Correct. It'd only happen if a backend were coded and implemented.

Don't know if it matters to mention this or not, but the dirX.subdir.net's are setup with a CNAME entry pointing to the URL of a directory server (ie. warpath.hlrse.net, not the IP address). I just like to have the convenience of remembering a simple prefix for specific directory servers rather than a large, hard-to-remember name. auto.subdir.net would be brilliant alongside !@#$%^&*igned CNAME alias' to directory servers.

Hakaku, how might you suggestion I display the Location information? Originally I intended it to be just the continental name. Perhaps I could have a little Javascript or tooltip little window popup when you would move your mouse over the continent and it'd give a more specific location. EDIT :: I'll probably do something like that unless someone can suggest a better, nicer way of doing it.

An update to subdir.net has been applied.

If you're bored and just want to take on a 'challenge,' (not sure what exactly a challenge would mean in general) then I've got a little challenge available for you. It is all explained in dirserver.txt inside http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/SubdirChallenge.rar. If you ever get something accomplished, you can let me know. If you need an environment to work with that would have PHP and whatever else you need, I can provide temporary hosting for that. EDIT :: Updates have recently been made to subdir.net and SubdirChallenge.rar. You should redownload SubdirChallenge.rar if you do not have ".DC8" in index.css!

Impossible. How did you manage to release this INFIDEL!? Now my plans are RUINED! Woo, another update. EDIT :: Just joking with you. EDIT2 :: After getting the update, DCME complains about not having comct332.ocx.

Couldn't have been said any better. I use NOD32 and it's pretty decent compared to any of the mainstream ones I've used before.

You can find a maintained list of directory servers at http://www.subdir.net/. Comments: I just put this up, so it obviously doesn't look entirely finished because the backend scripting hasn't even been done but is underway. I would like to get the Status (Online/Offline), Zones and Players columns working some time. Currently playing around with the Directory Server's protocol and source code at the moment. ;o It took me almost all day to make that design and get to this publishing point (I think I spent around 8 hours on this puppy). Also if anyone who has the knowledge, experience and free-time to look over my code and CSS to try and fix that empty gap of space between the column headers and the first row of data, that would be excellent. Future Ideas: Display more specific geographic location information when moving mouse over continent name. Have the server e-mail someone when their directory server goes offline. Have a submenu for each online directory server with a list of zones, their IP and port, their descriptions and player count. Integrate an Admin section to Add, Remove, or Modify Directory Server entries. Create a form for people to use to submit their Directory Server information. Setup auto.subdir.net so that it would automatically select a directory server that is online, has good latency and that has as many zones and players possible. Completed Ideas: Create a set of dirX.subdir.net alias', where X is a number and would also trace back to the IP address of that directory server. (Completed on 7/20/2008)

I was just curious.

This is the rig I will be building in about a month: [Motherboard] http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...-L8D-_-13128348 [RAM] http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...-L8C-_-20220333 [CPU] http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819115043 [CASE] http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16811133136 [PSU] http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817153039 [VCARD] http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814143128 Is the motherboard a good choice?

Would a MySQL-styled database work efficiently? That's sort of what it looks like. It would store a variable, a name, and a value (and possibly a description -- otherwise a description could be in a separate file, such as a template.sss). The name would be the name that is displayed to the person configuring the settings, of course. Then again, maybe I should have taken the time to read this entire thread before bringing up this suggestion. Maybe it has already been suggested and dumped.

I believed it was a riddle...I was just waiting to see if anyone would have the brains enough to figure out that it was indeed a riddle rather than arrogantly, ignorantly, and "!@#$%^&*holely" reply with a flame/troll post. I think that was a very brilliant riddle. It's a shame that the majority of people here are too !@#$%^&*hat to be able to take a simple thread and treat it the way they did. Too caught up in their selfish ways to take honest time to try and understand someone elses point of view rather than their own.. :\

And it isn't hard at all to change your user-agent at all. In fact it would only take about 5 seconds or less for me to change my user-agent (including the Operating System part). EDIT :: You should invest in using Wordpress or Fusion over phpNuke (which is very vulnerable / lacks a lot of security / easy to hack).

Oops, meant to vote I didn't know this existed- Yes but ended up voting for I didn't know this existed- No. :S I still have to try this. D:

http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/starlight_err1-1.gif http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/starlight_err1-2.gif http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/starlight_err1-3.gif Click here to view 94ed_appcompat.txt By the way, it would be nice if instead of including GTK with your releases that you provide that as a separate download. I would much rather download 2MB over 9MB or 7MB if I could. Having to redownload GTK unnecessarily wastes my bandwidth (I'm on satellite and I only have a limited amount of bandwidth). ;o Thanks Snrub!

Yeah, that's what I can do to temporarily and quickly fix it. It isn't necessary though, because something is messing around with this like an on and off switch. Yesterday it happened to me several times and also didn't happen to me several times within the same Windows session. I probably have it enabled, even though I don't have more than a single CRT monitor and I don't use that feature.

I often close and reopen Continuum, and I've found that now all the text in my Continuum menu fails to appear for no reason / randomly. I compared the processes in my list in Task Manager in a before and after situation, and found no process that seems to be conflicting or getting Continuum to do this. The text is either there or not there to begin with when I launch Continuum. All my information including zone list is still there, its just the text that isn't loading. I can join zones and stuff fine, and the text ingame is also fine. I don't know what is causing it. http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/continuummenu.png

While I was doing some favors for Solitron regarding his shipset for BlueT Mobile Suit: Gundam, I ran across this strange anomaly in the compression of GIFs. I noticed it when I finished my tasks with his shipset and then compared the filesizes of each file plus the whole batch of images (shipX.gif format) to the decompiled LVZ of his zone that had the shipsets. I found that ship5.gif in my version was twice as big in filesize as the ship5.gif image in the decompiled LVZ. My ship5.gif was 85KB while the decompiled version was 42KB. I've tried every trick I could think of to replicate that kind of compression with Photoshop and "GIF Compressors" (did a Google search on it), and nothing can get me a resulting filesize below 70KB! O_O How the fghwds do you compress this GIF image to 42KB on 8-bit, 256 color settings? If I open the decompiled version and work from that do!@#$%^&*ent without creating a new do!@#$%^&*ent or changing the compression/indexed mode, I can resave it using the same insane compression. ship5.gif - My Version - 85.9 KB http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/btmsg-ship5-test.gif ship5.gif - Decompiled Version - 40.4 KB http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/btmsg-ship5.gif

Remember the old commodore 64 graphics? Just hop into the zone and check out the shipset -- that kind of retro.

I almost hate to make this post, since I should sort of know better than this and stuff...but right now I'm hardly conscious and can barely type...fed the animals without being aware of very much (scary). What and where are all the available AI bots for Subspace? I'm looking for some.
-
Remember, that was partially an irrelevant thought. If Chat clients could be filtered out, then zone owners whose standards are foolishly too high when it comes to which people should be playing wouldn't have to worry about it. I certainly don't worry too much about it. Well it would be nice, because I completely disagree with the idea that all zone sysops should also have bot operator access. Only the people that actually need it should have bot operator status. You see, some sysops are irresponsible enough that giving them bot operator access would be a bad idea, even though they are at least responsible enough to be a zone sysop. Is it that hard, honestly? And if you do bring this up, you would be right Samapico. You didn't have to make this plugin -- not at all. You probably (from my point of view) did it out of some love for Subspace and some sheer boredom. For that reason, I cannot require or force you to do anything of the above. Thank you for making the plugin, Samapico. That will be all.
-
But not every zone has chat clients. Again, being able to do stuff to spectator mode is just an additional feature and flexibility. For anyone that could find an excellent use of it, they should at least be allowed to do so and be the least limited by opinions that influence the plugin from being as flexible as possible. EDIT :: In that case, Snrub and Admiral Kirk/Freak should add a sort of identifier. For example, if you private message that client something like ?cversion (and plainly, any text or spaces after it would omit it from being a command) could return a "Yes" or something. If that could be programmed into both chat clients, then it could make certain development easier. By the way, irrelevant to that -- Sysops only, is that Zone and Bot Sysops or is it only Bot Sysops or only Zone Sysops? (Could be another thing you could add. In that case, you could have something for the Bot and the Zone. For both, you can set it as a number: 0 for regular player, 1 for VIP, 2 for Moderator, 3 for Super Moderator, 4 for Sysop, 5 for Arena Owner; and 0 through 12 for Bot operator access levels). MinBotAccess=4 (I think that's Sysop atleast) MinZoneAccess=4

But it has a lighting effect to it, and some of the ones I've seen were pretty advanced looking. I would understand that in Photoshop you would take advantage of the clone stamp tool as well as flipping some of the parts in disp.bm2, but..but....

The top right of the screen -- that thing shows energy, freq, etc. Now in Trench Wars and other SVS zones, the LVZ adds more than that. I've seen timers and score keeping HUD additions to that top right part and it looks like it was already made by VIE.. Who is making those? O_o Cause I could certainly use a graphics artist of that quality to help produce something for Jackpot SVS in the form of a webdesign.
