Except that Devastation already makes use of modified graphics as does Hyperspace, so this isn't just a case of replacing the original graphics (well, except the explosion), but potentially some of the current ones in place. You may find downloading a hindrance, but most zones frequently rotate their graphics and maps around, especially during Holidays. It's certainly nothing new to SubSpace. Anyhow, rather than a poll, I say just do it and wait for people's reaction.

Cheer up, we did this last year. The Valentine's day banner doesn't change your personal banner stored on the biller. If you've visited any other zone you would have already noticed this. But anyhow, I forgot it was still up, so I've disabled it in Deva. Take the SSCU zone offline, have 17th hosted on a different and reliable server. Problem solved. MTN was just too afraid to push the zone forward.

Tm is all talk; he wouldn't participate even if we had our own separate forums. Heck, he's never even bothered to help update or post news on deva's website. You already know what happened to SOS. Everyone else simply left because real life caught up with them and they don't really care much for SubSpace anymore. Sometimes they show up for old time's sake. It's about the same as wondering what ever happened to No_Remorse. As for the Halloween map, I would have kept it up for at least a week, but someone else took it down right after.

Before everyone jumps all over the idea, what exactly do we gain out of changing server and host? I've toyed with the idea long ago, but I still fail to see what advantages we can gain out of this. The fundamental issues are going to remain the same.

Well what exactly are your needs in terms of getting a VPS? Do you seek to run a website, use it to host files, play around with Linux, host a game server? I don't know much about all the different VPS services offered around, but as you noted, I have heard good things about Linode. Personally, however, I chose to go with VPSLatch because it provides managed hosting and so far I've found their support excellent. The prices are comparable to Linode, so it's not exactly all that cheap either.

Well, the statement itself isn't false, but I think what L.C. was trying to highlight was that Phoenix is designed as a completely separate game with some elements reminiscent of SubSpace (kind of like Cosmic Rift), whereas Discretion was created to supersede Continuum while still retaining compatibility. The Facebook idea was raised in the past, but this community as a whole lacks people with the skills, time and patience to bring about something new, yet similar onto the current playing field.

Any plans on basing the server package on ASSS 1.4.4, or the latest version 1.5.0rc? Or providing the revisions necessary for zone owners to add support for Discretion?
