  1. That isn't practical nor convenient. EDIT: And that wouldn't work because it would change the thickness of walls.
  2. I have always imagined that getting Continuum into Ubuntu's package repository wouldn't be so hard... but, by assumption, I guess not.

  5. Any updates? Has it been resolved yet? :?
  6. The problem right now is that it isn't as easy as you think to change the *.ico file. However, it is possible to change what icon shortcuts use. In my custom installer at http://www.hlrse.net/subspace/Continuum040Setup.exe I believe it does use the newer/modern icon.

There's no way to fix that "bug"?

You MUST have these three files with EXACTLY the same filename, and they must ALL be in genuine BMP format: * menutext.bm2 * ships.bm2 * tiles.bm2 This is because of hardcoding. It might be possible to change this by unpacking the CRC, changing the 'bm2' part to 'png' via HEX Editor, and repacking the CRC. It looks literally for "menutext.bm2" and not "menutext.*" where * can be jpg/jpeg/gif/png/whatever, unlike all the other graphic files. Although it somehow knows whether or not the image you're trying to use it genuine BMP format or not, so even if you tried this, it probably still wouldn't work because you aren't using a raw BMP.
  9. Then there will be a warrant out for your arrest. They'll be waiting for you at the airport. I have a relative that's wanting to do this to get away from her loans. It's "fail" because it's her fault and she doesn't admit it. Thinks you can just pull out a credit card and use it like money.
  10. Sigh, lately I've been having a lot of problems remembering things and have been looking for stuff too. I'm looking for that one document that's well color-coded and has all the information about SS netcode, bits and bytes, packets ... all in one pretty, tidy, simple page. EDIT: Nevermind, finally found it. http://d1st0rt.sscentral.com/packets.html

Your menutext.bm2 is missing, corrupted, or replaced by something that Continuum won't accept. menutext.zip
  12. Just saying. http://www.ssforum.net/public/style_emoticons/default/blum.gif It's only a few bucks cheaper than $165, and if you have uses for other than Subspace related serverware, it's a nice plus to have around. :] A decent server to have for a Subspace SSC network would probably be around a P4 at around 2GHz (still a little bit overkill) and a GB of RAM. SSCV/BlueT hosts at least 14 zones with approximately a total of 8 MERVBot spawns (right now). Two or three of the zones run on ASSS, while the rest run on the latest version of Subgame2. The most memory a Subgame2 zone has used was SSCV Trench Wars (DEV) of almost 22MB. The least utilized was I think 11MB. The average is between 12MB and 15MB (15 is beginning to be a little on the higher side). CPU for all zones including ASSS? Minimum, average, and maximum of 0% CPU. http://www.ssforum.net/public/style_emoticons/default/blum.gif I haven't measured the MERVBots though. EDIT: ASSS tends to have a memory usage in between 6MB and 10MB. Haven't seen it go higher. So what is that.. like, worst-case scenario based on known data, could be around 310MB of memory usage not including the bots.
  13. I'm just that passionate about Subspace. http://www.ssforum.net/public/style_emoticons/default/blum.gif After all, I've played it for more than half my life. 19 now, started when I was 7-8. :] Just wait until I'm 32! Subspace for life.

  15. Ok, this is good timing PoLiX. Since SSC is broken and we require of Priit's interaction, PLEASE mention this to him and try to get the council to persuade him to at least "fix" Continuum in these parts so that we can get the game on Steam. It's worth every effort. We can't let this opportunity go!

  17. does any1 know reasons why they are persistant? (no guessing please) Who are you referring to by "they"? =? What I said was a suggestion, NOT a "what is currently happening" status report. http://www.ssforum.net/public/style_emoticons/default/blum.gif
  18. This topic has been discussed many times. However, I think what needs/should be done is continuous, constant effort in contacting Valve and trying to get Continuum into Steam's game library. Persistence. EDIT: I've been meaning to ask PoLiX lately if he could take another stab at it. I really do think we can break through if we don't let go of this topic. EDIT2: Steam community @ http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?showtopic=24036
  19. Juan is already looking for them. And when he finds them, they're going to jabjabjab.
  20. I will have to test this after SSC goes stable again. When you tried SSCV's proxy with Cheese, did you use 1337 for the port? And did the logs have anything relevant to billing connections when it crashed? :?
  21. So then having ASSS connect to the biller proxy wouldn't be a problem at all? (Even though it has it's own built-in) From my experience, Subgame2 seems to only restart (when a billing proxy is not being used) if it is connected to SSC. If it is connected to a non-SSC biller, the terminal will print something like 'connection to billing server lost' without restarting the zone. Probably a security mechanism of Subgame2..
  22. Ah. Stupid ol' me. @Dr Brain: Does ASSS have any compatibility with the biller proxy? :?
  23. The reason is because whoever is hosting it is not using the billing proxy. SSCV is using a billing proxy, so our zones do not automatically restart upon losing connection. Instead, there is an arena message saying the zone lost connectivity to the central database and is switching to standalone mode. And, when it does regain connection, it says that it has and that you should relogin to regain full functionality of billing features. I've had Subchat open to SSCV Realism Zone for the past 48+ hours and looking up the log there are large time ranges of when SSC goes up and down.
  24. Who's hosting the zone? :? EDIT: Actually, nevermind! I think all of SSC is experiencing issues.
  25. Try and resize the contents of the attachment to 1023x1023 (or 1024x1024). I want the contents to take up 100% of the map width and height. Problems: 1) Resizing issues = self-evident 2) Even if I set it to "clear 1 thickness" or whatever, it still changes the thickness of walls upon resizing a square map to a larger size I just want to make it take up 100% of the size with the thickness of walls unchanged (length or magnitude should change accordingly). custom101_resize.lvl
