    BLAH OLD TOPIC

In all intensive purposes? I didn't realize the pseudo-LC was also a pseudo-intellectual. The formulas are common knowledge already available, don't be insulting and irrelevant by being stubborn and prideful. Considering you don't/can't count the exact damage that's done to you or anyone else, you have no idea beyond a very general one of how much damage you're taking. Players love to make ridiculous assumptions and erroneous observations as a result... The non-prox bombs all do pretty decent damage (especially Falcon), but ships recover 100-250+ energy in between (for relatively low delay bombs) shots from the same ship (and that's not even taking into account the amount of time it takes to get from ship A to ship B!) So even doing a lot of damage in a bomb doesn't really mean a lot to a high-recharge build unless you finish them or they take damage from something else quickly. The problem in HS is that it's pretty easy to get high recharge (even without Temp) and very high agility to run just enough to prevent being finished.

I guess I probably shouldn't mess with items until this "league" is done, eh? That's no fun, though.
  5. I was going to, but probably not now.

wrong for inactive shrap damage, but +2 pixels per level OH NO by then if you are getting hit you are probably taking close to max damage anyway (by being engulfed by giant blast radius), otherwise it only changes the equation when you get hit indirectly, and you'll STILL be taking less damage because -140ish or whatever it is now far offsets any radius boost. hey it's still page 1 (for me) and we already have a flagrant example of this it's any wonder people still post these because all I ever see is "i want this game to be easier than it is," honestly. if you want to make a small post I will comment on how you are right or wrong but I think I'm going to ignore the big ones. to be fair to unix who is normally very self-serving but reasonable this time I'll address the first post - oracle is underrated, it's a very nice item - entropy is underrated, it might need a boost but not really, it's not meant to compete with other bombs especially not falcon--but it does its job better than falcon would if you used it the same way. - jedlik is overpowered - already talked about bomb armor - bricks are broken because you can shipchange freely and can't stop people by using antiwarp. looks like we need to not only bring in a 20 second shipchange delay but also a 10 second spawn delay (maybe or maybe not on top of a 10 second respawn time) preventing SCs with antiwarp would also be mega cool. - sharppinger is the wannabe's weapon, mass driver really is overrated - already commented on repels - combo's not really broken but if it were it would be because of salvo and repels being poorly implemented in continuum. light ships already get such a small sig selection, no need to remove

You are talking out of your ass regarding Shock. Those minor tweaks to shrap damage and explode pixels do not have that much of an impact. The armor is designed to focus on bombs in general, but it is best at doing its job (total damage reduction) against a shrapless bomb.

This must be a joke thread, Naquadah isn't on the chop block and people are asking to BOOST shock matrix... hahaha A problem with repels isn't anything except that they refire 1 second after the initial fire, causing odd effects and effectively making them last longer than they should. This seems to be hardcoded into Continuum. The other problem is that repels SET speed, not subtract, so the faster someone's going, the more powerful the repel ends up being. This is hardcoded. P.S. I'm 100% sure that Temporal hasn't been nerfed enough. Remember it was made by the same guy who brought you such overpowered things like Ampere Imploder and the original Naquadah Gen, and they were all relatively based on each other, except I've left Temporal alone for the most part.
  9. No, and no. Maybe instead of failing to troll you could work on your reading comprehension.
  10. I think the only way to get you to understand the power of what we have is to do it myself, I think... oh well.
  11. You can't run it on Wine with just the installer at this time, so that wouldn't make sense?
  12. 6:17PM - 3:55PM != 3 minutes though.
  13. Isn't that the rule anyway?
  14. And it's better than yours, because it's not hardcoded to use any particular stat types or tables. Try making something like that.
  15. Would be cool, fortunately we have a stats module (you've seen it in flagtime I think), but would need a module to actually count up stats. The problem is spamming out (flag games that take forever have lots of players--the stats module would need tweaking to handle this) and also that it's hard to measure tangible benefit in a game where you are the most helpful by placing bricks, firing repels, etc. Maybe when things like that go away...
  16. I have to agree though, nothing would be more hilarious than people getting angry at you playing the game correctly instead of doing this.
  17. Looks like you missed what I was getting at, too.

  20. I think you may have just completely misunderstood what D1 was getting at, and on top of that you responded with a not-so-cryptic semi-maybe-threat that no one really cares about.
  21. Hooray popularity contest 95% of HS basers don't know what they're doing anyway--how would they be able to vote on a worthy "MVP?"
  22. It's been thought of, but really the summoner item as it is now is just a joke of a real game play element. Plus regular attaching is tough in the current bases, maybe when we go with a wider base standard it'd be a good idea. There have been various ideas about what it could be turned into, but surprise--that takes a lot more work.
  23. A resolution limit is akin to banning players from a real-life sport who have certain superior physical traits, such as height, weight, or eyesight. Not only is a resolution limit inconvenient, but playing on a lower resolution can be outright ugly on certain monitors. I've been getting Continuum running better than it does in Windows, through Wine, using certain settings and correct drivers, on OpenSUSE. Only caveat is that I have to play in Windowed mode which sacrifices a tiny bit of resolution but actually works pretty well with multiple workspaces (full screen works too but tabbing-out doesn't seem to work at all.)
  24. You already answered your question: "Or, I suppose the problem is that there's no way to verify that the money was lost. Damn" There is no guarantee the log will have a complete story up to the point of the crash. Not unusual to see log records cut off in the middle of a line (where a crash occurred.) And even if it was reliable, it comes back to "No one is going to investigate what you may or may not have transferred. Don't try to waste time."
  25. If it's easy I'm sure you can manage doing it.
