    Let's discuss these items individually, eh? Why is this item necessary, it looks surprisingly much like radiating coils with smaller numbers and without the 'Signature' item type? Extremely low bomb delay. It was overpowered back in the day, it still would be. Edit: Let's not even start about the damage potential this has on a non-emp ship. When DPS is in a range that's several times that of existing items, it's not balanced. What makes this item unique? It looks like an alternative system optimizer. And, newsflash, we already have a system optimizer item.

  5. Well, I guess there's always an option of automatically resizing the area the game takes place in, so that as the population grows larger the available part of the map does so, too. I thought you didn't yet implement the things that hockey zone didn't yet do for its goalie?
  6. Interesting. Also, about the 'removal of centering', I don't quite agree. Sure, there wouldn't be a 'center' in the old sense, but centering more or less translates to 'fighting in the open' where dodging and aiming are what it's about, versus other skills in basing games. I imagine the map can also have more closed areas (similar to bases) and open space. Which is good, both types of gameplay can exist that way and there'll be a use to 'centering' warbirds and such.
  7. Don't agree. I'd rather gunners stopped caring about their valuable lives so much and instead used up their repels to block enemy rushers, kept gunning in the meanwhile, died, got new repels, repeat. The gunners who move behind the lanc to stay alive are worthless.
  8. How are you calculating the DPS? Just for giggles I recalculated Plasma (got 800) and Giga (got 1391) using (100/delay)*(64+(64*level)). Unless I'm using the wrong numbers, why are you always slightly off?
  9. Why not use Hydra? I think even with the penalties for PD it'll have more thrust, and thrust is important when you're being repped back every .3 seconds.
  10. Both seem a little on the OP side, don't you think? They both pretty much double (or more, in the Light Explosion Cannon's case?) the highest DPS seen for either weapon type in HS. As in, the array distorter achieves almost 2000 dps, and while it may eat your energy while doing that, it'll still be OP. I think the bomb does about the same, seeing as falcon can do 1000 damage quite easily.
  11. It isn't possible. A huge amount of bandwidth is required to change 'bulletdamage' and 'bulletdamageup' on the fly whenever the 'no more damage' condition is met, and then when that temporary invincibility against bullets is gone. Edit: There is a method, currently in development for Everspace, however that involves giving players infinite energy and recharge (pretty much) and handling damage entirely server-side. It doesn't really fit a zone like Hyperspace though, and it'd involve a huge amount of work to get working properly.
  12. More buffs to those stats for faraday and it'll be quite overpowered. It's for emp, why would you get it if you wanted good bullet or bomb protection? Sounds like you're looking for a signature that isn't a signature to me. Edit: Although a signature armor that provides faraday-esque (hopefully even better) emp protection along with decent bullet protection (and optionally bomb damage reduction, as long as the bullet reduction is decent) would totally get my use on a lanc. Parallel + Emp safety + Overall protection, woot.
  13. You do realize that you so far have failed to bring up any items that could in some way be considered balanced? Also, that Brace Armor isn't actually possible with ASSS. You can't magically prevent a ship from taking damage (unless you think prizing shields every time a ship took 500 damage would be a good thing). That and the rush lanc argument. If you want new items it might be a good idea to think up items that aren't ridiculously unbalanced. @Wolfie, a version of glow that doesn't have -1 energy/recharge would be terrible because its effects would be pretty much zero, I'd think. The -1/-1 is there for a reason. Also Faraday is the best armor in HS, don't improve it please or my ships with parallel relay will become even more powerful.
  14. I personally think a light-weight implementation of HS' item system would fit in fine. The 'get money and upgrade' element does help get people to stay, which helps in sustaining population when (if?) you get it. DS was fine with turf before, flagging I never really liked there. A more intuitive spawn system (maybe a 'selection screen' on death, where you get a quick view of the map showing which parts your team controls and such) would also be neat. The whole !setspawn blahblah where you had to pretty much know the 'locations', as numbers iirc, by heart, wasn't exactly ideal. That said, the whole turf gameplay system could be expanded where you control parts of the map and slowly advance to the other team's base, and possibly then win the round or do something else neat. I don't know, just throwing out ideas.
  15. The problem is you're asking for a decent armor to provide all-round defense. That just doesn't work, the fact that it provides all-round defense means that individually those damage reductions have to be negligible for balance reasons. Not talking about signatures here obviously. I do agree some extra items could be used here and there. Personally I think some items that do 'unusual' things for their item class could be fun: for example, a reactor that slightly boosts rotation/other movement stats by only giving +2/+3 bonus(es) to energy/recharge. Call it a rotary engine for all I care
  16. DS' population will probably (and hopefully) be higher with revamped gameplay, so that makes the whole 'MG argument' rather pointless.

  18. Agree with switching to asss. There's no disadvantages to it that I know of. The RPG aspect of HSCore might also 'encourage' some players to stay, for a change. Oh and off topic, welcome back Killerbot

  21. I like this part most. More competitiveness = good. Does the losing player lose a point? Otherwise 2 players could just take turns in dueling eachother and work their way up :/.

    What makes you think ragejoining after all flags are dropped doesn't add to the jackpot? It grabs the highest jackpot in the last xyz minutes (or since flags were grabbed) as far as I know. And that depends on the amount of exp already present in the flaggame. If you know that number just use the formula Dr Brain put online.
