The pros and cons of vista, all the !@#$%^&*ing, all the complaints, is nothing different then the move to XP. People wouldn't let go of 98 or 2000 for XP for a long time. Now they're whining XP is better than Vista... was funny when a few admins at an old forum I visit pulled out a lot of people's whining how 2000 was greater then XP and how much XP sucked, and now how they praise XP and say Vista sucks. Kind of funny to see a lot of the same complaints they had about Vista they had about XP, etc. I'll admit I hated XP for a long time too, but meh, grew on me. Vista will probably do the same.

That's why the bible also says masturbation is wrong... or so I thought. --------- But back to the subject of the racism !@#$%^&*... man, seriously, those ASSS would have a heart attack if they went out into the real world for a day. I don't know a single person who doesn't jokingly say something racist, sexist, homophobic, etc. atleast once a day. Sorry that a lot of them (read about this somewhere before) don't have a real job outside of the NAACP so they must always find court cases to cash in on to keep their organization (and wallets) lined and going.

Lookin good... And to answer LC's ?message. It has been thought of before long ago and tried. It did work, but had a lot of conflicts to come around. I again brought it up a few years ago, but noone ever tried, or showed enough interest in it. Plus it is actually rather easy to get SSC now, so what is the point anymore. There is enough SSC hosts out there willing to host zones, and there is very little requirement compared to the past to get SSC.

Man, increased to 150k? 150K won't barely get you a rundown small house or mobile around here. My parents got a bargain for a 3bd 2 bath house for 240k. And the bedrooms aren't really all that big, but big enough. Mostly the vaulted ceilings make it not feel like a small house. That and the open kitchen and living room floorplan. Avg nice house I've seen runs around 320k. Hop across the water to Seattle and they jump to around 500k. But yeah, my mom is from texas, and said 150K could get you a mansion like house... But the pay is less down there anyways. Our min wage here is like 8.17 now?

Sorry to post after you closed this Dav... I would submit another ticket, just out of the pure fact we had issues with name retrieval due to the temporary biller server. Now we're back on the old one, so things should be smooth again. So this would honestly be my suggestion. Maybe not the answer they want given, but my suggestion.

Than the answer is it is an automated system now. That much is pretty clear. With the little time Priit or GS have to spend in this game, and I know Mike would answer this if he did it, it has to all be automated, this much we can determine. Names and Squads use to have to be reset manually, yes. They use to do it like once every so often, then once a year, then it all seemed to just become automated. Except for the squad reset quite a few years back. But that even now seems more automated, as I rarely run into people e-mailing me or pming me about *UNKNOWN* squads anymore like they use to (Own sscentral.com... supposively you own SSC. That and I guess PoLiX and PriitK look a lot alike? I dunno). That or they got smarter... could be one of the 2, and I'm leaning more towards the 1st. Most of the control over this knowledge is no doubt to control name hording/trading. As sad as this art is, it'll never die, so most likely precautions have been taken to control it until such time that either a new name system is ever developed (doubtful) or this game dies anyways.

In AWStats a lot of the hits are from gaming websites, probably 50% to be exact. Another 30% from SS websites and bookmarks. The rest from random sites, hits, etc, a lot these are most likely bots. If you compare it to SSForum's # of bot hits that it tracks as bots (have over 1000 known bots in the list), the 250,000/month seems about right with all these stats. Seems people are posting SSForum on more and more sites. That and a lot of stuff we post here, people seem to google up, and link to from other forums also (oddly enough found one of our car threads linked to on some weird site).

Well, I've posted this sort of stuff MANY times in the admin forums and such, but I figured this time around I'd post em here. So just to remind you the game might not have as many players, we're still getting people from all over the internet checking out these sites...

Names resetting... Now some ops will do it, if you actually plan to PLAY on the name. IE: you wanted the name Cancer, it was very inactive, probably just collected long ago by someone, and you plan to use it instead of Cancer+. Now I won't name the ops who do this, as I don't know if it is any longer ok or against the rules to do so, but they haven't gotten in trouble yet, and I honestly agree with doing it the way they do. Priit a few years back, to fix issues with A LOT of squads being owned by *UNKNOWN* (squadowner's name reset, but still people on squad), reset them all, and if I remember correctly, he also set it so it does this now from time to time itself. Names reset automatically depending on the amount of usage. Typically a high usage name will take years if ever. One of mine I forgot p!@#$%^&* to (before ?setmail/?lostp!@#$%^&*word/etc.) lasted for almost 4.5yrs. I maybe had 4000hrs on it. Noone besides Priit really knows exactly how the biller decides to reset names, but I will say that many have realized that the resets seem to coincide with scoreresets. Probably since could easily tie in the control to reset scores to go through names at the same time, since it is editing the database anyways.

SSCI and SSCT mostly back up... Ok... so this fiasco is all over. GJ Priit and announcing it to everyone.

So hoch's right hand man fixed it... Old IP wasn't allowed on biller port in their firewall... Yay... now onto SSCI and SSCW's issues. Edit: in hoch's defense, he had checked it like an hr ago. So dunno what happened there, if it undid it or didn't save or what.

yes. we spend like 15mins diliberating each idea... Although we have a new one... Priit forgot to add DSB to Firewall maybe... Oh and ASSS has the billing_proxy built into it... or so I remember seeing it in there. Edit: Oh and finally... we didn't have to for mg. Changed it in proxy, recycled zone, it came right back up connected. Edit2: Well, then again, we had proxy off for a bit, and not zone... so maybe needs to shut dsb down for a min or 2 before doing it...

and DSB still not working...

Issue with this me, hoch, and kirk are finding... Zone's cannot connect to the old ip directly... Only through the SSC proxy. Or atleast subgame ones... or atleast SSCC, SSCW, and DSB... We had MG back on after Pure_Luck gave me old ip and said it was only other one in server.ini and commented out. So we tried it since they use proxy and wouldn't make sense to be in there. So we tested it on mg, and kirk put it into proxy, and got mg online. Then changed DS and SW, they didn't connect. Got them on proxy, and boom, worked. So Cham tried w/ SSCW, doesn't have proxy, no work. Hoch trying DSB, again, no proxy, doesn't work. So hoch is firing the proxy up and if it works, seems something odd is up.

So what's up with it this time? Some zones seem to have billing (TW and Chaos), but most others don't. And some SSCU/X zones bots are down and not working. Decide to get on to kill some morning boredom, but guess I'll just stick to GTA4. Edit: NVM. Priit must be working on something, cause all my messages are cleared like normal, and ?chat seems to spill out smooth again. Although may just be a tw only thing.

I'm |-| close to fixing Aceflyer's alias to !@#$%^&*spawn1440... or !@#$%^&*spawn1440 v2.0? Everything I've seen lately reminds me so much of him in his early days.

I have an idea of why it does maybe, i'll look through it later tonight. I'd also do [chatlog] or [sslog] for now, incase in IPB 3.0 they use [log] for something. They are adding all sorts of new features/recoding IPB from ground up, so never know what they are gonna do. It's like this latest version of phpbb, ground up, and everything changed.

I myself did some minor fixes on the LVZ and some bot fixes. But just lacked time to help finish anything more like I had wished. Gotta love work and responsibilities.
