  1. I'm working on population statistics but it won't be able to show the population of like a year ago, so there are no real means to compare or see the trend(s). Perhaps you could release the statistics database for the old statistics and direct someone into the right direction as to what kind of database it should be converted to, and maybe someone might spend the time making scripts or whatever necessary to get them converted... I think it would be worth it (though I can't quite speak this way since I have no programming experience D: ) because it would be a lot of statistics (and that is time you cannot regain).
  2. Lots. Drama, politics, bang bang pew pew.
  3. Pix and vidz when you can.

    Bandwidth

In TW's afk arena (with about 24 people or so people idling there, the average downstream is 2 bytes per second, and average upstream is 25 bytes per second. In a heated battle at the flag in public with about 16 players on screen, total throughput does not seem to exceed 250 bytes per second (from spectator mode anyway). Per-player throughput (again from spectator mode) can range from 75 to 150 bytes per seconds. Measuring with NetLimiter Pro.
  5. Isn't Infantry's engine based on isometric rendering, or can this be changed to match exactly how Subspace looks right now? :? Just curious, that's all! =D
  6. Haha, now it is 33% off on Half-Life instead of 80%+. EDIT: Wt? 80% EDIT2: Why is the number EIGHTY a smiley? Samapico> Fixed!
  7. http://store.steampowered.com/app/70/ Grab it while you still can (for this cheap)!
  8. Heh, his hosting would technically be the most reliable right now. So long as SSC is online, so will everything else he hosts. ;o
  9. You could make a bot that runs 24/7, checking subarenas like a password-cracker to a maximum of 16 characters. J/K! I will look through my backups and everything for "17th Parallel" folder and get you what I have. Cannot do it right now for various reasons.
  10. Source engine is still the wrong engine to use for a game like Subspace I think. The Source engine was not made, designed, or aimed for games like Subspace. Sure, it has an SDK open to everyone and stuff, but that's directly influenced by the design of the engine.
  11. I love Google. Unfortunately, I'm too lazy to get a link.
  12. Signature fail
  13. I think it's just the_snake actually. O_o Unless there's something I misread/haven't read.
  14. I got my answer from another forum. These are called vacuum lifts. And here is the guy I was talking about (turns out he's still alive): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZvm5H4F-aA&hl=en_GB&fs=1&
  15. No no, feel free. What you posted was relevant to the "humor" of this thread. EDIT: I mean, sure, thread initially starts about Apple. It's one humor comic. Perhaps we can share picture-based funnies in this thread? Also, that's just awesome. Yeah, I've dealt with people like that before.

    Null Kit

Contains null.gif, null.png, null-opt.png, and null.wav. What are they? Nothing! The images are all 1x1 and black. They have been tested, so they do work. However, I need to point out the difference between null.png and null-opt.png. For certain graphics, null-opt.png will work fine. But for the graphics that null-opt.png does not work, null.png will. The technical difference between the two is that null-opt.png is optimized and compressed with the tools that come with PNG Monster. When the null graphic does not work, you will see a 1x1 white pixel in its place, possibly juggling around in a very small square-circle. Null.wav, of course, is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Genius! You can use these to "disable" a graphic or a sound. I provided GIF, PNG, and optimized PNG for the graphics for filesize purposes (use the one you want or is more appropriate to what you are doing). Now with 99% less fat! NullFX.rar
  17. I decided to rewrite my original text for improved grammar and structure. subspace_staffship_philos.docx subspace_staffship_philos.pdf
  18. Some of you might find this interesting or having some truth: I had to go dig that up from my backups; could use some rewriting and grammar corrections of course. This was used for SSCI Dragonball Z back when I led the "Revival Project". Unfortunately, from my experience and my point of view, the majority of people in this game are not fit to run or operate a zone, or partake in staffship. It requires maturity to be a staff member, something that 95% of the people probably don't have. But that's just me. EDIT: Furthermore, if I may add, staffship is also about The Game. I love SubSpace, and that's my focus. I don't care what anyone else says when it comes to my motivations and intentions of doing my best in bettering, helping, improving, and doing a service to The Game. Serving this game is a selfless spirit, even if you aren't a staff member or if you don't have any "special" kind of power, authority, or ability. It starts with perspective and attitude.
  19. Where's the proof of that? I've had the same D-Link router since 2003, and it works brilliantly. Considering I paid about GBP £100 for it, and it's been working near enough constantly for 7 years (often taking high strain) I think the need to extend the life of the router is kinda unnecessary. Heh, I surprised myself when looking into your question. Here is my thread at http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?p=1035839894#1. I guess I may be incorrect in assuming that it extends the life (although it would be logical at first). EDIT: I wonder if it would make a difference as far as life when it comes to cheap components being used in a router. For example, at first they might manufacture a router with solid and quality components, but after a while revert to using cheaper and lower quality components to save costs (or might start out like this). But then there is also the question of whether or not your heatsink serves more as an insulator rather than a dissipation/cooling component (unfortunately I think to find this out it would require very technical scientific research and experimentation -- that leaves a normal person to just guess and take chances).

  21. The Ghost Ship, being the original owner of Death Star Battle*, already has the classic Death Star Battle files. *When Baudchaser was around, he summoned The Ghost Ship to fix the 0-player zone. Later, he gave the zone to The Ghost Ship altogether. The Ghost Ship was the one who made Death Star Battle what it mostly is today (without him, the zone would most likely be non-existent). Sure, lots of work and development has occurred since TGS' time, but that wouldn't have been if it weren't for him. The core foundation, which includes the map and settings, is a direct result of The Ghost Ship's responsibility initially handed down by Baudchaser. He is also the one who brought it out from the grave of being a playerless zone to the hundreds (no wonder he was later summoned yet again [with ownership] and given to take on Trench Wars). If you get to know The Ghost Ship, you will also realize his motivations (where he comes from) are genuine. Additionally, several of Death Star Battle's developers have its files, bots, and so forth. FYI, I am not here to argue history. If you want to find out history, I suggest you execute the steps and philosophies of Critical Thinking for yourself. If you genuinely, honestly, and selflessly want to find something out, then the chances are you will (or be very close to the truth). The moment your research becomes insincere and/or for some personal and/or political gain, your output is fallible. Also, you cannot build off of invalid theories, assumptions, gossip, etcetera. Good luck! =)
  22. Uh, yeah, I've seen that before. You can't do that. Twisting logic doesn't either. ;o But it's fun and interesting the first time around. =D Especially for people who are not particularly aware of some of the critical rules and laws of mathematics that apply to this.
