  1. The valid directory servers are listed and periodically updated here. Currently all but 'dir.cz.sshq.net' are online.
  2. False. You told people not to distribute it by painting yourself giant hobo signs inscribed with something along the lines of warnings and 'it's unsafe', and 'make sure to back up your entire computer before installing'. I'm exagerating here a bit, but you get the point. IIRC Aceflyer was more than supportive of your installer, and so was most other people. So no one else here can be thrown the blame.
  3. Then how about this, when putting a thread back in the forum, please delete the redundant redirect. Thank you.
  4. Honestly, if SVS would have remained the only dominant settings configuration, SubSpace would have been dead in 1998. Also amazing how nearly all SVS zones died on their own accord or merged due to a dropping playerbase. Every change since SubSpace has not hindered the game, but rather helped it prosper in many aspects. (Except PriitK's unwillingness to p!@#$%^&* the code on to someone more competent than himself -- but that's another story) And honestly, Jeff cared jack !@#$%^&* about the game; he barely cares about Infantry, and his ignorance led to its more gradual downfall in light of a more player-focused Free Infantry which aimed at fixing the crap Jeff refused to fix. Keeping the 'original design' invariably leads to a game's end, because all it is, and all it will ever remain is a fad. Nothing more, nothing less; as people can't play pong forever.
  5. There's nothing real special about particular tickets/arrests. It's mostly speeding, stupid driving, occasional drug/alcohol abuse, and some random ones here and there (e.g. 'UNLICENSED DOG', 'SEXUAL !@#$%^&*ULT W/INANIMATE OBJECT', or 'SEXUAL DISPLAY MASTURB,ACTUAL/SIMUL').
  6. Your point being? People have been doing this stuff since Vista was initially released.
  7. We'll just say that they both died 70 years ago, so that the game is now public domain.
  8. Root, it's !@#$%^&*S. And the subtle humour in the naming shouldn't surprise you, considering the BanG, or CLT/!@#$%^&* being widespread abbreviations for the Continuum Level Editor. But honestly, the only person who cares about ASSS being abbreviated to ASSS is Brain, and MGB too at one point. I just think it's ridiculous to have a hairy bird over it, considering it's been around for as long as '!@#$%^&*S' has been. 'nuff said
  9. I don't see you tryin
  10. I managed to do better than you: Spoiler! --Click here to view--http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/4980/awesomenq4.png
  11. Oh no, not this again. I did it before, and ended up with ~26%, all mistakes being in the blue-green region. Although I question how big an influence an LCD screen has.
  12. What AntiVirus are you using? You should be able to put Continuum on the exceptions list, or send the Continuum installer to the company so that they stop marking it down as a virus. If your problem isn't the antivirus itself, but rather 'vista', then you should check this referenced post instead.
  13. ew, don't keep the Continuum font graphics; they're way to limited. Go for full UTF-8 support when you have the chance. Anyhow, kudos on the update Doc.

There were quite a few, the oldest one being SSCon97.
  15. I second this. The front-end might be bland, but it's not that difficult to change the layout.
  16. 1. Have you tried uninstalling the entire game, and reinstalling in a different directory on your computer? (e.g. Try downloading from here, and then installing it in your Do!@#$%^&*ents folder) Or have you tried installing it under a different user account on your system? 2. Although I doubt this is the problem, is Windows DEP blocking Continuum? Are you sure you aren't running any firewalls or other programs prior to running Continuum? (read here)
  17. I especially like the one at the bottom left
  18. Well Chrome's code is heavily based off Firefox, so I'd expect it to work if FF does.
  19. Two of those directory servers are wrong, copy + paste this instead: sscentral.sscuservers.net, ssdir.playsubspace.com, warpath.bluetoast.org, sharvil.nanavati.net, dir.cz.sshq.net Also, before downloading a zone, first remove it from the list (double click the zone's name so that it's not green), then click the download button and re-add the zones you want. In addition to this, make sure Continuum isn't being blocked by any firewalls you have running. They're generally the number one cause for preventing Continuum from connecting.
  20. Since I'm bound to forget: 1. Ranked Dueling http://forums.sscentral.com/index.php?showtopic=21342 2. Base Dueling (Hexeen's idea based off EG): - Two teams face off in a base: Your team wins when you either completely eliminate your opponents, or when you capture their spawn point. - Make it player-run. - Ships have no items (this could pretty much copy team elim for the most part; whereas the 'spawn' point could be a region)
  21. Yes, but FF was spawned by Netscape if you follow up on the browser's history. Their aim and name may be different than Netscape's, but that shouldn't be a reason to dissociate it. If you're a web developper, you'll notice that IE handles things better than FF does in some regions, while the opposite is true as well; and it doesn't always mean that they're not following web standards. As for developpers, the only people who benefit the most are search giants like Google, who is suppose to launch its own open-source browser sometime soon. And when you have an open-source browser, you need routine updates or else you're an easy target for people who exploit flaws in its source.
  22. FF isn't as tech savvy as they make it out to be. It's just a coverup for Netscape.
  23. If you have to make up an excuse for why the sscouncil has such a bad reputation, then you're obviously missing the point. SVS is too modern to even be considered an important factor for the 'hate' towards the SSC as a whole. If you seek reasons for where all this originated from, then maybe you should ask old players & zone owners, and former zone/biller hosts.
  24. Swooning. 25. In my opinion, AutoScreenRecorder is a better choice for recording SS. For better quality while recording, reduce Continuum's resolution and record in Windowed mode only. Play around with the settings of the program you choose, and up the image quality while reducing the framerate. an example of the result (click "watch in higher quality")
