The public release of ASSS has been updated to support 40. Subgame can always be set to allow a specific version in the usual way, grab the cont exe, rename to subspace.exe and drop it in the version1 folder (anyone using the prerelease thing is just allowing cont38 through to cont40 enter, no security gains there).

Once you add shipping you're looking at $30, is that really the cheapest cafepress can go or is someone trying to make money off this? (I've seen the tshirts vary from $15-20).

Even if the menu is overengineered does it really matter? I thought this site would be like a central portal for existing players. New players should be told about getcontinuum.com since it has a massive download button. Just one small issue with that, sscentral.com is shorter than getcontinuum.com so it is more likely to fit into one of those 88x31 buttons. With no one else in the arena it's less than 1k up and down, that's probably not very useful to you. Wasn't TW meant to use close to 3TB bandwidth per month? Anyway, even in a moderately sized arena (30~) I don't think the SS client uses any more bandwidth than modern FPS's (15k down in Source games). BTW a 14.4k modem would only give you 1.4k speed, since I remember on 56k you could only download at around 4-5k per second. The 1.4k seems appropriate if you assume all zones were like Chaos SVS, no more than 3-4 players visible at once (plus the original SVS settings may have had the Misc:SendPositionDelay at 20 instead of the 10 that is commonly used now).

Your uni may support societies, such as giving you an initial sum of money and then you can get further money by taking receipts to them. I don't know what the uni culture is like in Australia, but I don't think you should charge an entry fee for an SS society. Where I am I think the only societies that charge fees are for blanket access to on campus sports facilities, or going on extreme sports trips (travel expense, hiring gear). There's a plugin called basewars that almost does that. It doesn't have the "If someone from the other team ends up killing enough people in enemy base" part.

I've already sent cont to sophos a few times in the past and they fixed their virus signatures within a day or two. There's also http://www.virustotal.com/ which you can run it through.
