  1. No one could duplicate your results, you posted no data when asked, and you lecture others on the scientific method? The burden of proof is on you, not me.
  2. Potential ships and useful ships are vastly different. Only mathematicians care about potential ships.
  3. Only thing I'd mention about that setup is that you've got it setup for dual channel memory instead of triple channel.
  4. Buy me a phone and I'll write a client.
  5. Don't spread your opinions as facts. Your "limit" testing was a joke.
  6. Because flash couldn't connect to our existing servers, and it'd be too easy to cheat.
  7. Last time I checked (6 months ago, before I bought my new comp) DDR2 was a good deal more expensive than DDR3.
  8. I personally think that signing should be used throughout the protocol. Everything could benefit from this, the biller, the game server, the client. Even the directory server might have some minor benefits.
  9. That's true with almost any other genre. Classical does sound different at 64kbps.
  10. The post he quoted talked about buying stats individually (like we did on the Area Bots). Since he was agreeing, I assumed he was agreeing. My mistake.
  11. Come back when you have more than your ?usage.
  12. So, Cheese, your argument is that having fewer items is less boring? Sorry, I think I missed something.
  13. Arguing about intellectual property in a game based on an illegally hacked client and server seems like an exercise in futility. Ultimately the only thing that matters are what the people holding the billing server (Priit, GS, and the Subspace Council to some extent) and directory servers (a diverse group of hosts) will do. And for MG, the answer is probably that they're not going to go out of their way to kill it, regardless of any IP that may be brought up.
  14. Probably because a 10kRPM drive isn't much better than any other magnetic drive. A solid state drive does make quite a difference in loading programs. I have a 120GB one in both my home and work computers. If I used my laptop more frequently, I'd buy one for it too.
  15. You can't compress something beyond its entropy. So taking a file that's as compressed as it can get (or close enough) and then zipping it will only add overhead instead of reducing file size. PNGs use compression algorithms optimized for real world pictures, and zips use algorithms targeting files in general. This means that PNGs will typically do a better job than zips, since they know more about how pictures work. If you're willing to throw information away, you can reduce the file size even more. That's how JPEGs work.
  16. Source?
  17. I can't imagine the SSC being too upset about a new zone being added to the game. It's not like a MG clone popping up when MG is an active zone. The worst that realistically I see happening is that the name of the zone has to be changed.
  18. Zipping a PNG will typically increase the overall size.
  19. I feel like your reply was directed at me, so I'll respond: what population is there to drive away with changes? It's a dead zone, after all. I'm not saying hs style items are the only way to go (or even the best way for MG's old population), but you have to continually evolve a zone if you hope to keep it alive, and items are an easy way to do that.
  20. Almost. I think a failed zone with no changes will fail.
  21. Only if you do things differently from the old one. E.g. use hscore.
  22. By that logic, alpha and warzone should be thriving independent zones, instead of Chaos subarenas.
  23. Please note that the password you give ?passwd is only utilized when the billing server is unavailable, so it's difficult to say for sure that it has worked.
  24. I haven't checked the code, but I'd assume the only character not handled properly (that you can input) would be spaces and characters above ASCII 127 (e.g. ß).

    Rush Levi:

    So you're saying 10/10 is 100% and 10/11 isn't 100%? Duh?
