  1. I am looking for a certain kind of device. http://www.winnrentals.com/images/Suction%20Cups.JPG It's sort of like that, except bigger (well, maybe not necessarily in comparison to the cups in the picture) and electronic. Many years ago this was this dude who died (forgot why -- cancer?) who was apparently well known and famous for what he did, one of which I think was train riding. I saw a picture of him on a high speed train (like literally on the outside) gripped/attached to these yellow suction cups, and you could clearly see the digital screen on these devices too. Anyone know what kind of device I'm talking about? I don't know what they're called. Thanks! Keywords: power grip, suction, vacuum, electronic
  2. Meh, I've looked into DD-WRT (my wireless router has DD-WRT), but officially there's zilch on DD-WRT for the DGL-4100. EDIT: Going to post on DD-WRT forums to see if anyone has actually tried It's a beautiful work of art! D= Besides, you don't see it with the chassis on.
  3. 1. Several HardForum members recommended it 2. That is a wired router you dope http://www.ssforum.net/public/style_emoticons/default/blum.gif 3. Using the sinks extends the life and reliability of the router
  4. Is this zone hosted on a Linux machine? :?
  5. That's cool! You could easily make a VIE-like modern version of the default tileset. :] I did this in Photoshop a couple or few months ago: http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/subspace_tiles_original.png http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/subspace_tiles0.png http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/subspace_tiles2_original.png http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/subspace_tiles1.png http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/subspace_tiles3_original.png http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/subspace_tiles2.png http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/subspace_tiles_012.png (Note: some are still being processed by PNG Monster and have not yet been uploaded) PSDs @ http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/subspace_tiles.rar I suck at Photoshop, but that was my best attempt. ;\ I hope someone can improve it/utilize parts of it for the better.
  6. My router: http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/IMG_1206_thumb.jpg http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/IMG_1204_thumb.jpg The smallest heatsink there is the CPU sink; it is hot. The blue heatsink is the coolest, probably because it sits on two of the least heat intensive chips (one of them being a DRAM chip?). The long heatsink, like the CPU sink, came from a CRT monitor. It's perfect because it slides right onto the chips, and both wings have a X and + design (or a fin every 45 degrees with the exception of the insides), plus it's got that little circuitboard thingy at the end that holds the blue heatsink in its place. http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/IMG_1207b_thumb.jpg Unfortunately it's not as badass as this (not my router): http://www.reviewdesk.com/images/insaneroutermod/4300mod.jpg http://www.reviewdesk.com/images/insaneroutermod/insanemodw00t-large.jpg http://www.reviewdesk.com/insane-router-mod/
  7. I don't know how you can do that unless (1) your ISPs DNS cache is horrible, (2) you are using the static IP address of the server SSDL is stored on.. because OpenDNS tells me the nameservers of subspacedownloads.com are failing. =P (In other words, the nameservers either don't exist or are down, and it's a requirement to be able to use a domain TLD.) IntoDNS confirms it as well: http://www.intodns.com/subspacedownloads.com Or I don't know what I'm talking about.

  9. I have these babies. Used to be around $150.
  10. lol hax cannon.
  11. Officially posted at http://www.hlrse.net/policies.php and sent e-mails to all Subspace-hosted clients.
  12. More drama! Just kidding! =P
  13. Thank you for your input! =)

  15. Plenty of time... plenty of time.. plenty of time. . .
  16. I have made changes to the draft. Please review. [2010-05-17 @ 7:10 AM] Crossed out a bunch of stuff
  17. And the exact date and time of that is...?
  18. ^^ Read description. EDIT: oh fail. It's throneship*
  19. EDIT2: Nevermind, I see what you are saying by 'doubling as staff' (or could be anyway). But then what about being able to use *info/tracert/pinfo/einfo and so forth on a player? In Isometry-connected zones I have the power to use ?alias (although Subgame2 will give more detailed information when I use said commands). In SSC what else have I got other than zone capabilities? Why worry about my name being there? It's there by default, so you don't ever have to go through the trouble of adding it. ASSS zones on the other hand have the advantage that I am not as familiar with ASSS as I am with Subgame2, so I leave that "problem" in their hands. If a serious problem arises, I hope it won't require ASSS-knowledge to solve it. Here are my priority levels on powers: 1) Local powers 2) Network powers (even if it's only zone-wide BanG) 3) Firewall I shouldn't have to work my way down to the strongest power. If I even had to work my way to #2, then that would probably call for a potential network-wide ban. Zone operators can use BanG over local powers if they wish, but I don't see it necessary unless someone is using exploits, bugs, and vulnerabilities to their advantage (wouldn't that be against SSC rules anyway? Hence the hierarchy). EDIT: This isn't to say that you don't have the advantage of banning a player who isn't in the zone with BanG. >.<
  20. The main reason for that is for security purposes. It helps to be automatically logged into BanG (via Auto) and automatically have powers in a zone. One is net-based, the other is localhost-based. Unlike Death+, I carry on by a business model. BlueToast has paying customers for our webhosting services, so I have good ongoing experience with that in several ways. I will not treat SSCV/BlueT clients differently than I do my webhosting customers. That is my insurance policy that I will not come and hijack your zone, etcetera. Anyone who says otherwise is a jackass.
  21. EDIT: As of May 23, 2010 2:30 PM the policies have been finalized and posted at http://www.hlrse.net/policies.php and are in effect. Hello! The guidelines below are currently in drafting. The purpose of creating such guidelines is to fill in necessary blanks not realized or acknowledged by BlueToast Subspace clients. Upon finalization, they will be effective immediately (all clients notified, of course). Responses to this thread will be considered, but not necessarily accepted. [2010-05-16 @ 8:24 PM] Added character limit note for zone description. Thanks Cheese! [2010-05-17 @ 7:10 AM] Crossed out a bunch of stuff
  22. Continuum virtually utilizes the entire port range from 1 to 65535. In other words, if you have your laptop connected to a Watchguard Firebox (which has all ports blocked by default), you would be unable to connect to any zone, be unable to attain fresh zone listings, and would see all zones as offline/red. Then, in this scenario, you would have to forward the zone ports for the zones (in specific) that you want to connect to and be able to play in. You say you are connecting to the internet via wireless. Is this through a wireless router or something through Alltel/a mobile carrier? If a wireless router, then I will assume you either have (1) a LAN network or (2) that router is connected to your modem from which you receive your internet. In the case of #1, you need to locate the router that is connected to your modem. Please report back its brand and model. Run a tracert on one of the zones such as SSCU Trench Wars with at least 100 cycles. Then report the log back here. From my perspective: something is blocking the ports necessary for Continuum to contact one of the zones in your list and/or directory servers. It is either (1) Windows Firewall or (2) wired/wireless router that is connected to modem. That's where I would be looking.
  23. Thanks Priit and PoLiX for resolving the issue.
  24. I'd swear those tube things on the engines in the center are bigger and closer to the main hull in the pictures of the Warbird. http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/subspace/warbird.jpg
