the person knows what he is doing). Anyway.. :\ I just feel a little disturbed how much of this community does reject the idea of money when it comes to things like zone hosting.
