So what was wrong with my suggestion to hire competent staff, rather than powertripping idiots?
-
I assume the evener works off of ?flag, so you'd still need to command to be used or at least a bit of coding to make the evener work even if players get auto-placed on 90 or 91. ?Flag can then be used to re-enter a flagging freq after changing to a 'private' frequency. Anyhow, I really don't think being put on flagging freqs instantly will motivate players to flag. People might just center in them or change frequencies if 90 or 91 are too restrictive for them.

I'd say there's no need to intercept packages. Try googling 'Oblivion Script Extender', 'Oblivion Graphics Extender' or anything similar for its prequel. Both of those don't touch the game's (TES IV: Oblivion, in this case) executable, but they provide more variables/functions/etc. to play with for scripts, allow new shaders, supply information from the game TO shaders, etc. http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Category:Oblivion_Script_Extender

This one has a point. Did it never occur to you that letting the population ban/silence/kick other players on demand might be a tad exploitable? Edit: If the big problem in DSB is the staff, why not just start over. Fire every single staffer and hire other players. If the zone staff can't fix its own problems, how do you expect it to fix other people's problems anyhow?
-
I'd rather modify the current 'beginner items' to be more worthwhile - but that won't solve the problem. Fact is that people leave before they even buy those beginner items, although the zone would be quite doable if they just bought them and went on with life. No idea how to fix that though.

I'm not arguing that that is or isn't the goal, I'm simply saying that my experience with hosting in the past (in ?go events, paint, tetris or wherever) is that it generally reduces population (quite effectively at that).

June 15 2011 Added Metaphasic Armor

Besides being more work than 'any developer' (yeah, I know we have a lot of those) will likely think it's worth, I don't really like the idea of 'borrowed ships' or anything similar to that. The point of the slow increase in experience is that, if you really want that awesomepossom item up there in the experience ladder, you have to work for it. Being handed a decent/great ship right off the bat and using that until you unlock the items for yourself means you never really experience (pun not intended) 'climbing the exp ladder'.

Generally, population drops after hosting an event in a non-pub arena. Simply because you can't be spamming ?z messages about the arena CONTINUOUSLY, and thus people will enter, see an empty pub and leave. And that's ignoring people who simply dislike 3v3 or 4v4 duel/elim-like events.

This one has experience.

Because most zones have a public arena with a purpose, right? I mean, clearly Trench Wars has the population it has due to the fact that its public arena has a purpose.

Except for everyone who develops or has done so in the past. Just because something hasn't been made doesn't mean people don't know how to do it. It might just have to do with the fact that all a bomb PD would do is miss and/or TK the owner. Edit: Also, just give up on the whole drone/turret idea. We have enough PDs and HS isn't exactly a zone for AI drones. People complain enough about repels..

[quote name=kevinz ' timestamp='1307762185' post='275678] 2.plz get a moudule so i can invent mine and bomb pd I don't know what you mean by that, but if you mean somehow splitting up mine stats and bomb stats, that's simply not possible.

Heh, D1, last time I checked it was your module being used for the dual barrel bombs. The python module making it "happen" is about 2 lines of code

[quote name=kevinz ' timestamp='1307681836' post='275657] also i want the ammo system back! Imagine the rage that would ensue.

A change to old maps for a week or two sounds like fun. I remember base 5 being pretty biased for the defense though, haven't looked at the other bases much.

[quote name=kevinz ' timestamp='1307645172' post='275643] how about a warp drive that takes your ship to any coord but not anywhere close to a flag room? il post more about this later now its hyperspace time! The idea is somewhat interesting. Although I think the current FTL do their job just fine. Any more accurate than TW Key's "center coordinates" is a bit too exploitable. The darkmatter mines - settings don't work that way. I can't make something do "1500 damage", it's dependant on level (to some extent), shrapnel (level), etc.

Get 2 fake players that fire in a specific direction relative to the player, from a location relative to the player. Then give them bombs. Voila.
-
Actually, if people voted for what they wanted most it'd make me really happy and influence my item-making. Possibly. Maybe. There's a chance that would happen. You never know. Edit: What's a booster? &Voted for Addons, Emitters, 15000-20000 exp, sig & nonsig. Like a boss.

Think about what would happen without a reset, before posting silly things like these please. Unless you honestly think that a zone where everyone has '$toomuchtospend and a ridiculous amount of experience in their account' is fun. Must be great to start in such a zone. People instantly give you millions, and then all you have to do is play for a few weeks to get the experience to spend it. I'd argue the only thing that stopped the zone from dying years ago is the reset.

June 3 2011 Added the Evasion Mount, a new type of mount that grants a repel and a rocket. June 7 2011 Added Proton Beam. June 8 2011 Tweaked (generally lowered) Slipstream's weaknesses.

You should be able to figure out the answer to that yourself. It might have to do with the fact that pretty much every Spider or Levi will get it if it's just a single Addon sacrifice to have summon. May 31 2011 (Again) Modified Evoker's additional (armor-like) bonuses to fit more into the 'Addon' slot - They're now antiwarp-, xradarenergy reductions. -Explodepixels stayed. It also grants a small amount of map/radar zoom, similar to Combat Sensors.

Heh.

Somewhere at the start of this topic I stated that pretty much everything I do can be changed/reverted/deleted/whatever at will. It's pretty obvious that when I've just changed an item I may do so again. May 31 2011 Added some protection against common damage types in bases to Evoker to compensate for it being Signature.

Despite that being complete nonsense (double the delay and half the energy use is a massive difference making Shredder and the changed Gamma completely different guns), I figured that yet another spam gun in Hyperspace wasn't that great, soooo..: May 30 2011 Reverted Gamma Ray to old state. Added Binary Cannon. Added Antiwarp Energy reduction to Oracle System.
