  1. I just one want to point out the real issue here, the current public version of ASSS (1.4.3) does not detect regions in maps that don't have a 256 color tileset. So if you have a 24bit tileset then you need to apply a patch (which should be included when you download my regiontriggers package).
  2. Looks like they are still on the dirservs to me. Also it shouldn't be necessary to edit zone.bak.

    * CtFness

    2 teams only I'm guessing?
  4. Nah you are correct in this situation, points = killpoints, flagpoints = flagpoints, totalpoints = killpoints + flagpoints.
  5. Closed by request. Edit: To clarify the situtation. Due to the recent forum upgrade there are some issues with the mod powers. It has been requested by MikeTheNose that this thread be closed.
  6. There was an attempt at centralising it on the wiki, http://wiki.minegoboom.com/index.php/Category:Protocol. However someone uploaded ExplodyThingy's "FPL" for the game protocol section, which is incomplete and badly formatted.

    Promoted?

So I've seen this said a couple of times, I've even seen it said to people that aren't even part of the SDT. Is this some obscure slang?
  8. The forums were upgraded recently, all attachments probably got fried.
  9. Looks like you are a meany.
  10. Something like this? http://www.subspacedownloads.com/index.php...le&fid=1321
  11. So you're just going to ban anyone that warps, fires a repel, etc when a weapon would have hit them?
  12. Only? What are you trying to say? Also please justify your count of "48", where did you get that from?
  13. Due to the possibility some of SSDev do not yet have an account on the SST biller or have not set their ?passwd on the ASSS zone there is potential for random users to try and gain sysop powers. Anyway... this doesn't matter so long as a) no sensitive information is stored on the ASSS zone, backups are kept regularly incase someone goes in and messes everything up.
  14. The bandwidth doesn't have to increase if the server is doing the monitoring, it already gets sent all the necessary data. With ASSS you could even move initial bounty server side, so you know more accurately what players starting items are. When you guys are talking about "checks" what are you actually talking about? I can't see how you can detect a bot firing a repel to avoid death, some players will do this anyway. Are you talking about using repels you don't have? If the clients check each other how are you going to handle heavily modded zones that use per-player settings? Every client would need a copy of every other clients current settings to check against.
  15. I still don't have powers in the ASSS zone.
  16. I wonder how repels do work. Simplist glitchy method is for the client to apply the repel to nearby weapons as soon as it receives the packet. A more synced method could be to keep track of a weapon state history, and apply the repel when it was actually fired - although this would have to take into account weapons that the client already expired somehow (enemy ship, wall) between the actual time the repel fired and the current time. If you had server side damage then a weapon invalidate packet for cloakers can be used, of course toggling cloak/xradar will now have a delay. Any client deleting all weapons would still die since the server would know it should. Clients won't be able to send their own kill packets anymore, since this leaves room for cheating within a threshold. There will probably be glitchy gameplay, which happens a lot in modern games too (people eating bullets, seeing people suddenly appear out of nowhere, getting killed without seeing the killer).
  17. More free stuff courtesy of Steam news. http://www.showdownlan.com/2007/ I'm !@#$%^&*uming this means you need to pay to get in, also it's happening on June 15th in San Jose Convention Center, so this will expire soon (I won't be there so only buy 1 pack of eggs).
  18. I think the server and client are roughly equally complex, but in their own different ways. Sure you could easily make a "packet router", but ss also has a bunch of extras such as arena settings, flag game, ball game, brick management, stats/scores, staff levels, commands, file transfer management, even logging in and moving between arenas is complicated.
  19. How come the bot has 2 posts yet I only see one on their profile? Also yet again I didn't get an email notification for this thread... (well I did, but 4 days late). If you look you can see the post above mine was discussing the ZH mod for CS:S, I don't think it's too far off topic to reply about it.

server.ini [Misc] AllowVIEClients=1 *.cfg [Misc] ContinuumOnly=1 There's no need to get a bot to spec vie clients, the .cfg setting locks them in. Plus doesn't subgame handle bandwidth per IP, so I doubt you could get too many mervbots to join before some start dropping from lag. Also I think VIP can see priv freq numbers.
  21. For reference this is what Aquarius found: http://www.freesoundfiles.tintagel.net/Aud...ople/YAYAYA.WAV I would upload a sample from a sims video from youtube, but uploads don't work for me on this forum. Thanks everyone for helping, I think I'll take a sample from what S!@#$%^&* found.
  22. It's not entirely my fault, I am subscribed to this topic but I never received an email about it. When I was checking the forums manually this thread had one of those unread icons next to it.
  23. Zombie horde you say? http://img55.imageshack.us/img55/8509/zhaz9.jpg I would post a different image but explorer crashed and drwatson hung while browsing them.
  24. This is not a magazine store or TV commercial. Buy some better lobbyists, the "women thread" should not be allowed to exist.
  25. Well I'm a mod in the development forum and it says VIP for me.
