  1. Don't mean to burst your bubble, but !@#$%^&*uming that you are brand new to Subspace -- then you are making that !@#$%^&*umption out of whatever experience you have. There were literally thousands of more players playing Subspace at once several years ago than now. The population has been steadily declining since 2000 or 2001, and every once in a while a rapid fall. At most, 2 years ago the population was over 2500. Now it's around 1000 or less. The community lost at least 1500 according to that, but realistically, the community lost a whole lot more than just 1500 since two years ago (you can't expect 1500 players to have been online literally 24/7). Perhaps, as doc flabby essentially points out, the community will range down to an equilibrium population and die or lose players a lot more slowly than the usual rate of decline over the past 2 or so years. The current population seems to have hung around 1000 for quite a while now, supporting my point. While unfortunate, it will happen. Someone mentioned that nowadays it's about the 3D fancy graphics and such -- and that is partially a reason why many new people of new generations are not biting into Subspace. Subspace to them just isn't interesting. Perhaps may be the same reason for me in certain cases -- like old school consoles. I really don't like the SNES, and I also don't like the NES for the most part (there are only a very few number of games I would bother playing, or none at all). I grew up with an NES, but anything older than the NES is out of my life. Naturally people who didn't grow up with the older consoles will be more hesitant about playing those than they are playing the modern 3D games they grow up with. Another few cents of contribution to this thread. EDIT :: And if you are a common flamer reading this reply, don't reply with flaming or as many ways you can think of possible to destroy me and my reply, because that only supports a reason why some new players quickly leave or don't stay in the community (or the game as a matter of fact). I would have to expect that this reply is treated as fairly and respectfully as would be Polix' or doc flabby's posts. If you don't like me because I'm "weird" for the way I think, type, or who I am -- then so are you. I like to be different.
  2. I've got an Eggdrop (BlueServ) running, so if someone could develop a script that could connect the Eggdrop to a Subspace Bot (like MERVBot), that could be great. Script has to be able to define which IRC channel it is transmitting data from.
  3. Not true. http://www.sscidragonballz.net/
  4. IRC is far more mobile than is to have a Subspace or Continuum client installed. Subchat may be available, true, but less flexible and is zone-specific rather than category specific. You can run an IRC client on Linux, through s!@#$%^&*, or on Windows very easily in little time. All you have to remember is irc.gamesurge.net and #subspace or #continuum and you are settled. It's like the ?chat channels in Continuum, but instead of being puny to the zone chat, it takes complete room in IRC. You don't have to haul a Subspace or Continuum client around with you, or even need anything special when it comes to a video accelerator (you could be running 1600x1200 with a mIRC window maximized versus Continuum running 640x480). IRC is also bandwidth and resource efficient, and can be a decent way to control and manage channels. If you do not find it useful, then that is totally ok. Others may while you may not.
  5. Continuum needs real and serious development. Flaming in this community and on these forums need to cease, and moderation to get down to serious business with that instead of constantly just splitting topics. Continuum, Subgame, and other components need an upgrade to 64-bit compatibility. The community needs more Subspace/Continuum fansites. The community needs more zones, developers, and players.

  7. Your webcam is fading into heaven, just like in Halo (when the screen fades to white with some motion as if you crashed and passed out).

  9. By the way -- for the 3D Mapping part of this thread. Someone mentioned something about a "tile" styled mapping. Please do check out Valve Hammer Editor for Half-Life and toy around with it. I think the tool could be used as an example of how a Subspace II editor could function and look like (similarly).
  10. That is your opinion that you don't think guns are enough to overrun a people. While that may be true, it holds no justification in the Cons!@#$%^&*ution. The topic is about firearms, not technological weapons. There's quite a difference when you take "firearms" up to a whole new field (irrelevant to firearms). Did you add in "flawed"? At!@#$%^&*ude. Anyhow, I respect your opinion. It is your decision and analysis to make, while it is mine also. In my case I have concluded differently, but that is just as ok as yours. :]
  11. Give everyone the full right to bear arms like they were originally en!@#$%^&*led to by the amendment. This is without license. I really doubt anyone would want to walk into a mall where everyone is potentially carrying a firearm and attempt to take them all on. Wouldn't call it a conspiracy theory. From the words of an officer/soldier who came to our school to tell us how it works to get into the marines and army, he said that at the academy/base or whatever (where they train you), they break you and transform you to obey them. Now psychologically, how easy do you think it would be to break apart from that after several years of this kind of treatment? (Not easy at all; your mentality would be different too!) If the PEOPLE have no guns and no way of getting ahold of guns, they are totally enslaved by their government at this point. Back generations or decades ago, the term "militia" meant the PEOPLE -- not the military, army, marines, etc as we know today. Not only does taking guns away from the PEOPLE entirely disable them from revolution and self defense, but it also fuels and encourages the already present criminals to do more. You think the government and police will protect you? Hah. Also how do you think you would protect yourselves to the death from terrorists for the cause and sake of freedom? If you ask me, the United Nations wants to take the guns away from the PEOPLE completely. Oh they will...atleast they are working on it and have been working on it for several decades. http://www.guncite.com/ For those who are for gun control / banning firearms altogether: Now if you are open minded person, you will not disregard or just skim through the following website. You will treat it with respect and take it to heart and evaluate both sides. If you don't want to because you think it'll convert or change you, that alone is ignorance (no matter what the topic is). I am not asking anyone to "convert" over, but asking to carefully, personally, and critically think and read through the information presented...research and finding out for yourself with a truely honest and open manner. http://www.gunfacts.info/

  13. I don't think rootbear is lying. You do have to think about this: where is the actual evidence? Is there and can there really be? This is between two people. It's painless to replicate a fake forum post under someone's name, and then to take a screenshot of your faked post. So now how can you actually justify whether the image X'terrania provided is truthful or fake? Moderators or administrators would have to confirm whether that private message existed to begin with. Once you corner a noobie into a ban because of how you orchestrated the situation, it isn't really hard to keep it and get away with it. Both X'terrania and rootbear75 have been a member since 2004; X'terrania has just over 1100 posts while rootbear75 almost has 3700 posts. I'm sure that most could agree that X'terrania maintains a more mature handling of things, while rootbear75's immaturity shows; besides that rootbear75 "spams" the forums to get such a post count. But are you going to judge this case because of someone's maturity vs immaturity? Their postcount in comparison, hand in hand? I think rootbear75 should be unbanned...and if X'terrania opposes it -- he and rootbear75 should be banned. Is it worth being banned to stand up for what is true? In other words, would you be willing to be banned because of what you say you know is true? My five cents.
  14. I like them both; they stick to originality.
  15. You may find everything of this plugin as open source at http://www.hlrse.net/scores/.
  16. Happened to me when I was downloading a the private development zone of Red Planet.
  17. May I ask why? That sounds more like the opposite of trying to spread the game.
  18. I'm sure you could do far more damage with pencils and pens than you can butter knives. Even worse, just being human people is a danger to society itself.
  19. Collecting statistics, compiling to MySQL data, outputtable as web data. A literal/near-literal clone of the old scores site.
  20. IT'S HEVOLUTION! DD: Related?
  21. This project was dumped long ago for the lack of public and developer-support. If you would like webhosting (subdomain.hlrse.net) for development/personal use, just ask me. Or if you want to take over this project or something, I could send you any/all files that I and Smong have.
  22. Well, seeing how you want to get Subspace onto that, why don't we start with Steam and Crosis? Anyhow, good idea... it might get PriitK to be a little more motivated. I mean, why not? Why not have Subspace in MySpace's gaming channel(s)? Not a bad idea.

    omg

Just personally, I think Office 2007 > Open Office. But that's my opinion. I've Open Office before (as my cousins have it, and Ubuntu comes with it). Far from liking Open Office.
  24. .39 isn't enough to convince me to download it. Never downloaded it, not worth it in my opinion. If there were new features, and I mean, new features (not bug fixes or anti-cheat measures), then perhaps I would have explored Continuum a bit more. There isn't much to explore, or anything for that matter.
