Yees... you did that nice 3-page gameship class or something

I am... I think I'm the only dedicated coder in this entire game... all I got from the others was 2-3 pages of code...

    Horrible lag

Hmm... is software emulation checked in the advanced options by any chance? Try those "no clipping" and "avoid page flipping" checkboxes, maybe they'll help. Also try start->run->dxdiag and see if hardware acceleration is disabled maybe. (Although I guess you'd notice it with other games too then... but doesn't hurt to check ) By the way, are you using some Dell-specific drivers or the official NVidia ones? (I'm just curious since I saw "(Dell)" written in the adapter name. Although if you are, you could try the official ones.) Do other games work fine? Also, try shutting down all those Norton thingies and RealPlayer thingies and everything too (if you already didn't). Those can cause this too, not only spyware. PS. Congrats, it's been a while since I've seen a system info listing that has no spyware listed in it That looks all good for me, the computer should certainly run Continuum fine.

    Resolution

All supported ones should show up by default. If they are not shown, update your video card drivers. If that does not help, you can try checking the "Show all default resolutions" checkbox in the advanced options. If that does not help either, you'll have to use some 3rd party program to force Continuum into another resolution.

    Horrible lag

The problem seems to be with your computer. I'd bet half of my left hand that there's simply some other program eating up the computer resources from Continuum. Try closing everything else. I could also be that the video card drivers are messed up. Try updating them. Also update sound card and DirectX drivers. If this does not help, give us your system specs. (The best way to do this is start->run->msinfo32 and then file->export from inside the app)

    So it seems
  8. Nope, absolutely not. That's perfectly fine, just a router that's not really doing the best thing with "ICMP Whateveritwas" packets. Still, no packetloss.
  9. Nononononononono. Stop right there. There is no packetloss! For all intents and purposes, the last hop is the only one that counts. It has no packetloss in that case. Any intermediary hops do not give meaningful packetloss information and are only to be used for theoretical guesstimation. Let me say this again: there is no packetloss problem! Now, back to the issue... does this happen with another computer on the same network? That could narrow it down to a network or computer problem.
  10. As a side note, Winamp 2 rules On topic: no, it doesn't have to be the same company. Almost any other stick should work (with a few exceptions if you have very cheap ram/motherboard). Also, the only RAM that'll fit in normal slots is DDRAM (DDR SDRAM), so there's no choice there. You don't have to get PC2700 but the computer will use the worst speed from both sticks for both, so 2700 is the most useful one.
  11. And people who give a crap about whether things look alike should still be shot. No offence

20% or so, I guess. The server framework is more or less all done, but not much else.
  13. 1st: That's not quite accurate. It's 10 TCP connections per second which really doesn't affect Continuum, since it doesn't use TCP. However, yeah, BT will still make playing worse because it'll use up other network resources. The Windows networking system can often break in really funky ways if you're running a P2P app. I would suggest that after doing the trace you also try and get a network bandwidth monitor (NetLimiter or some other) and start a really big download and let it run for 15 minutes or so. See if you notice any spikes or something in the graphs. Could be that your connection is just dropping for a few seconds now and then. (I hate networking problems, they're all so funky and can be caused even by having bad breath, so to speak )
  14. Sounds really neat It would be slightly easier to do in as2, yeah, if you can get one of its 3 coders to help you out Anyway, good luck

The SS code would probably be of zero usefulness. There's really nothing that's "unknown" about this game, so existing code wouldn't help a bit. Neither would Continuum code help, at least for me, because 1) I'm using a different programming language, 2) I'm doing things completely differently. So existing code is pretty much useless. Time is the only resource I need. Desperately Oh, and by the way, I was already planning on 2.5D right from the start. That's a definite feature I'll probably leave plain old 2D support in too, it should be quite seamless if I can pull off the graphics engine right. Right now, I've got a plain old 2D one but it's just a prototype and integrating 3D should be easy-ish.
  16. What reason does it give for disconnecting? A trace of around 50 cycles could also prove useful.

Going very slow. !@#$%^&* school I have 30 minutes of free time per day, if that. So I can only work on it on weekends, really. Plus I've got a small job which requires my free time even on weekends, so... eeeheheh... situation: bad
  18. It still would not work for school play. Plus browser security settings would need to be changed, which is a pain in the !@#$%^&*. So this would not really be useful to many, especially if they have no idea how to set it up. And there's really no active development for this game, so this unforunately will never happen, at least in the foreseeable future.
  19. Well, ?version most certainly should work... and ?man What does the readme file say? It should mention a version or something. Maybe post the whole biller directory?
  20. Yeah, sounds like you're not running Catid's biller
  21. What Trained said
  22. This is getting inredibly funny I notice spin seems to like taking things out of context/distorting them in most of his paragraphs Bad spin, bad! I mean, like those 14 points. Hah. The sexism one, for example. And all the rest, I think. The first one, of course. Hahah I'm not going to argue here since... well my eyes simply auto-avert themselves from such text :sos:
  23. He's unlisted
  24. Most of the time, this is caused by some other annoying !@#$%^&* program who is eating up all the CPU time. Close everything else down and try again.
  25. The game comes with default zones. Do they work? If not, see the FAQ about not being able to connect. Also, do a trace and tell us whether it shows anything or the list is just blank. (Press the trace button when a zone is selected)
