Ok. I was using Windows XP Pro and by disabling "Simple file sharing" you get access to technical and flexible permissions editting for files and folders, for sharing and local material. I have had the problem you had before, and from Googling, that became the solution to my problem (at the time I didn't have Ubuntu installed on my 40GB HDD that I now reserve for Linux). If none of those work, the solution that is genuinely guaranteed to work is by deleting it through Linux. Windows can't stop Linux. Unfortunately he does. I tried to delete stuff just a few days ago through Ubuntu without installing it and Ubuntu denied permission for that. You can't do it unless you install Ubuntu (this is sort of re!@#$%^&*ed). Basic instructions otherwise would be again, to simply mount your harddrive, locate and delete the folder/file you want.

Oh, haha. I had images disabled, which is why I wasn't sure of what you were referring to (forgot that I even attached an image!).

This problem is easy to fix; dealt with it myself before. Phase #1 1. Open up a folder, or goto My Computer. 2. Tools --> Folder Options --> View 3. Uncheck "Simple file sharing" 4. Apply and OK. 5. Right click on the folder you are having problems with (the one you want to delete), and select Properties. 6. Security tab, click the Advanced button. 7. Owner tab, select your account/name, check the box "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects" 8. Apply and OK your way out. Problem should be solved. If not, continue. Phase #2 (slightly stronger) 9. Repeat the same instructions -- just get to the part right before you Apply and OK your way out. 10. Be sure to have done step 7. 11. Goto Effective Permissions tab. 12. Select --> Advanced --> Find Now --> Select your account/name --> OK --> OK. 13. Apply and OK your way out. Problem should be solved. If not, continue. Phase #3 (strongest) 14. Repeat steps 7, and 9 through 12. 15. Goto Permissions tab, select your account/name, check "Replace permission entries on all child objects with entries shown here that apply to child objects." 16. Apply and OK your way out. Problem should be solved. Otherwise read ahead. Doesn't work? Another trick might be to pop in your Windows XP CD, boot off the CD, and enter "Recovery Console" (it will be a console). Through that, you might be able to delete the file. Guaranteed Solution (if the above does not work): Download Ubuntu and burn it to a CD. Boot into Ubuntu (it won't install, it will actually load the operating system from the CD; to install you would have to let it load and then double click the Install icon on Ubuntu's desktop to actually have it start making modifications to your HDD), mount your harddrive, find the folder, and delete. It would help if you had an extra HDD laying around so that you could install Ubuntu on that (which is more powerful than the CD-booted version).

Which ?message? I don't recall sending anyone but Snrrrub a ?message lately.

Regardless, I like Samapico's better because he carries a better tone. He'd do better in business.

Copy and paste the following into your Continuum's Directory Server Address List: auto.subdir.net auto.subdir.org What is so unique about this Directory server? - Totally brand new and programmed by Snrrrub - Coded native for Linux and hosted on Linux servers, thus maximized efficiency, optimal performance and supreme stability - Compared to the currently available directory servers, this is a real server and not a polling loop, which means these directory servers are far more responsive and superior at what they do - Advanced mirroring capabilities to make sure it has every possible zone in its listing to get maximized publicity and results Try these directory servers out and make them your primary directory servers TODAY! Check out http://www.subdir.net/ or http://www.subdir.org/ for more details, statistics, and a formal listing of all directory servers in existence. Solution for end-users (Method #1, Individual): Solution for end-users (Method #2, Distribution): (Download fix here *click*) Solution for server admins:

Good luck on your zone. I hope you get a team of developers and bring out some fruits.

Could you add an option to be able to turn off the splash?

NNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooo! EVERYONE IS LEAVING!!! There'll be nobody left to haul me out by the time everyone is gone. ;_;
-
They always come back.

Then it should be a feature.

Two other bugs I found: - Whenever I get disconnected, Starlight never attempts to reconnect - Sometimes when I would get disconnected, Starlight doesn't even realize that and thinks it's connected. Look at the attached screenshot below for an example -- examine the time stamps.
-
Oh, and also BlueT provides webhosting to zones if needed.
-
BlueT can host you. Just goto http://wiki.ssforum.net/index.php/BlueT and read the page for instructions (or goto http://www.hlrse.net/contact.php and contact them).

I think I was able to get Starlight to crash when I hit Connect when it was already trying to connect. EDIT :: But this version is a significant improvement over the bugs in 1.1 that prevented me from being able to use it. <_< Idling in Alpha SVS now. EDIT2 :: Opening up Preferences while Starlight is connected or connecting (both ways) will crash the program. Summary below: Bugs: - Program crash when you select "Connect" when Starlight is already trying to connect. - Program crash when you try to open Preferences when Starlight is connecting and is connected. (note: doesn't always work) - Starlight does not automatically connect when launched, and most of the time when you click Connect the program will crash. - Sometimes you must first his disconnect and then connect when you first launch Starlight to prevent a crash. - If you leave Starlight open long enough when you first launch it, you will be unable to connect because the program will crash on attempt. - If I maximize my Starlight window, then simply hit the minimize button in the top right hand corner of the window/screen, and then bring Starlight back up -- it will reset the window size to default height/width (and it animates it when it resizes the window from maximized to default). Security Issues: - User password in config.dat is printed raw / human readable. Suggestions: - When you cross-zone/arena private message with ::, your message will show up as "[12:06:35] L.C.> snrrrub" (in green) rather than the way it would appear if you messaged someone through Continuum (too lazy to provide example). - There should be a notification or message in the chat that would indicate when the disconnect/connect button was hit, and if Starlight got disconnected or is trying to connect or retrying the connection, etc. This is the "crash" error window. Same window comes up on all crashes. EDIT3 :: Disabling NOD32 seemed to solve the crash problems. I can't use Starlight (or atleast very easily) if I'm required to disable programs. :\ EDIT4 :: Nevermind -- I don't know what is causing those crashes. I re-enabled NOD32 and Starlight is co-operating now (I can't replicate the crashes). This is mind boggling.

I think 100 points per $1 is too expensive. Think seriously about this. :\ Maybe 250 or 500 points per $1 USD.. Or rather than that, do it based off of a USD-per-point system. Start off at around $0.01/point (USD). Either $0.01/point or $0.005/point (with minimum purchase requirement of 2 points; must also be an even-numbered point purchase). What do you think?
-
I need points to pay for Samapico's llama. EDIT :: Sama, why don't you offer x amount of points for $x in real cash. That money could either go to SSForum, Subspace events, or you and Drake.
-
Subspace should have more money rewards. Too bad I can't join in on dialup or satellite. >:[ Oh well.
-
Both (if I understand the second question correctly.) The idea is to provide a convenient, universally compatible, fully serviced system for providing directory server listings, which would include zone listings with descriptions, etc. However, I don't want to go as far as providing graphs and things -- there's already a website for that that is professionally designed and in reconciliation with my quality standards. In case I misunderstood this, auto.subdir.* does not exist yet because it requires backend coding to be able to complete that kind of work.

http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?p=1032...#post1032791444 (I am Cerulean) Over at Hardforums, they are recommending me to get an HD4850 over a GTX260. I don't quite get why. They introduced this new logic/concept (new to me at least) to me which has to do with scaling at resolutions around what 22" monitors and larger support. They say that at 22" and above I should get a certain high-end range of cards, while anything less than 22" I should stick with weaker cards. What's this? Even though it may be true -- on a 15" monitor, why should I get an HD4850 over a GTX260? Wouldn't the GTX260 pump out better framerates for me?

http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/overflowproblem.gif Snrub, I've private messaged you a ZIP of the whole site. I think all you have to do is unzip it to your public_html or wherever you have the public root located at.
-
Snrub could get subdir.com/org or something and it could be a mirror of subdir.net. That could be a form of redundancy...although subdir.net is has server clustering. EDIT :: Or I could get subdir.com/org and set its nameservers to whatever Snrub has (and that way he'd be able to run a mirror of subdir.net).
-
I hope that was a joke, because it certainly isn't.
-
I understand your concern and I think it's pretty acceptable to consider negative possibilities. However, I don't think subdir.net will be having any problems, as hlrse.net nor bluetoast.org have had any problems for quite a while. The disclaimer is common sense. If you like it and want to use subdir.net, you're using it at your own risk and responsibility, etc. If you don't agree with this Snrub, that's fine by me (and in addition, I do take into mind the suggestions and ideas). Would you like to help out Snrub?
