Same here, even though I don't play in Hyperspace. I think I understand this situation though.

Here's the original: http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/an!@#$%^&*xtbanner3eg.gif fat

But would it hurt to add it to the page?

From my understanding, the most logical perception I have from how the networking works is this: If you are hosting your zone, whether you have a router or not, there are three primary different ways to connect to your zone. 1. Internet people connecting to you. 2. LAN people connecting to you. 3. You connecting to yourself. The internet people are people that generally do not have reserved/restricted IP ranges, such as 192.168.x.x or those strange random ~163.191.x.x (~ for around these numbers), as well as 127.0.0.1 related numbers. The LAN people are the ones that have IPs in the 192.168.x.x ranges, "random" ~163.191.x.x ranges, or a specifically defined IP range (defined by network admin). Yourself will always be 'localhost' and/or 127.0.0.1. The most appropriate way to connect to your zone follows as such: 1. They connect to your internet IP, the one ipchicken.com or whatismyip.com would display if you went there; this is the IP your ISP !@#$%^&*igned to your internet subscription (and any other private IP addresses that you may have ordered from your ISP). 2. They connect to your LAN IP, which is the IP that your router or network administrator !@#$%^&*igned to your machine; an example could be 192.168.2.57 or 163.194.5.119. 3. You use either localhost or 127.0.0.1 to connect to yourself, because it IS yourself. While for #2 users (LAN) your internet IP might work, it isn't necessarily proper to use your internet IP since you are on the same LAN as they are; they should be using your LAN IP as it is most logical and proper. For #3 (yourself), while in some cases you can use your internet or LAN IP, your 'localhost' or 127.0.0.1 would be most logical and appropriate, because it is yourself. From my understanding, this is how it works. I find no flaw in this picture/concept that I understand, but I am open to be proven wrong upon valid and logical reasoning. Just my few cents. EDIT :: This reply is only legitimate if my reason for making this reply by correctly understanding what subtopic is being discussed here is valid. !@#$%^&*uming that SSM is a dedicated server in a datacenter, it makes perfect sense that you wouldn't have to add custom as long as your zones shown up in the directory server listing. The only time you'd have to "add custom" in this case is if you tried to have your SSM dedicated server connect to itself. By the way, if another IP address for either #1, #2 or #3 works -- I don't think that'd debunk or disprove any part of the concept of networking that I understand. If it works, it works -- that's great!

I disagree Dr. Brain. Antiwarp is so overrated these days that it almost or basically obsoletes some of the old fashioned, great parts of the game. Too much or too little of something is never good unless there is a compliment to it. How are you going to compliment the overrated use of antiwarp? You might aswell just remove features from the game. If they get frustrated because a smart/lucky individual cloaked into their base and launched an ambush all-out-war in the flag room (or stole the flags and ran off), then they would learn from their mistakes -- would they not? Every part of the game has a purpose. Antiwarp was never meant to be easy candy unless you could compliment it with a down-side to having it. SVS is a perfect example to learn from; !@#$%^&*uming that you understand the design of those settings, it would be understood as very logical settings. This makes flagging abit linear if antiwarp comes inexpensively, easy, or by default. From the attackers position and perspective, it rules out some possible attacking/ambush strategies. If you want to design a good flagging game, one thing to keep in mind is the number of different strategies an attacking team has to strategically infiltrate and capture a base. But while doing it, you also don't want to reduce the number of possible ways to defend and protect against such possible courses of actions from the Attackers. If the wording of this doesn't help, the idea would be to maintain an equal ratio between the two sides by possible strategies and also to provide the most number of possible strategies at the same time (there will be a limit for this depending on the other parts of the settings, and also based on the features of capabilities of Subgame and the client). This is an example of something that's overdone. Just what exactly is the purpose of every item in your zone (ie xradar in this case)? But it's your call. */me shrugs* Just my opinion. ;o

Well, is it bug free and stable??

I think that should be a standard for all Subspace related sites (which is to have the network.sscentral.com bar). It would help to unite all the sites, or atleast in some way.

I don't know if it has been decided already, but I like the first one...only perks about it is that the circle logo thing looks abit too dark, hardly as bright as #2.

@Cerium, Finland My BorgInvasion, X'terrania Your replies just prove my point. Even candygirl knows better than the three of you.

Who gives a crap? If you don't like him, I don't care. Personal attacks and insults don't belong here. I don't care if you agree or disagree - which quite frankly that isn't the point and isn't the problem. If you have nothing better to say other than constructive criticism (which does not mean you can't simply disagree and constructively explain why), then the chances are that you shouldn't be making a reply. I don't care what goes on outside of these forums, but there is a place for everything, and those kind of posts do not belong here.

DCME by far is the best map editor there is. You can get it at http://dcme.sscentral.com/?view=download.

Some of you people are !@#$%^&*holes and should consider the possibility that perhaps Aceflyer is trying to actually help out. I didn't read the chat logs and I won't. I think the chat logs are just proof of being an !@#$%^&*hole yourself. I don't care if Ace failed. I failed in many areas and I still won't give up. Although I have no rightful authority to say this, I'll take my chances: go and create your own forum if you want to flame all the newbs beneath your godlike feet. That kind of stuff doesn't belong here. I don't care if you agree or disagree with anyone here or not, but what you have done is past the boundaries of original rules that have been laid out (and if I'm wrong about "original rules," nobody can deny that this is past the lines). If replies go as far as being anything personal in a negative way, something is wrong -- and that begins with YOU since you're the one who started the !@#$%^&*fest. EDIT :: By the way, if you were wondering I am not angry. I'm in a rather very happy and relaxed mood.
-
rootbear, I haven't had any quarrels with you, but you really need to chill out and take a break. I don't like this at!@#$%^&*ude. That isn't constructive criticism; that's personal and you know it.

128k would be fine. Take it to 256k based on statistics if they allow. I'm also sure that most players really don't need subdir.net or subdir.org...or even then, the majority of players needing mervbot.com and sscentral.com (ssforum.net too, but hardly as much). Come on, this is all out war against extinction. If someone has money, let them spend it as they wish and desire. EDIT :: Oh, and also combine your/our efforts together as much and however much possible.

Let me tell you one thing: hosting a radio is something that is very demanding in bandwidth, and will require a dedicated server as well as a lot of money and/or a very good plan that either specializes in Shoutcast or radios, or a plan that provides lots of bandwidth for bandwidth-heavy applications. Also to mention, this is !@#$%^&*uming that you have a 100mbit Full-Duplex uncapped port on the server. 128k Quality is 16 KB/s. (edit: you can max out a 100mbit pipe to 100% by having 800 concurrent listeners on this quality) 100 listeners for 1 second would be 1600 KB/s on the upstream throughput. 1 minute would total up to 96000 KB (93.75 MB). 1 hour would total up to 5760000 KB (5625 MB, 5.49 GB). 12 hours would total up to 69120000 KB (67500 MB, 65.92 GB). 24 hours would total up to 138240000 KB (135000 MB, 131.84 GB). 30 days would total up to 4147200000 KB (4050000 MB, 3955.08 GB, 3.86 TB). 196k Quality is 24 KB/s. (edit: actually it's 24.5 -- my miscalculation; I'm not recalculating all this for that missing .5) (edit: 522 concurrent users to max out 100mbit pipe to almost precisely 100%) 100 listeners for 1 second would be 2400 KB/s on the upstream throughput. 1 minute would total up to 144000 KB (140.625 MB). 1 hour would total up to 8640000 KB (8437.5 MB, 8.24 GB). 12 hours would total up to 103680000 KB (101250 MB, 98.88 GB). 24 hours would total up to 207360000 KB (202500 MB, 197.75 GB). 30 days would total up to 6220800000 KB (6075000 MB, 5932.62 GB, 5.79 TB). 256k Quality is 32 KB/s. (edit: 400 concurrent users to max out 100mbit pipe to precisely 100%) 100 listeners for 1 second would be 3200 KB/s on the upstream throughput. 1 minute would total up to 192000 KB (187.5 MB). 1 hour would total up to 11520000 KB (11250 MB, 10.99 GB). 12 hours would total up to 138240000 KB (135000 MB, 131.84 GB). 24 hours would total up to 276480000 KB (270000 MB, 263.67 GB). 30 days would total up to 8294400000 KB (8100000 MB, 7910.16 GB, 7.72 TB). On 256k Quality, you would be using up 25% (concurrent) of your 12.5 MB/s (100mbit) pipe. EDIT :: I did 320k for additional convenience. By the way, all this is a heaven load of bandwidth starting at 128k Quality. 320k Quality is 40 KB/s. (edit: 320 concurrent users to max out 100mbit pipe to precisely 100%) 100 listeners for 1 second would be 4000 KB/s on the upstream throughput. 1 minute would total up to 240000 KB (234.38 MB). 1 hour would total up to 14400000 KB (14062.5 MB, 13.73 GB). 12 hours would total up to 172800000 KB (168750 MB, 164.79 GB). 24 hours would total up to 345600000 KB (337500 MB, 329.59 GB). 30 days would total up to 10368000000 KB (10125000 MB, 9887.70 GB, 9.66 TB). EDIT2 :: Expect to spend around $100 to $300+ per month depending on how many listeners you are going to limit to listen at once. EDIT3 :: To totally poop out your 100mbit (12.5 MB) pipe with only 1% of the concurrent throughput remaining... 1013.76k Quality is 126.72 KB/s. 100 listeners for 1 second would be 12672 KB/s on the upstream throughput. 1 minute would total up to 760320 KB (742.5 MB). 1 hour would total up to 45619200 KB (44550 MB, 43.51 GB). 12 hours would total up to 547430400 KB (534600 MB, 522.07 GB). 24 hours would total up to 1094860800 KB (1069200 MB, 1044.14 GB, 1.02 TB). 30 days would total up to 32845824000 KB (32076000 MB, 31324.22 GB, 30.59 TB). I have no idea where you would find a host that would give you 31 TB of bandwidth per month. You'd have to go Colo/Dedi for that, guaranteed. On top of that, you'd be spending several hundreds per month.
-
If you do that, you'd have to add my v12 release or whatever and put my comment underneath that -- but perhaps you should also seek for third party opinions to see if I might have the wrong kind of strategy or approach to this. >.<
-
@Cerium do you have any opinions about using WinAMP Shoutcast? Or is there an alternative (by the way, that's the only one I know of for something like this, so forgive me ;_; )?
-
I support this. It'll take some work to get it setup though, and finding a host will be tough if you haven't got the money for it (this is just some insight/knowledge I'm sharing). Good luck on it.

I released a v12 or something of SSBilling2 somewhere, not sure if I included the source code. It isn't stable and it still has some bugs that need fixing. Overall, Catid's biller isn't worth trying to fix, but rather recreating his biller from ground up, scratch.

In fact, it was a pain in the @$$ to look at and find stuff. Although this design is a whole lot more organized and easier to understand visually, it still carries on a linear-vertical layout. I think each download should have a button on the left, a description to the right of that button, and the !@#$%^&*le right above both the download button and description. Slight change, not sure if there is any better way to do it, but eh...maybe split it into 2 columns of plugins and files. I think the new design is fine, and over time Rii should look forward to doing complete recodes from scratch occ!@#$%^&*ionally to help improve his knowledge and experience with XHTML. With this logic, everything should be in Wiki, including SSCentral.com and most sites. I thought the hate-posts were forbidden on these forums starting a few months ago? [H]ardForums rule is simply that you write up any kind of reply so long as it doesn't become personal, involves insults, flame, etc. That's just common sense. Where is the common sense on these forums?
