  1. No, it's the forum for Subspace/Continuum general.
  2. Welcome to the internets. Honestly, if you are getting emotional on forums, don't go on them. Especially games forums.
  3. I thought minegoboom now provides the file hosting, making this a nonissue??

    Servers down

And I hosted something for the previous owner of MK, but I think that they never quite got the hang of linux/asss
  5. Which is why the world is more spread out.
  6. TextFX > TextFX Edit > Delete Blank Lines TextFX > TextFX Edit > Delete Surplus Blank Lines You probably used an editor (at some point) that places a drop line without showing it.
  7. Good luck, root.
  8. Well, the prices aren't my main issue, it's the fact that we're still stuck with an old client, not much development, lots of zones that are dead (be it crippled or not) and no hopes for a replacement client within at least 1 (optimistically speaking) year, and that doesn't include how long it will take to bug test, then actually roll out the client to everybody. I believe it'd be a lot more sensible to do big advertising plans once we've actually got something worth advertising. To be honest, with the exception of ASSS, this game hasn't moved forward at all since the release of LVZs.

    7 on mine.
  10. Yeah, but I think that I don't get any money until April.
  11. For a game that doesn't generate any money, everything is telling me that's a very bad idea.
  12. I can't wait till' April to do my tax return, I was paying about 600-700/mo in taxes, but since I am now a student I can redeem that money. Wooo, c'mon tax return!
  13. Hate to say it but... I told ya so. Promotions would be best, i.e. getting press reports/diggs/facebook groups etc; and maybe focusing on more of our present problems (zones that are crippled by dead SoPs etc) to help retain our current population as best possible.

MERC Ground Warfare was great fun.
  15. Yep, I just sit in Hyperspace; if you don't want all the bullshit pub chat 'AD AD AD AD AD' that you usually get in Hyperspace, then ?nopubchat works just fine.
  16. It's no different than a server-client model, ie. Subgame2 and Continuum. EDIT: But meh, I would think the programming part of anything that deals with netcode and networking wouldn't be the easiest task in the world. It being server/client isn't the issue. The issue is coding a map editing application that allows for real time collaboration. I know I wouldn't want to do it using VB6. Google Tool Kit includes the complete API for Google Wave, which is a pretty good online collaboration tool, and would allow the editor to be used from within a browser. Google have also recently acquired EtherPad and have open sourced all of it's code. I'd honestly be more focused on getting a platform independent version of DCME rolled out in C or C++ first, though.
  17. I don't understand. Do you mean you can fly to tile 1,1024 and then appear back at 1,1?
  18. Yep, XKCD is always full of win.
  19. Reason for SSCA = Will appear first in alphabetical zone searches.
  20. I've not read over all the ideas in the thread, because I'm limited on time - but I suggest used Google toolkit for anything like this. It would involve recreating discretion, but it's what Wave is coded in. Real time collaboration is harder than you'd think it is.
  21. C&C is an iconic game. Great fun.
  22. Brilliant.
  23. For the record, the internets isn't the best place for relationship advice.
  24. Firstly, it doesn't take months to make that kind of money playing HS. I managed to get over 150K in a matter of hours, without basing, so the frivolous 'it takes months' comment was just you fapping. Secondly, any loan system requires interest. That is a variable that you're free to choose, but seeing as Hyperspace is full of people that hate each other, if you want to go with a system that can be easily crippled - that's your (dumb) choice. As I've said multiple times (hence why you're missing the point) any interest/credit value etcetera can be adjusted based on risk. The system I proposed was merely risk free (as per your request in the first place). Thirdly, the whole reason we're having this discussion, is because you wanted to eliminate the chance you can get scammed. So, yeah - we should talk about 'scammability'. Your system is based on your judgement of a person you've never fucking met, who plays a 2D spaceship game, which revolves around making money - and said person stands ZERO risk if s/he doesn't pay you back, and the staff will NOT help you. If you think that's a bright idea, then you're clearly not the brightest crayon in the pack. And finally, I am really growing tired of rebutting your poorly written, illogical posts. You're clearly: 1) a douche, for making a big thing out of nothing; when this started with somebody trying to help you, which leads you to also being 2) a prick and 3) a waste of my time. So to summarize: 1) My system is 100% automated. 2) It requires next to nothing to start, and maintain. 3) If it gets scammed, it's not a big deal. 4) Would be completely open. 5) Would be a beneficial service. However your system is: 1) Just you hacking together some basic Java bot that does nothing but message you when somebody wants a loan. 2) Is nothing like a bank. 3) Requires a LOT of your money to be useful and/or maintain. 4) If you get scammed, you cry like a bitch and system goes bye-bye. 5) Is about as trustworthy are you are. 6) Is beneficial only to the people you like... Now stop your jibber-jabber.

    ASSS

I'd rather run asss through multiple instances, anyway. I think Xog was after something more like the ap_multipub module, or the idea of a single zone hosting multiple sub-zones kind of like my Algol idea. Bottom line, there aren't enough zones devving, the zones that are devving may as well go for their own zone, and it's hard to say who owns what. Also, generally people are too worried about their zone being the best, and seem to think that people are too stupid to look for other zones. (attack at no advertising rule in general, there).
