  1. Moving to General Development as I believe it is more relevant there.
  2. If someone was saving results from old matches then they could still be fed into the system to give afk'ers a reasonable "all time" rating. However their weekly/periodic rating would be 0, perhaps an incentive to get out of spec.
  3. Maverick you leech
  4. Maybe because pyxlz doesn't want to release it just yet and those 2 are trying to force his hand by making a premature site. As for discretion, I think since it moved to sf.net there have been no packages available, just the repository.
  5. Are the build scripts actually using the arm-elf compiler or the standard gcc one?
  6. I was considering getting this game since I like Rainbow Six Raven Shield, but I've decided not to after playing the demo. The most annoying part of all, the gun sights. The sights do not point where the bullets will go, some even point towards the ground. Bullets always go to the center of the screen, I ended up dangling a cable vertically over my monitor so I could aim. The sights are also animated and sway continuously, the animation doesn't loop correctly. The sniper sights are in two parts, the black border and some crosshairs, they animate out of sync, like in different directions. I don't care if it's been fixed in retail, I didn't see any patches for the demo. If I remember correctly Epic did release patches for the UT demo so it's not unheard of. Comparison to Raven Shield: - You can't switch between team members like in Raven Shield, so if you die and your squad is still alive it's game over (if they die you can keep going). - No radial menu, giving commands is harder. - Graphically some more eye candy, but has to be balanced with resolution. - Missions are slightly different, you are given an initial objective and then more as you go along. So there's no pre-mission planning, no waypoints to follow etc, I guess this what they call a "more open" game? For a single player game this isn't my type of style. - Still retains standing/crouch/prone, loadout chooser, selective fire modes (semi/burst/fullauto), a squad to help you, good quality maps. Any suggestions for a tactical FPS to try out? I don't have Pixel Shader 3.0 so don't suggest any games that require that (I know Lost Planet does). The rest of my "review" if you care: Graphically it's ok, I had to use a really low res to get a decent fps. There are some pointless special effects like leaves falling from trees and branches waving, also grenades have a distortion effect where they blow up, like some kind of heat haze. There are also possibly shadows and HDR and you can see your legs if you look down. I think there might have been some advanced settings that were hidden away, but I didn't try them. If you crouch you can't look all the way up, and if you're too close to a wall you can still shoot but aren't allowed to bring your sights up. The default controls aren't too good, especially over dependance on the scroll wheel/third mouse button. Commanding your squad members is near useless, if you tell them to move somewhere they move too far ahead and step into enemy view. I tried commanding my squad to shoot some enemies, it didn't work, they just stood where they were. At one point a squad member stepped infront of me as I was setting up a shot on an enemy. A command rose / radial menu / what ever you want to call it isn't used in this game, instead you have to middle click, then use the scroll wheel, then middle click again. And if you accidentally middle click the menu won't close until you select an option. You also have to hold F and then scroll to change weapons. Attempting to command via the tab overview map (looks like a battlefield series clone) is very annoying, all the commands are at the bottom of the screen, and if you move the mouse near the edge it scrolls. So if you scroll over the target zone, then select a squad member, then select an action, by that time the map has scrolled away and you have to move it back again. Another thing cloned from battlefield is when you run you can't shoot and the 1st person weapon is drawn a little lower. At the mission start you can't skip the briefing, so you have to wait for the mission to load (preloader is extremely boring, just a spinning thing, they should consider adding tetris or something) then you have to sit through a video briefing which only appears in the top right of the screen. What's more is it keeps auto saving which freezes the game for a few seconds.
  7. You could add a couple of drop down menus to the lvz tab for layer and mode. Then any currently selected map objects or any lvz you place from now on will use those settings. You currently have the coords in a tooltip, so you could add layer and mode to the tool tip too (use multiple lines). Probably only want the tooltip thing to happen when you select a map object. Or to be really fancy you can show it on mouse over too, except when lvz overlap just make the tooltip bigger to show info for all the lvz under the cursor.
  8. I almost accidentally clicked delete instead of reply. Anyway it's done: http://toktok.sscentral.com/files/!@#&...ounter2-2.0.zip (gah bad naming scheme, too late now) I included digithud inside the dll too.
  9. Ok I'll see what I can do. Do you have any preferred lvz you want to use with this?
  10. No one's using the .elvl extension yet due to the lack of elvl editors. Just stick it on, subgame and ASSS should accept any file as the map no matter what the extension is.
  11. Lol there is very slight friction is SubSpace too at least in SVS - try it, fire your boosters, let go and wait... eventually you will slow down. I hope you are referring to when you bounce off a wall you lose some speed.
  12. Yup, plus I click the links in the subscription emails. I didn't know so many people were still typing a url and the wrong url at that.
  13. I wasn't aware ssforum still worked, a long time ago I had to fix a few things under my control to point to forums.sscentral.com instead of ssforum because it came to my attention any sort of redirector had stopped working properly (ie: redirecting to forum index instead of the specific thread). So why are people saying it just stopped working a few days ago?
  14. Just an update, the game is open beta now I think.
  15. Regarding this public library thing, I don't know any of the details and I appear to be late on the scene missing any "bad content". I'd like to point out the second post in this thread, made a week ago, has a swear word in it, you can see where the thread is heading.
  16. When I was testing your 40 lvz thing I noticed if you do this in subgame: LevelFiles=lvz1.lvz,+lvz2.lvz,lvz3.lvz Then you go and turn off optional lvz, it doesn't send you lvz2 or lvz3. I think it should be sending lvz3 though. I was using subgame 1.34.14a.
  17. Ok I made 2 .blend files one for facing upwards and one for facing rightwards. I added numrolls and degreesperroll settings into the script incase you want to change them. After doing it I realised I had it making the left rolls before the right rolls, I hope you don't mind. Download: http://toktok.sscentral.com/dump/wb-sidescroller.zip Preview of right rolls: (also in the zip file) http://img74.imageshack.us/img74/6373/wbrightwardsnl2.png As you can see it is very close to the edge of the image, you might have to move the camera slightly further away. Also incase you haven't already got something like this, here's a link to a program that will combine all the frames into 1 image: http://www.toktok.sscentral.com/dump/ssm-beta1.zip
  18. Cyan~Fire supposedly made edits to merv to make it work in devcpp but I've never tried it. Devcpp also works with ASSS.
  19. Add this bit too please:
  20. Aargh why didn't I know this, was typing each letter one at a time. Some on screen help text inside the dialog would be useful.
  21. Can you add *.elvl type to both open and save (might as well add to the file/s!@#$%^&* !@#$%^&*ociation too). Also add All Files type to all the Save As dialogs, although I'm not sure if that will do much. Currently (319) if you save a map as moo.blah it actually saves as moo.blah.lvl.
  22. I'm not entirely sure what you want, although it sounds like a scrolling shooter where when you move left/right the ship tilts a bit in that direction. Can you confirm that or post/link images to something similar as an example? Plus is that 8 left rolls, 1 normal pic and another 8 right rolls? (to make 17 total). Anyone is free to use/modify my warbird model, if this for a non-SS game I'd rather subspace was credited than me (more publicity, hehe).
  23. [Moved from General Discussion to Gamers Lounge]
  24. C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER. Sorry just couldn't resist.
