  1. I was just upgrading some software on my server, ds1.krslynx.com should be online (should have only been offline for perhaps 1, maybe 2 minutes.
  2. The billing server, or part of the billing server at least be open source; to allow for continuous development. Other than that, I think that all of the other indie billing servers cover quite well exactly what would be good/not so good in terms of new features to implement.
  3. Use SSTHISZONEISONSSCYOUCANTRUSTUS!
  4. Twitter is limited to something like 145 characters. Perhaps a parser that grabs the title and a bit.ly URL too.
  5. You can't expect everyone to have the money to put into such a project, nor can you expect every player to have a paypal account or other payment-over-the-internet method, nor does everyone necessarily agree with the fact that these advertisements are having any impact whatsoever on the game. I'd rather be honest and vote 0, than vote something I could never fulfill. I'm with Hak on this one. Unless theres some proof that ads are following through, I'd be reluctant on paying for them.
  6. I think the issue is that marriage alters your legal rights, and marriage also is considered to be a religious ceremony. Therefore, because marriage is a religious ceremony; the churches get involved. Also, as marriage changes your legal rights and status; it becomes political. As I see it, this whole thing stems from marriage being a legal ceremony in the first place, while being a partnership by religious sacrament. My opinion is that no law should ever be made that respects; or is advantageous to any religion or religious body. I believe once that error is fixed, there should be no reason why Government should ever need be concerned. Currently, marriage gives you different legal rights than those from a civil union, or a civil partnership. As marriage is practiced not by the Government, but by the churches - then it's clearly the prerogative of the churches as to whom they marry; but a Government should respect the human rights of it's citizens. To do this it should either change the rights gained from marriage, or provide something else that isn't offered by a religious body that has equal rights. Same sex marriage doesn't bother me at all. What two people do with themselves isn't of my concern; provided it doesn't effect me (which it doesn't) - I don't care.
  7. Message me when I am next online in SS and I will come test with you. I'm still interested as to what that zone is like.
  8. You're also approx. 100 miles from your exchange. Call Sky out and say that your ping is completely unacceptable etcetera

  10. The amount of images in this thread is making my arsehole twitch. I really like your idea, Sama. It shouldn't be hard for somebody who's good with Flash to make, either.

  12. @Prokazer, NBV, Simul: You're all nazis. @Synister: Yes, I do.
  13. Yeah, perhaps a future client could have a way of dynamically changing viewing distance within the game. Would be cool provided it was smooth.
  14. I should have my 27" iMac soon, that has a 2560 x 1440 resolution. Should be cool. Continuum is still best played in 1024x768, though. I got used to 1900x1600 once, but I find the bigger the resolution, the worse I am in close combat.

    Spotify

I'm not using Spotify at the moment, so I can lend you my account until you get an invite. (To be honest with you, the adverts are/were getting extremely annoying on Spotify, they started getting considerably louder and seemed to *always* be about how weed is bad, or about a new club opening in London, that seemed to be opening for about three months...)
  16. Samas point on a variation of settings is a very good one. Perhaps if we use asss to host this we'll be able to easily switch every bodies settings (maybe a few 5-10 minute games).
  17. It might not be a bad idea to use higher quality explosions etc, perhaps a Trench Wars or Extreme Games event. Also, you could use a fleet of AI bots, and as many real players as possible.
  18. AFAIK, this functionality is inclusive of Merv. I think you just spawn the bot into a ship, and then set the bots location. There might be a module around that will spawn it there or have settings, I forget. Ehrm, something is telling me you might need to false an attach, too. It's been so long since I've used Merv so I can't really remember.
  19. Ehrm, English speaking in Europe kinda limits you, but of course with a lot of European countries, the majority of the population can speak English. To be honest with you, if you're thinking of moving to England I'd suggest you think elsewhere. London is only good if you've got a well-paid job - it's very expensive here just to get by to be honest. Then of course, if you want to get out of London, you've got to prepare for a slight drop in salary, and to be honest... things are *very* quiet - but I might just be saying that because I was brought up in the city. I'm currently in Bangor and I find that things like service/hospitality/attitude is MUCH better out here - arseholes are few and far between but... it's slow. And quite boring. I wouldn't want to live here. The same goes for pretty much anywhere in Great Britain really - the main cities are similar to London - and the quiet places are all quite similar too. The only difference is the accents, I find - but that just might be my opinion. As for other places in Europe - Spain can be nice, depending on where you go, and Spanish isn't a hard language to pick up. If you move to a densely populated part of Spain, most people will also be multilingual too. France sucks. I fucking hate France. Belguim is actually very nice, I've spent a lot of time in both Antwerp and Brussels - actually I really like Antwerp. Switzerland is pretty good, I spent a while in Zurich with my brother - while it's REALLY expensive (I mean, it's extortionate) Zurich is a VERY clean, small city - and the amount of good looking girls there was jaw-dropping. Also, it's got a great climate, very hot in the summer, very cold in the winter - and you can catch a train up to the alps (for winter holidays etc). Austria was alright. I tried to get my head around German, which I wasn't too bad at - but... They talk some retarded dialect called high-german or something. Impossible to understand. I've been a load of other places too, but not really for long enough to get a feel of what it'd be like to live there.
  20. Disclaimer: I've written this post after a LONG night out, at an all-you-can-drink night club. To summarise; while your intentions of helping the community are welcomed, I think it'd be best to leave methods like this alone. As I said, the current client actually is pretty good at keeping jerks at bay, and another client may not be so good at doing so. If of course we're wrong (which I don't really think we are) and you know exactly what it takes to reverse engineer something like Continuum, then feel free to make changes - but I'd strongly suggest that you release any finalised work to people who do know what they're taking on. I've tried a few times to reverse engineer Continuum, and to be honest - I found it a wall of headache (I mean to actually get things working again). While I admit I am not nearly as competent a computer scientist as others in the community - I'd say I have a fairly good idea of what I am doing, and a fairly good understanding of what's required. I know that I definitely wouldn't trust myself with the release of another edited client, though - and, to be honest I wouldn't really trust you with it either. Anyway, I am anticipating that you'll have a rage-reply coming but in an effort to get things back on track you said that you saw some 'caves' of code that could provide further functionality? It'd be real good if you could explain these, as that is quite intriguing information. Furthermore, I am curious as to whether you've actually managed to make changes to the client, and re-package it with the same strength encryption (I recall a lot of features using... very excessive encryption (RSA4096)), and whether the client could play stable in SSC zones.
  21. There are a lot of things that I like about America, though. The constitution I believe is probably one of the best pieces of literature I've ever read - and if America was half as free as it claims to be it'd be a country I'd seriously be interested in moving to. Unfortunately, the whole freedom front that Americans like to gloat about is evidently bullshit. They're not quite as socialist as the UK is, but they're not far from it.
  22. Brilliant.
  23. I'm getting pretty bad now, so I figure by the end of University (four years of straining my eyes in a huge lecture room at a damn chalkboard) I'll be much worse. Laser Op when I get a *real* job, methinks. Interesting that your eyes get worse before 21-25, Confess, I've not heard that one before.
  24. I know my girlfriends birthday present. =D (2010-01-21 15:38:20) Christopher: http://images6.cafepress.com/nocache/product/3650536v2147483647_480x480_Front_Color-White.jpg (2010-01-21 15:38:26) Christopher: I'm tempted to get you this (2010-01-21 15:38:42) bee.: wtf is that (2010-01-21 15:38:44) bee.: lol (2010-01-21 15:39:00) bee.: what's that logo for? (2010-01-21 15:39:05) Christopher: Subspace (2010-01-21 15:39:11) bee.: ... 25. Hrmm, I'm in the UK and make it in six hops (after my router, and the Uni switchboard). Maybe it's because I'm connecting from an education establishment that uses SuperJANET. I'd say it's probably Sky that's causing you trouble - Sky used to give me terribad service, I disconnected pretty much two weeks after signing up. Virgin Media currently is probably my favorite ISP for the UK provided you can get fiber coverage in your area. Check your router security settings, and DHCP. Make sure you've not got the standard configuration, if you do somebody could be leeching.
